Germany is discussing how to prevent people from poorer EU countries from coming to Germany. How does that affect America? Germany still has a better standard of living than America, because we have so many poor people with no income. How does that make us better than socialist European countries?

In reply to Homestead, yes the Germans can have the highest standard of living in the world and still give immigrants free health care. I am not sure about food stamps, I have not heard of them in Germany. The USA is far behind here.

Thank God we are not like Europe!! Germany has the highest standard of living in the world, the most union invovement in induustry, the strongest manufacturing economy. Why would we want to be anything like that?

Correction to my earlier post. The Treaty of Paris concerning US recognition was signed in 1783, and ratified by all parties in 1784.

Incidentally, what is illegal about the current President of the United States? Please don't tell me he was born in Kenya while his mother was in Hawaii, I have heard that story and I do not believe such a long-distance birth is possible

A******n is not murder under US law as interpreted by the US Supreme Court. In some circumstances a woman has the constitutional right to k**l her unborn child. If your religion calls it murder you should not have an a******n or approve an a******n, but you have no right to make your religious view part of State or Federal law. The exception is, you have the right to advocate for amending the US constitution to make a******n illegal. Even then, historically, forcing a religion on others has usually had bad results.

The delaration would have been illegal had the English won. They would have hanged all the men who signed it for treason and the 13 colonies would have remained British. It was in fact made legal retroactively by a treaty signed in Paris in 1793 where England recognised the new country of USA. In England the day of the signing is US independence day.
