This image uses a service dog in the military, but I think it pretty much applies wherever dogs and humans are present together!

Do you have a dog ?......Punk ?
I rescue animals and no matter what condition the dog is in or how badly they have been mistreated, I have never encountered a "bad" dog. They are the most appreciative, other than horses, when they are removed from their bad situations.I have watched them mourn for the loss of a companion, I have watched them cry real tears, I have seen them smile, and I know that they have similar emotions as humans. It is true, if your dog does not like a person then you need to be real careful around that individual.

Unfortunately, Wolfie, I do not live in a situation that would be fair to a dog.
I did have a dog for 17 years, and he was the most trusted friend I ever had.
I have cropped myself out of this picture, but this is Mr. Perry Ellis Dog when we both lived in Dallas.

You can always trust the instinct of a dog.
Have a good day and let us try to be as trustworthy as our dogs are........................Paul !!

I have 6 dogs, mostly because people have dumped them. You are exactly right no matter the abuse they have suffered if you are kind to them you get love and devotion. I have often wondered how these wonderful companions can tell who is not "right", but they sure seem to know somehow

Mrs. B. spent several years volunteering at a no kill shelter here where there were dogs not able to be adopted because of their dispositions.
One in particular, a bulldog of some sort was deemed as dangerous, and she was warned NOT to enter his kennel. Well, she did, and that dog loved her! The old guy had gone through Lord knows what, and he sensed love, and kindness with no fear involved, and took to my wife like she was his best friend. They wouldn't let us bring him home, and give him a try because he was pretty jacked up, but he loved, loved, loved my wife. She kept going there in spite of our disapproval of their policies until the old guy had to be put down.
I always watch my dogs, and my horse for signs of trouble. Old school? Yeah. Reliable? Yeah.

It sucks that you can't have a dog now Paul. They do us good!
Here is our latest addition.

I am truly jealous Arch!
Always remember DOG is GOD spelled backwards.
(atheist, agnostic or true believer, I think there's something to that!!!)

I always trust my dogs and if they don't like someone I stay away from that person.
I have walked into situations where a dog is snarling with their hackles up.... just defying anyone to come close to them.
I give them my hand, palm down, they sniff and then their tail starts to wag. Is it the way I smell, I do not know. Animals know who can be trusted.
I am sorry that Ms. B's friend was put down. I have had animals put down, not because of temperament but because of incurable illness.... it is never easy!

You have a generous heart! If it were not for people like you...... this world would be a horrible place to live! One day I may be bit, but it has not happened yet even when I have had to carry or handle injured animals. You may know by now,
I am a soft hearted person when it comes to children and animals. I can not stand by and watch either suffer.
So thank you Rick for having a loving heart!

NPP, they have an ability.... an we would all do well to pay attention to our animals around others.... not just strangers, but family. I am positive that some animals can sense when a person has cancer or other issues. I have seen dogs react to people who were about to have a seizure or heart attack. Perhaps they are just blessed.
