Your analogy is false.

A = Not
Theos = god

Religions are like monkeys.
All monkeys are mammals.
All mammals have hair.
A bald monkey does not have hair.
Therefore a bald monkey is not a mammal.
Therefore a bald monkey is not a monkey.

Theos is not the same as theist. A Theist is one who BELIEVES gods exist. Atheist's think that they probably don't.

The monkey business seems to be non sequitor nonsense to the religious assertion. Or perhaps I don't understand what you mean by it.

Bald = no hair
Atheist = no belief in god.
its that simple.

With which I wholeheartedly concur. It IS a religion. Sorta like narcissism.

Narcissism is a personality disorder, not a religion.

Atheism is one isolated belief, that supernatural gods probably don't exist. One belief is not a 'set.'

I want you to know, as one woman to another, that comments using the word "thumpers" is degrading, to Christians, yes, but to decent women as well. It is such low-life usage of the English language, and so totally and completely insulting. Makes you sound a bit scared of it so you mask your fear with "masculine bloviating". I can't ask you to please talk without showing hatred for people who have done NOTHING to you, but I'd be happy if you would.

I do not h**e individual Christians. I do h**e the ignorance of people who ask me to accept their ragged collection of ancient fairy tales without ever having read them themselves with any degree of adult comprehension.

I apologize if the use of the word 'thumper' offended you. I used it in response to another poster, after they used the term, assuming it was commonly accepted parlance. Perhaps there is some sense that this word is degrading to decent women in general that I am unaware of. I simply used it to support the metaphorical use of the word 'noise' in what was meant to be innocent word play.

I am not aware of any fear and don't know what you mean by masculine bloviating.

Do you have any idea of the early childhood and lifelong religious, psychological and sexual abuse many have suffered at the hands of Christians and other religions, both present day and throughout history? (The 'Reverend Phelps? Now there is some real low life usage of the precious one life we all will ever have.)

I don't believe in fictional characters or myths and fables myself like the many gullible bible thumpers around here do.. :thumbup: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Seems sometimes, when they get together, those 'thumpers' get a rhythm and a beat going that makes it hard to hear any sense in what they are trying to say! Can they not just assert their thoughts and opinions without the noise? I have studied the bible for years. There are some pretty stories and there are hijacked and bastardized historical misrepresentations, some reasonable moral principles prescribed, and then there are monumental atrocities and permission to commit frankly immoral behaviors. There are some scientifically sound assertions and there is frankly some pretty looney stuff that is demonstrably untrue! They cherry pick stuff they like and reject the rest. I just go one step further and reject the whole thing.

For some period of time after you post something, you can edit it. I notice a lot of empty posts, so I think what people are doing is simply deleting the text as an edit.

Thanks.

A peculiar argument that does not define "mental illness" and does not address other "mental illnesses" with no intellectual effect. Take for example Kleptomania, a recognized mental illness that is not effected by intelligence, nor are all sufferers ill adjusted socially.

And yet society still punishes their actions. I suppose you think that those punishments arise from a religious origin. I do, but I think Atheism is a fundamentalist, radical, dogmatic religion.

Stealing is a crime against another's property. The theft is punished, the illness is treated. The punishment arises from and is prescribed
by the penal code which is derived from principles of law founded byThe US CONSTUTION in this country.

Homosexuality, when practiced by consenting adults in private is not a crime against anyone nor is it an illness. There is no crime to be punished. There is no illness to be treated.

ATHEISM IS A RELIGION LIKE BALD IS A HAIR COLOR!
A = NOT; THEIST = BELIEVER IN GOD(S)
Being an atheist means only that I don't believe magical gods exist in reality. Period.

Put them back in your nose,,,, since your quote made no sense especially when aimed at me........asshole

I strive to be clear. In fact I should have specified that SOME human children of Christian parents are adopted by SOME L**T persons... in one of my recent posts...

Just because you can't understand what I post doesn't mean I am an asshole (doesn't mean I'm NOT an asshole either though, I suppose.) If you could be more specific about which quote and what doesn't make sense to you, perhaps I could help?

Hello again, cant beleve. Thank you. I do suffer from occasional foot in mouth disease! I trust the kindness of others to point it out for me. Pretty much the reason I'm here. Things get stale in the brain without frequent input of new thoughts to ponder.

Not fair to assume the unwanted are chrisitian abandonned children,,, I would say, though those persons think they are they really are not.... and then you have some poor young girl christian or not who fell for some smooth bs,,, and in that case the noble-er decision is to put the baby up for adoption rather than bore a hole in the back of its head and scramble its brains while it screams and kicks.........

But the reality is, that a******ns are primarily due to convenience and the fact they are funded by the govt not for the "health" of the mother, like the left lies about
Not fair to assume the unwanted are chrisitian aba... (show quote)

I wonder if it might be an even more noble decision to recognize the bs, admit the mistakes, learn from them, take full responsibility for the consequences and parent your own child or grandchild. Or find another Christian person to parent your child. I suspect placing the child for adoption is to protect the IMAGE of Christianity while denying the mistake (child).

Homosexuality is not an illness, there is no 'treatment', no shame and no problem.
If someone is homosexual and you don't like it, fine. But you have no right to PUNISH anyone for it. If it disgusts you or makes you puke, you MAY have a psychological or medical issue underlying that or you may just be undereducated or an asshole. Or you may be religious.
