That is correct, generally I think "they" did not kiss any part of him but then I find the idea of a monolithic press corps to be nonsense. These people are very competitive and when it comes to "scoring" the best interviews and "scooping" the best stories they can be downright cutthroat but then the paranoid Right see a conspiracy behind every rock. Obama was urbane and educated in Government protocols so he knew how to play the game and charm the press when he thought he could but they did not let him or his people get away with anything if it meant a juicy story.
Trump on the other hand set out to be adversarial with the Press and they fed off his combative angry defensive thin skinned style and played him like a fiddle. Journalists for the most part are college educated, shrewd protagonists, sk**led in wrangling blustering bloviators and Trump was a target rich environment. Trump has never had to sharpen his debate sk**ls because in the primaries he won by just being belligerent and rude to a bunch of establishment wusses. The likes of George Stephanopoulous and Jake Tapper are unimpressed by this bluster. Journalists respect strong character but they perceive (IMO) that Trump is intellectually weak and unsure of himself and of course that makes for a juicy 24hr news cycle. If he could just restrain himself from tweeting for a week the networks would almost go dark.

I see it differently. When Obama got elected the repubs threw the kitchen sink at him and his followers whined about GOP foot d**gging and obstructionism almost exactly how the Trump team is whining now. If you want to be President then you had better be tough enough to take criticism because it will be your daily travail for every day you are on the job.
Even though I have issues with many of Obamas policies I give him credit for not being peevishly defensive the way Trump is. What I want to see is a President who can ignore the torpedoes and not lose his cool. Who can laugh at himself and charm the media but stick to his policy guns and win over opposition with clever arguments. That's a real leader because then he is focused on addressing the pressing domestic issues of the day and walking softly with a big stick in the wider world.

Congratulations that's a big win for you guys, cutting food stamps, while taxes for the rich. I'm not sure how much more embarrassment the US can take, but I know we're going to find out. I'll be here watching him continue to weave his lying web he'll probably hang himself with and I think I'll be here when the 45% people who didn't v**e will choose to get off their asses and get out and v**e, and I'm imagining it's not going to favor the grand OLD party.

But to be fair I guess we do have to get a handle on the sleazy underhanded crookedness of the right before we all v**e again.
