Your welcome to visit anytime kc just PM me anytime.

With the exception of my 4 yrs in the Military I've spent my entire live here in Southern Illinory in the same county and township with in 2 miles from where I was raised and am now back on the homestead and I'm 72

I'm looking at farming till I'm 75 then a yr at a time as long as I still enjoy it and my health is good.

I raise corn / soybeans / plus raise seed beans for Pioneer Seed Co / wheat / and sunflowers a few yrs back livestock left the farm in 1978 now only livestock on the farm is a big steak and or pork chop in my plate.
Have ran a custom seed cleaning business for 42 yrs sold certified seed wheat and soybeans plus Redtop grass seed .

I grew up bucking bales of hay really there's no place I'd rather be than on the farm.
Lots of changes since I was young as there are very few small bales anymore and those that do are handled by mechanical means .

How far are you from St Louis Mo ? I'm 100 miles east
Your welcome to visit anytime kc just PM me anytim... (show quote)

I'm in Kansas city but I'm very sad to tell you I can't visit you. I'm a 100% disabled vet and can't travel. Hell, I can barely get out to see all my doctors with the help of my retired brother. I've still have a long life to live and this computer I use takes up a lot of the day. I'm not completely immobile. I have a weight gym down stairs where I can exercise, books, videos and I collect music CD's. I have a 14 year old cat who moves like a 3-year-old and is healthy as hell. I also raise a few houseplants. I'm not very good at plants. I either water them too much or not enough - I don't know. I think your farm is really neat. Do you have tractors and combines and such?

First he/she "goosed" me, then grabbed a pantleg and shook the heck out of it. I thought about a karte chop to that long necked heathe, but was afraid that would kill it and the farm "lady of the house" was standing at the front door and I hoped to sell them some insurance, so I just hobbled toward the door and the goose finally let go.

Rumor on the OPP says you've finally cut your drinking in half. You now throw away the chaser. Maybe we'll see an improvement in your attitude?

We're pretty much all watching or trying to lose weight, except the kids so we limit carbs at most meals...have pretty much eliminated sandwiches and bread at home. Rice, corn, starchy vegetables, potatoes are sometimes available. Heart patient that has lost 35 pounds <yippe!!!> was told Not to eat bread, rice, corn, potatoes, dairy, turkey, ham. That doesn't mean that the foods aren't eaten...we just limit number available at each meal. However; the Christmas party for 50 at our home will be a food bonanza mine field.

I had a run in lately with a goose.... they will chase you to bite! And they leave huge bruises.... mine kept me from sitting on my right cheek for 2 entire days. Angry little beasts!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Take the trusty old 12 gauge with you the next time as there is nothing better than roast goose, if you know how to prepare it. That with mashed potatoes and gravy, and either cranberries, or lingonberries, and you have a delicious meal and then you can compliment that with a green bean casserole, or a salad, rolls and butter and some nice desert afterward.

Sounds like you keep yourself busy and thank you for your service I know you probably hear that a lot and after the fact it doesnt change your circumstances but the thank you is very much deserved. I also am mean to my plant its a drowned or dehydrate so to keep from killing them I picked (1) day during the week to water and one month in sping to fertilize I use Jobes organic fertilizer spikes and before you water always test the soil if its dry to the first join of you finger water in winter you need to watch that because the heat in the house can dry them out faster. Also welcome have never seen your posts before my brother lives in Wichita he finally had to get a Dr across the state line to be his Dr. she keeps the vets straight they dont want to do anything they dont have to she got him full disability he's now 70

I have a whole network of libraries here in Kansas City. You keep your books safe from the ravages of other hands. With the advent of the computer, I can order any library book I want and keep it for up to six weeks. Thanks for the offer, though. You are a good man.

I'm going to try watering once a week and spray the leaves to keep them from drying out in my heated house.
I use MiracleGro fertilizer spikes once a month and spray MiracleGro twice a month.

Well, I do hear "Thank you for your service" a lot when someone finds out I'm a retired veteran, but it never grows old. I do appreciate the thought very much. Makes my military service worth it.
