I totally understand. My Rotty died while I was in Vietnam. My family didn't tell me until I returned home. I still miss him. He weighed 95 lbs but because of how I handled him when he was a pup, he, at 95 lbs, he still thought he was a lap dog and let me carry him around upside down in my arms like a baby. He was soooo special.

My neighbor brought mine home some one dumped him at a gas station. We had just lost a roc puppy and my neighbor knew I was upset so when he saw him he picked him up. vet said he was 21/2 yrs old but was half the size he should have been and only weight 66 pounds and he was scared of every thing brooms. chains loud voices and MEN it took him 2 yrs to not be afraid to get close to my sons when they did something that scared him he crawled to a hiding place or into my lap. He slept on my bed and he ended up being the most spoiled dog and he was protective of his family you didnt walk into our house you had to make a show of welcoming them in or he wasnt happy. One of my sons brought a puppy he had over he wanted to show it nick and we were talking while nick snifted the new comer when we looked down the puppy was gone we were looking around nick just kept wagging his nub and I looked at him closer there was a little tail sticking out of his mouth wagging my son grabed the tail snach him out and with puppy hanging upside down my son huffed off stating your dog will never play with mine I thought I would die laughing nick thought it was great fun puppy seemed happy dog parent just have no sense of humor some times
