LJ, my wife worked for Social Service in Norfolk, Va. for 32 years. Every year they would go out an try to collect the homeless and put them in living Quarters, especially in the fall and winter but they wouldn't stay preferring to be on their own. Mostly due to booze or drug abuse.
You can't help those who won't even try to work with you to help them.
I'm now dealing with my wife with Alzheimer's and she's in the same situation as those homeless people except she has a warm and or cool roof over her head and I'm making sure she is fed everyday and she has the medical attention she needs.
Not what I had in mind for retirement but it is what it is. Mike

What's wrong with a VW? I've owned and rebuilt a few. Back in the late 60's I owned a 65 with a sun roof. I'd go up the Eastern Shore of Va. and Md. on my way to upstate Ny. skiing. I could tuck in behind a semi and almost take my foot off of the gas and it would pull me along. I also never got a speeding ticket because the law didn't think I was capable of going 65 mph. Mike
