This is just two of many examples of NFL restrictions on player conduct. The NFL Game Operations Manual says this:

The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.

During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the f**g, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American f**g is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the f**g and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.


This is how NFL players should conduct themselves. It has nothing to do with 1st Amendment rights.

But I was too light to make it at 145 and 5'11" The Big leagues would have devoured me. Still, lots of fun. I never thought of any hit as brutal but just the game as meant to be played. Like Trump. We had this running back that on the first play of a game had his leg broken. Before I went to him, I banged helmets with the defender that injured him. I came in the next play and had my nose broken and still have a scar; I had no hard feelings. The game was finally called the next play when our QB was knocked unconscious. My thought: great opponents. We were totally outclassed. Have to appreciate that fact.

I appreciate what you said. We see differently. In reality, f**gs are worshiped, in every nation, by many. This nation was not built, in my eyes, on a foundation of God but on principles of freedom, not entirely of the Bible. The wonderful and intoxicating line from the Declaration of Independence--"We hold these t***hs to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"--is Pagan, not Christian. Just the term "Creator" tells you this is not a Christian but Universalist concept. Jesus would need to be mentioned by name, he is the one source of life, liberty, and happiness; not this vague reference to a "Creator," that could be Krishna, Allah, Buddha, or wh**ever.

None of those rights are endowed but, according to Christianity, only found in Christ. In Christ, the pursuit of happiness is a sin,a folly, and the cause of misery and strife in the world. The only pursuit of a follower of Christ is the glory of God. Freedom and life is not endowed, by the Bible, but found in Christ alone. No exceptions. Jefferson was a humanist before its time. Government, for him, could secure, maintain, and enhance those "unalienable rights" he mentioned. Craft a perfect document and humankind would find its greatness. That they kept s***ery intact after stating "all men are created equal" is very telling. They made a compromise in their ideals: God does not.

You said "...follow as best we can in the footsteps of our Lord we have salvation": by my understanding, you miss the Mark. Contemplating "What would Jesus do?" defies spirit and grace. Our effort to follow the Law stands against us. Wait on the Lord! This is the lesson from the Old Testament: our understanding and intent is always flawed. Resisting temptation seems sound, wise, and good on paper, yet contradicts what Christ asked of us. Surrender! Give up your beliefs, judgments, and rules to an open heart for Christ to enter.

I can understand the sentiment of someone who either did not play or do well in football. It seems violently stupid. Not a sport at all but an outlet for aggression. And it is for some. I played four years semi-pro: many of the players I came to know, on the field and off, could be classified as psychos. Liked violence and hurting people. But that does not matter. Free speech does, whether we like it or not. They take a knee and you object: America, thank God.

Simple answer: a resounding "Yes!" But Houston, we have a problem:

Matthew 4:8-9: Satan's power is over all the nations of the earth. Romans13: Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

We have an obvious conflict. Stand or knell?

I believe Christians should pray (not v**e) for "Kings and all that are in authority; that we (true believers) may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all Godliness and honesty" (I Tim.2:2). Our calling is unto Christ and a path of separation from "this present evil world" (Gal.1:4). Read also Matthew 7:13-14; John 17:14-17; Romans 12:1-2; I Cor.1:26-31; Eph.2:1-10; Eph.5:11; II Tim. 4:9-11; Titus 2:11-14; James 1:27; James 4:4; I John 1:3-6; I John 2:15-17. I do not find anywhere in the Word of God that believers should be involved in political affairs or any other worldly activities, but rather the opposite (II Cor.6:14-18).

The picture God gives us, I believe, is of a world condemned and waiting for judgment to fall (see also Gen.19:29; John 12:31; I John 5:19; Rev.6,8,9,11,16). God is saving souls out of it. Christians are viewed by God as pilgrims and sojourners here in this wilderness land. Our citizenship is in heaven (Psa.39:12; Phil.3:20; Heb.11:13; I Pet.1:17). We are left here as ambassadors (John 17:18; II Cor. 5:20), not political activists. We are to "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's" (Luke 20:24-25), obey the laws (Rom.13:1; Titus 3:1), and "walk circumspectly" (Eph.5: 15). We are not to be "yoked together" in this world's schemes (II Cor. 6:14-18).

F**gs of any nation are worldly, and as such are at enmity with God. They represent only separation from God. So, too, National Anthems. They are not hymns to HIS glory but the glory of man. Jesus would take a knee at any National Anthem. But there is more.

I did not jump to conclusions. It is extremely strange to state that you find it odd I created a thread on something I reject. What is every protest about? What a person rejects as unjust, criminal, oppressive, bad policy, sexist, r****t, or wh**ever. This is not an oddity: it is basic. Belief in the Rapture has a negative effect on Christians, my point for writing about it, if you bothered to read.
