Mrs. B. spent several years volunteering at a no kill shelter here where there were dogs not able to be adopted because of their dispositions.
One in particular, a bulldog of some sort was deemed as dangerous, and she was warned NOT to enter his kennel. Well, she did, and that dog loved her! The old guy had gone through Lord knows what, and he sensed love, and kindness with no fear involved, and took to my wife like she was his best friend. They wouldn't let us bring him home, and give him a try because he was pretty jacked up, but he loved, loved, loved my wife. She kept going there in spite of our disapproval of their policies until the old guy had to be put down.

I always watch my dogs, and my horse for signs of trouble. Old school? Yeah. Reliable? Yeah.

Have had dogs for the better part of my life back when I was growing up when our dogs got old and or sick we never had the money to take them to a Vet so when it came time we had to put them down ourselves to end their suffering it was the hardest and saddest time to go thru with it and many a tear was shed .

As a kid (still today), watching Travis put down 'Old Yeller' near the end of that movie was/is a tear-jerker moment for me.

I accidently locked my dog, and my now ex wife for 2 hours in the garage. When I got back, one was so happy to see me, while the other was very upset. Can you guess which one was happy.

Uh, was that a trick question, or are you just jerking our chains In either event, I'd guess the dog.

You guess right, he was wagging his tail, jumping up for me to pat him, while she gave me the silent treatment, and for dinner I fixed myself a bowl of cornflakes.

My being able to determine the blatantly obvious is just a gift with which I was blessed.

We have 2 dogs now,A black lab,AND a golden retriever,We had a Rottweiler, that was mean as a hellcat took 2 days, to get him trust us,turned out to be a great dog. A rattle snake bit him,He died before the vet could treat him.

I am sorry you lost your dog. And you gave an excellent reason to keep at least one cat on your land. Cats hunt the same foods as snakes, when you have an effective cat, snake population goes way down.... they can actually clear 2 acres,
per cat, of mice or other rodents leaving snakes nothing to eat... snakes go elsewhere. Give your puppies a belly scratch for me...

This image uses a service dog in the military, but I think it pretty much applies wherever dogs and humans are present together!

Unfortunately, Wolfie, I do not live in a situation that would be fair to a dog.
I did have a dog for 17 years, and he was the most trusted friend I ever had.
I have cropped myself out of this picture, but this is Mr. Perry Ellis Dog when we both lived in Dallas.

sorry Paul
I have always had a dog until the last one had to be put down
I'm tired of losing my best friends, and I'm fed up with the heart break
sides another one would prolly outlive me
and then (he-She)would be heart broken

I am babying an 11 year old Irish Wolfhound, (the average life expectancy is 8 years) hoping to get another year out of my Katie, she still enjoys life and gets up and runs, (even plays a little), but when the time comes it will break my heart and I know it
