THIS post I really take exception to. I was in both and retired from the reserves. With no statistics for verification, I have found both to be very conservative. So, trying to denigrate the reserves is both galling and moronic. When you've lost the souls of your boots wading through rice paddies(as I have)WITH 3-9 or traipsed across the desert sands with fellow reservists (as I have) then I'll consider us on equal footing.

So will YOU be researching the numbers and post them for us, rather than tag it onto one already excellent post? I, for one, respect the foreigners who have died for America, but I resent the hell out of assuming their not being mentioned while talking about Americans dying for other countries is somehow wrong. It isn't wrong. What the article was about was AMERICANS DYING ABROAD WHILE OUR "PRESIDENT" IS SUGGESTING WE ARE SELFISH. ALL WHO DIE FOR FREEDOM ARE WORTHY OF PRAISE. ALL WHO HAVE SERVED NO ONE AT ANY TIME HAS THE MORAL AUTHORITY TO CRITICIZE, AND THAT INCLUDES THE US "PRESIDENT". I can't recall any French official disrespecting the French soldiers for fighting for America's freedom.

About six miles from Maastricht, in the Netherlands, lie buried 8,301 American soldiers who died in "Operation Market Garden" in the battles to liberate Holland in the fall/winter of 1944.

Every one of the men buried in the cemetery, as well as those in the Canadian and British military cemeteries, has been adopted by a Dutch family who mind the grave, decorate it, and keep alive the memory of the soldier they have adopted. It is even the custom to keep a portrait of "their" American soldier in a place of honor in their home.

Annually, on "Liberation Day," memorial services are held for "the men who died to liberate Holland." The day concludes with a concert. The final piece is always "Il Silenzio," a memorial piece commissioned by the Dutch and first played in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of Holland's liberation. It has been the concluding piece of the memorial concert ever since.

This year the soloist was a 13-year-old Dutch girl, Melissa Venema, backed by André Rieu and his orchestra (the Royal Orchestra of the Netherlands). This beautiful concert piece is based upon the original version of taps and was composed by Italian composer Nino Rossi.

After you watch the above web site, check out the below. The number is how many America’s died at each place.

Our European arrogance, in alphabetical order

1. The American Cemetery at Aisne-Marne, France... A total of 2289

2. The American Cemetery at Ardennes, Belgium... A total of 5329

3. The American Cemetery at Brittany, France... A total of 4410

4. Brookwood, England - American Cemetery... A total of 468

5. Cambridge, England... A total of 3812

6. Epinal, France - American Cemetery... A total of 5525

7. Flanders Field, Belgium... A total of 368

8. Florence, Italy... A total of 4402

9. Henri-Chapelle, Belgium... A total of 7992

10. Lorraine , France... A total of 10,489

11. Luxembourg, Luxembourg... A total of 5076

12. Meuse-Argonne... A total of 14,246

13. Netherlands, Netherlands... A total of 8301

14. Normandy, France... A total of 9387

15. Oise-Aisne, France... A total of 6012

16. Rhone, France... A total of 861

17. Sicily, Italy... A total of 7861

18. Somme, France... A total of 1844

19. St. Mihiel, France... A total of 4153

20. Suresnes, France... A total of 1541

Remind those of our sacrifice and don't confuse arrogance with leadership. The count is 104,366 dead, brave Americans.

And we have to watch an American elected leader who apologizes to Europe and the Middle East that our country is "arrogant"!

HOW MANY FRENCH, DUTCH, ITALIANS, BELGIANS AND BRITS ARE BURIED ON OUR SOIL... AFTER DEFENDING US AGAINST OUR ENEMIES? WE DON'T ASK FOR PRAISE...BUT WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO APOLOGIZE!

Don't think I'm knocking your excellent post, but give credit where credit is due. According to some very reliable sources there were almost 14,000 French deaths (battle and disease) while fighting on our side in the Revolutionary War . It didn't list where they were buried.

I'm pretty certain it comes under freedom of expression (like in printed books).

I personally have no problem with the idea of porn itself. But I do have a problem with the system which manipulates and abuses vulnerable people (mostly women). In addition it tends to set up impossible body standards that can make the average person feel inadequate. I mean, from my extensive research you know.

Yeah, my "personal" experience came from 'Nam. Most people didn't know that the 3rd Mar Div actually "unofficially" sanctioned a skivvy house there.
But, anyway, if I invited someone with with a camera phone and someone to watch and paid through the watcher it would be legal?
And before the smart-ass comments: I'm too old and hopefully too smart to do that again.

Too true, but I was actually thinking of a more generic reason. I never could figure out WHY porn wasn't treated the same as prostitution. I mean, with the exception of a camera and crew, it's all money for sex.

Good point.

I can't speak for Bob, but in my case, I do care about Obama's policies and actions, and while I don't agree with all of them, I think he has steered a moderate course to get us out of a very deep hole we were in when he took office. I think his administration and the Democrats in Congress have been way too easy on the big banks, which still seem to be going about their extremely risky business with little or no oversight, and I think the Affordable Care Act (modeled on a plan drawn up by conservatives, although now they disown it) was a misguided attempt at getting bipartisan support (though the Blue Dog Democrats probably wouldn't have supported a single payer plan anyway). It seems like a lot of ultraconservatives on this site blame Obama for the sun rising in the east.

Interesting hyperbole and yours seems to be, at the least, a well thought out reply with not a red herring in sight. But, I myself, am an "ultra-conservative", but this comes with my own definition, not a stereotype. I actually prefer paleo-conservative. And as such I actually DO blame Obama (or his handlers) for most of the good being leached out of our society.
But, in this post, that is not the point. It was about useless retorts and diatribes and baiting simply for the purpose of inducing apoplexy in the responders. At times it rises to the level of a Craigslist Rant and Rave post. The litmus test for this type seems to be the response to a request for sources and/or links. It's usually just ignored or brings the wrath of cursing and name-calling accompanied with emoticons. But it almost never fails to do what the causal posts' actual intent was: impotent anger.

I have to ask; why do you guys continue to play into Badbob's hands and feed his ego? He (and much of his ilk) are a cross between a trap door spider and an angler fish. They don't know or don't care about Obama's policy's or actions, they just love the reactions generated by their simplistic goads. It's mainly a t***smogrified version of the "I know you are but what am I" mantra. Much of the discussion on this site quickly degenerates into a latter-day CB name calling contest.
There's a lot of good info on this site, but trying to learn anything by engaging in name calling is only raising your blood pressure and stroking their ego.

Why don't you concentrate on His teachings and not concern yourself with the rest for now. You DID say they resonate with you.

And as far as salvation goes, it's pretty simple: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

It doesn't get much simpler than that my friend.

If I may? Your last statement actually ALMOST explains the dichotomy. To my way of thinking it should be "it doesn't get much more absurd than that" Christians (and I'll use a LARGE paintbrush here) think that every thing they believe is true. Why? Basically just because they believe it is. Therefore, by definition, everyone else is wrong. People like me believe that it is just as valid of an argument to put a colander on your head, print up a few pages of gibberish and declare that when your adherents die they will win a new car for life, all the sex they can want and eternal bliss. There is just as much proof for that scenario as the for the Christian religion. To us (me) it would have to make sense and be repeatable for it to be accepted.

OK, ONE of the things that bothers me about the Christian religion (and a lot of others) is exactly what you just said. You "give" all your love to your God. You dev**e all that you can to that end and try to forgive all and everyone. However, God doesn't return the favor. He only loves you when you're singing hosannas to his name and professing your adoration. But if you're not and you don't, then he "loves" you right to Hell for practicing your right of self-determination that he gave you in the beginning.

Funny, I thought being Christian (meaning Christ-like) meant you turned the other cheek and/or forgave your adversaries rather than insulting them.

Great sacrifice? He endured a pain that he knew at the of which he would go back to Heaven, unlike all the other people that were crucified. On an eternal scale this was as infinitesimal as you can get.
