An awful lot of people have an exaggerated idea of how much minimal Social Security is, which is less than half of the widely advertised "average". Those who indulge in such things tell me there is a Starbucks about an hour away, but I don't have the gas money to travel that far for a cup of coffee. When the deposit shows up in the bank, I pay the bills outstanding, deduct the bills that are autopaid, and look at the list of oncoming expenses. Since it is rare for small orders to be shipped free, IF I seem to have more than $25 of mad money available, I might try tracking down that costco website to see what the then price would come to, and weigh that against local possible excursions, remembering to factor in my 15 year old vehicle's tendency to need repairs.

I get the minimum also, but I have few expenses. If I try real hard, I can actually save some money. It's not easy, but I can do it. My major expense is rent, which is 250.00 a month. aside from food and other necessities, my money is free and clear.

I may have the palate of a slug but I taste very little difference in most coffees. Starbucks had to be some of the worst stuff I ever drank. I have made the attempt three times, assuming that one or two places might have made the coffee wrong, but three times and they are out. I bought Gevalia coffee for a while and it tasted very good but the price per pound was insane. I drink a lot of coffee, ten to fifteen cups a day. I have been buying Shoprite's Decaf (cheap stuff) and any other brand on sale like Choc Full of Nuts, Maxwell house or Folgers. I avoid French Roasts because they tend to be harsh tasting. I mix the decaf and regular whatever, in equal parts. This gives a blend that doesn't taste too significantly different from brand to brand and in general tastes pretty good.

I have had Blue Mountain and while it tasted good it was about three to four times more expensive than my mix. None of these super premium coffees taste so exquisitely delightful as to warrant their price.

Rent at $250.00 a month? Where on Earth did you find that? What are you living in, a cardboard box?

Nope. Someone had a mobile home with a spare room. the mobile home is paid for, so all we need to worry about is utilities. Pretty sweet deal.

Why can't I ever find something like that?

The thing is that I wasn't really looking for it. It just dropped into my lap. I met the guy at McDonald's. We were both regulars. He found out that I needed a place to stay, and made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Jim, That was a good post. I think Howard Shitz might be a spelling improvement.

Starbucks is pro-Muslim and anti-gun. That is all the reason I need to not spend money there. That and the fact that their coffee is overpriced and not that good. You can get better coffee at Burger King for a lot less money; and the ones here in GA don't care if you wear a gun while you drink it.

I went to a Starbucks that I used to frequent. There was a good crowd there. I told them pretty much what you just said, and I made sure that everyone there heard me. They might have called the police. I don't know, since I left right away.

They said they were going to hire a bunch of Muslim "refugees." I suppose they think there aren't any Americans that need jobs so they will give preference to foreigners. Screw them and their overpriced, crappy coffee.
