I Don't Do Turkey

When I was 9 years old, I got my butt kicked by a big domestic turkey.

I was eventually able to behead the gobbler with a little help from my great little Aunt Helen.

He roasted up quite nicely.

I tasted the ruffian and after a few bites I made up my mind then and there that I just don't .....like ......turkey.

That yard bully put a wing spankin' on me that I'll never forget.

We're having Ribeyes smothered in New York strips for Thanksgiving dinner.

But the dressing and cranberry sauce is on, right along with the sourdough dinner rolls.

I hope y'all have a joyful Thanksgiving folks.

And as always.... happy trails.

I had a run in lately with a goose.... they will chase you to bite! And they leave huge bruises.... mine kept me from sitting on my right cheek for 2 entire days. Angry little beasts!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is a way to enjoy turkey with your thanksgiving dinner... but take it easy it might also kick your butt.

That's a fine sippin' whiskey. Best served Straight-Up with about 3-5 drops of water.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Next time use your skills as a runner, they never chase you too far and they hiss and lower their heads before they attack... oh yeah, you did say he/she attacked your rear from the rear didn't you, my bad...:)

A couple of years ago, while helping our neighbors with their chickens a Welsummer rooster got me in the arm with his tallons. It bled a lot and took a week to heal, plus antibiotics for two weeks. The da***n thing make great chicken soup though.

Oh, so your a vegan unless your attacked and then you're a cannibal. I see how you are now, you've been keeping the real Penny Lynn locked in a closet... I bet next you're going to say you only used the broth...:)

Now I have to go look up Welsummer on Google to see what the "beast" looked like that attacked you... poor thing... you...not the rooster... hope it didn't leave a nasty scar... did you put honey on it?

I looked it up and that's the same kind I had once, good hearty layer, mostly brown eggs, never had problems with the rooster at all... what angle did he attack from... if you say rear... I'm asking for an 8X10... glossy... full length... photo... of this "rear" that drives the male animals wild...strictly for scientific research... you know...ahem...:)

Thought you were a country girl who knew her way around different kinds of critters... are you one of those accident prone animal experts like Jungle Jack? Okay, I've enjoyed teasing you and now I'll stop, for today.
Unless you have another story of "when animals attack".

You posted it to NPP who posted the Welsummer story, not Penny.
By the way, the hens are nice, the neighbors have a flock of at least 30 and they are calm, reliable layers and have large dark brown eggs with black speckles on them. It was just a couple of their roosters that were a problem.

Mornin Mr. Counselor.

When my boy was little (5 or 6) he took a wing whoopin from one of our geese that left him with a busted lip, black eye, and bruises all over his back, neck, and arms from the bites.

He was goose hunting the other evening, and when I asked what he was going to do with one if he knocked it down. He said:
"I'm gonna kick that sucker from one end of this field to the other till there ain't a feather left on it. Then I'm gonna take it home, and eat it. I still remember what one of its relatives did to me!"
It made me laugh because I remember it well too. I was the one who made the goose stop with a swat to the head with a plastic bat. That goose never was quite right after that. Lol!

We will be having my mother in law's German rouladen with other German dishes. I'll pass on the purple cabbage, and saurkraut though.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and a great day!
