So here I sit, in the hospital. I who pride myself on strength, ambition. A simple cold brought home with a college visit, in very short order
gave me a crippling case of pneumonia. Last time I was in the hospital, 14 years ago, the birth of my final daughter. Ths is not about
me. Anyone who has spent time in the hospital, knows, lots of time to kill, crummy, tv, old magazines. So after looking through the drawers in my room, was very surprised to find no Bible. Weren't there always Bibles in every room? Who, breathing their last, would not want to reach out for the Word of God? "Yeah, though I walk through the shadow of death....? So I asked. After 45 minutes, one nurse
was able to produce an old ratty King James, literally
looked like it spent some time in the toilet. When did this happen? Is this an Obama era purge?
obamacare the new God? Any ideas?

I went to one major hospital to visit family and in the Chapel, their copy had some of the pages ripped out, there is no consideration for others who find value with the words of God, btw I hope you got healthy in that institution, many go in and for some reason don't survive their visit. PS I don't think you're prideful to be reaping any kind of neglect ( removing His fence of protection) from God. Get Well.

Most of my Hospital stays have been in Yale Medical and up until my last admission five years ago they had new copies of the bible in the side table. There were also frequent visits from clergy and lay people.

'out of the woods' I hope you have fully recovered and are out of the woods!

I empathize with you having spent nearly 4 months hospitalized on my back. I was given rehab before being discharged. I only said this; so you know, I have understanding of your circumstances.

Too often, we become too involved with ourselves, we neglect to appreciate the little things: the breathe of life; water; food; our loved ones; our law-abiding neighbors and friends that allow us to live in peace; and most of all, our Creator, the Great God of the Bible who once blessed our nation.

The Great God of the Bible gives us meaning and the highest purpose for living. We need to return to His Ways.

God gave this to me as a comfort and I'll pass it on to you:
God is not a figment of man's imagination... He is real!
Man is a figment of God's imagination... that makes us real!

It is so simple; and yet, so deep for me. May the Great God of the Bible Bless you and yours.

I hope you soon fully recover, I can reassure you that Obama did not go through your hospital room and remove the Bible, if he did don’t you think he would have left a quran? I am not aware of bibles in secular hospital rooms, however almost all hospitals have a Chaplin program to meet the religious needs of patients and their families.

Several friends have also said that there were no Bibles in their hospital rooms. That is now the norm for motels too. When NPP had his heart surgery, there was no Bible in his room either, but his surgeon brought the one he had at home to loan to NPP. However, the surgeon is a special friend connected through our work with abused children. He and his wife adopted one of "our boys" years ago which makes the family part of our ever growing family.

Gosh Woods, so sorry to hear your not feeling well. I hate hospitals. Seems like they put everything just out of your reach so you can't get at it. That's very sad to hear you couldn't find a Bible. Very sad indeed. My prayers are with you and I hope you get well very soon.

Hope you're feeling better now, ootw. But the "purge" on our Holy Bible has always been in full-force with "lefty," the Bible and our 10 Commandments, in "leftyville;" and have been fruitlessly, feebly, and fraudulently replaced with teachings of "Rules for Radicals," and the American version of the "Communist Manifesto," the "Weather Underground Manifesto." It's all part of our "experimental," all-seeing, free-market Western representative republic. The necessary "crash-tests" that have made U. S. the most humanitarian and powerful nation the world has ever known, just electively (D)ecapitated the past Marx/Alinsky (D), administration. Now that "WE" have learned the necessary lessons of obsolete {and now mid-evil} ideologies, agendas and governments who always attempt to (D)ictate superiority and "overthrow" our "Shining Light on the Hill," "WE" elected patriotic, constitutionalist, conservative, real-American, God-fearing, born-again, President "45" {Isaiah "45" "The Good Shepherd"} to "(R)estore (D)elapidated (D)wellings," and put God back on top. I would not be surprised if your message of Bible absent "obamanations" is not being acted-on, blessedly, as-"WE"-speak. It's a new world out there. Keep-up the good work, ootw!!!

The Gideons put bibles in hospitals but I think some might get tossed out because of health concerns a lot of vary sick people touch them

Glad you are better now, Woods..

A few years ago I had a big deal surgery and they had the very talkative Chaplin visit me.. I do not recall if a Bible was in each room, but someone did let me know that if I wanted one they would bring me one..

As was mentioned.. I think health concerns would be a factor in keeping them in each room..

Yup.... that old saying is true... "Pride Cometh Before A Fall".... some haven't reached it yet, but time is on their side. All to often we sit and wonder how did we get "here" from "there"..... ? I sit here waiting for my time to come... while every thing in my path seems a bigger obstacle for me to go through... yet I managed to put one foot in front of the other...... hoping HELP is on the way. Living a life of a loner in this house of horrors, I sit and wonder what else can go wrong here..... cause nothing is in my favor. But as you can see... I'm still writing.. so it all can't be bad. Have a Nice Day everyone!!!

Cheer up Andy..

Lots of us feel down and out at times..

While you can not "snap out of it" a Dr. can prescribe some little pill that will take the edge off and you will wonder how you ever felt so low..

Nothing wrong about that in any way.. Like having the flu.. You feel bad but can recover..

So do not give up.. work at seeing the sun shine and a new day..

You may feel truly bad as the sun sets but it will rise the next day..

The world has had many time when it seemed all hope was lost, yet we are here now..

We are with you buddy...
