I'm a retired big city LEO. When I was shot on duty inside my patrol car I was the last of
four police officers shot in four days. All of this in three separate incidents. All four of us survived
and all of us eventually returned to duty. I had to undergo two operations. Sad to say that each of the
three perpetrators were Black.
I think what's overlooked in predominately Black high crime areas is the fact that good people have to live in
this environment 24/7. These are folks that struggle daily to make ends meet, bring up their children to be decent and honest
or try to exist on a retirement/disability check. The one thing they all know for certain is to mind your own business....or else.
If they step up and act as a witness to a crime, for instance, what kind of retaliation can they expect? They are trapped with
no way out. I guess what I'm saying is that something should be done to ease their daily fears but after nearly 30 years serving
in that big city their fears have only increased.

My solution would take two years.

1. All pro teams must be on the field/rink/court etc. for the playing of the Anthem or God Bless America.
A letter to each of the professional league home offices would explain that failure to do so should
constitute game forfeiture. The letter would further advise that it wouldn't matter what individual
players or coaches did during the salute to the flag. The protests could continue.
2. That rule in place, it would be a no brainier for the IRS to draw up a list of members of the various sports
teams that should be targeted for an in depth tax audit. The reasoning behind the audit would be that if
no respect is shown for our National Symbol the same disrespect probably would be shown for a tax return.
Like cheating your ass off.

Hey, the IRS routinely goes after suspected mobsters just based on a similar logic.
I'm not saying that protesting athletes and coaches have to love the United States....just display a little respect or they just
might get audited.

Listen kid, before you make a fool out of yourself on this site you should know what you're
posting is accurate. How do you think Al Capone went to jail? Three radio talk show hosts that
I sometimes listen to are routinely audited. When I was attached to DEA I was surprised to see
IRS investigators going over tax returns of persons we were investigating. Look up the sad
story of Peter Schiff's father (worth millions) who died in prison rather than pay taxes that
he felt were illegal.

Good god. Can you conservative snowflakes not stop crying over your poor little flag. Hell, you spit on your government daily so why the obsession with the flag? Do you think government and flag don't somehow connect together? And tell me, what is the military fighting for if not the right to protest? Are our rights suppose to only exist if they don't bother you fricking snowflake conservative's? Hey, Petey, did you notice that yesterday in Mexico City Marshawn Lynch of the Oakland Raiders sat out the US National Anthem and then rose to stand for the Mexican Anthem? Oh yeah, Petey that sure did happen. I think that man who I really used to like as a football player should be forced off the team and not paid one more cent this year. How about ignoring it? It only has lasting meaning because right wing nutters are so upset. If you ignore it the protest looses its power over you. I find it somewhat satisfying that by this simple reverent jesture a hand full of players have effectively taken away from loads of right wing nutters the one thing they looked forward to every Sunday. These are no€™t the people with season sky boxes they are the ones flopping into broken down BarcaLoungers in their underware and washing down crappy take out pizza with twelve packs of bud light. These clowns highlight in life was playing fantasy football with their fellow clods, and now they have lost one of the few things in their otherwise miserable lives that brought them joy. The sad thing is that their self imposed loss has likely resulted in lots of wives being beaten and dogs being kicked.
