Question of the Day
Posted by Keith Broaders on August 13, 2017

Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned a large number of slaves and if we take down the statue of Robert E. Lee should we also also remove the faces of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson from Mount Rushmore?

Many Americans are offended by the Confederate flag because they associate the Confederate flag with slavery while at the same time they revere the flag of the United States which represented a country that promoted slavery for over 200 years.

Did you know that Robert E. Lee voluntarily freed his slaves years before Ulysses S. Grant was compelled to free his slaves?

U.S. Grant had several slaves who were only freed after the 13th amendment in December of 1865. When asked why he did not free his slave earlier, Grant stated the "Good help is so hard to come by these days."
And the HITS just keep coming... br br br >&g... (show quote)

Lee didn't voluntarily free his slaves. The slaves he had were his father-in-laws and pursuant to his will Lee freed his slaves. Without his will one doesn't know what Lee would have done with the slaves. That's your problem Sici, you cherry pick history to form a very warped view of how things really were. Had Lee won the institution of slavery would have remained intact whereas Grant knew, that upon completion of the war, all slave's would be freed.

There is no doubt that racism persisted on both sides but it was the northern liberals who were fighting to change it while you southern conservatives were the ones who were fighting to keep the status quo. And as we witnessed from Charlottesville to this day little has changed...

The Civil War was about other things besides slavery. Both Lee and Jackson viewed slavery as an evil institution. Only a small percentage of people in the South owned slaves. Somewhere between three to five percent. When you hear people talk about slavery today, every Grandma who lived in the South owned a slave to wash and clean. Man, I tell you ignorance abounds in our current culture. That is that new edumacation.

Actually I think it is more appropriate for a foreign country to honor our former President because he has done much more for them than he has for us. He was always more comfortable in front of foreign crowds bashing America, so I believe one of the countries he helped out should put him on their currency. I nominate the Iranian Rial, which is worth 0.00003 Yankee Dollars.

Kenya would seem more appropriate.

Slavery was at the center of the southern economy. Without it the southern economy would have collapsed.

Well that's part of it, the Trickery of how they told the story... but that's not all of it or the real truth.

Much of the war was about the Cotton Trade and routes with buyers from across the Pond, it also involved many other facets of Wealth creation, distribution, contracts, etc...

It's such a Deep rabbit hole and the War Really never ended anyway.

I know Nick, it's a very complex environment evolving.
Now try to imagine that half or more of what we've been taught in History books are all fabrications.
That's not how it really happened...

Who benefits from these lies ?

Why did they write, re write History over and over again across 6 generations ?

Orwell has predicted this in "1984"
We have been seeing this play out for quite a while now.

Wrong. There were not "hundreds of thousands of black soldiers in the Union Army."

Who did this poll that showed "25% of Republicans think the Emancipation Proclamation was a mistake."

I do believe you're puling this you-know-what out of your posterior!

PS: Where, ie in what battle, were black Union army soldiers "instrumental in defeating the rebels?" Ft Wagner?

The Radical Left Funded By George Soros Planning More Racially-Fueled Attacks In Seattle, Baltimore and Kentucky
by Geoffrey Grider August 14, 2017

As we reported to you over the weekend, the radical Left terror groups Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA are funded by George Soros. In Virginia, they turned a white nationalist rally into a bloodbath by inciting violence and being the first to strike. 3 people died because of their actions, and now they want to take their show on the road. Here is a list-in-progress of places where you can expect ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter to slither up to next.
Full story and their next targets:

Do you see what's brewing?
Al Sharpton said today that the Jefferson Memorial in DC should come down.

Here's the irony, Sici, if the democrats (liberal progressives) were really serious about getting rid of ALL vestiges of slavery in America, they would have to abolish their own political party.

By the end of the Civil War, roughly 179,000 black men (10% of the Union Army) served as soldiers in the U.S. Army and another 19,000 served in the Navy. Nearly 40,000 black soldiers died over the course of the war—30,000 of infection or disease. Black soldiers served in artillery and infantry and performed all noncombat support functions that sustain an arm--carpenters, chaplains, cooks, guards, laborers, nurses, scouts, spies, steamboat pilots, surgeons, and teamsters.

Black infantrymen fought gallantly at Milliken's Bend, LA; Port Hudson, LA; Petersburg, VA; and Nashville, TN, and the July 1863 assault on Fort Wagner, SC. These battles played a role in the war, but they were hardly "instrumental in defeating the rebels." Examples of the battles that were instrumental in deciding the outcome were Gettysburg, Chickamauga, Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania, and Antietam (Sharpsburg).
