I think Old Gringo has jealousy issues. I wonder what they could be...

Because this is what Obama calls 'Success'.

The source of this post is the Legatum Institute, a rightwing Tory think tank, headquartered in London. It was established in the 1950s to oppose British socialism. It represents the interests of the British upper class.

Freedom must always be defined.

Freedom to do what? To whom?

If you are a prep-school Tory, I can only guess what you would like to do to the less privileged working classes of Britain.

Adults don't go around giving unsolicited advice to other adults.

I have never had a black man come up to me and say, "sir, please tell me how can I be the kind of pet negro idealized by conservative, uneducated w****s". Have you?

Brain, here I will disagree with you, We should pay members of Congress even more that they make now as they must have households in two locations. What should be the rule is that while in office the must live on what the make as a member of Congress, NO outside income allowed, not even person money they had before holding office except for the first move to D C. This might make it so someone besides the rich can run for office and for those who do not really want to serve leave off sooner. Also something needs to be done about the amount of money being spent on e******ns, I remember under Nixon he put in a tax credit with a upper limit of $200 dollars total that could be made for politic donations, this might be a good idea again, but it would be the max any person could give in political donations.

My thoughts? Not that they will change anything....

Pay members of congress the median wage for all Americans. Prohibit bribes disguised as speaking fees---and outlaw any former congress person from going to work as a congressional lobbyist---ever. If those things were done---then maybe talk about extra compensation for the two residence problem.

Also I would love to see 2 Supreme Court rulings overturned.

1.The 19th century ruling that provided legal personhood to corporations.

2. The Citizens United ruling, which obscenely equated bribes/the raining of campaign dollars (paid by the corporations in anticipation of future favors---) with free speech.

Ron, you need to take a college course in physical anthropology. Human beings and apes have a common ancestor. This hardly equals the concept of humans descending from apes.

For quite a few of us, science provides a far better explanation of things than do primitive campfire stories from the middle east.

My dad and yours were cut out of the same cloth. Mine was more afflicted with apathy coming from a family of twelve but, he did many great things too.

Depending upon what mood you might find me in, my parents were like this, except I always seemed to be the little Dickens...

IT WAS the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way- in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

Nevertheless it was MY CHILDHOOD and I wouldn't trade it for all the girls in California. Hold up a minute... I would sell cheaper, hell there's a recession on ya know?

Give them free stuff? I don't know of anyplace where recreational pot (or alcohol) are given out freely. Where is this magical place of which you speak? I am sure a lot of people here, on the left coast, would like to know.

Mr. ghost man, them sure were some decently stated and well thought out comments and, I thank you for your common sense and sanity. That is rarer than a Christian democrat these days (grin).

My ma was a very wise lady and she told me... "Son, you be careful out there in the world, because there is nothing so dangerous as a repentant whore or a reformed smoker..."

She was so smart and, I always listened to what my mamma told me, who doesn't, right?

My Dad was a reformed smoker, who unfortunately died from lung cancer 30 years after quitting. His words meant a lot to me.

My mother's? Not so much. My father was much more of a non-judgmental, "live and let live" kind of person.

People who always listen to what their mama says?

Aren't those the guys that people call "mama's boys"?

Rejection of fairy tales hardly equals atheism. A person can believe in God, without swallowing the middle eastern sheep herder, pre-science campfire stories, (that were eventually written down).

Moses invests
And Darwin was more clever than both of them.

After the GOP seven dwarves/clown car tips over, Jeb Bush will waltz in, for his Bush 3.0 c****ation, by the GOP adult table.

The big issue is whether the Democrats will nominate a true Democrat like Senator Warren, or Hillary (D-Wall St.), a Republican in d**g.

Google: Hillary Clinton, Goldman Sachs, "speakers" fees.

What planet are you from? Drugs should be a health issue, seriously? No the crack heads and heroin users should be in jail, they commit crimes, like murder, rape, etc. for their addictions. If it was up to the health department, what they give them a strap down on a gurney and hope in a few weeks they are over their addiction and put them back out on the streets, why because that is all they can do. There are studies that show these people, I don't care what color they are, show more than not they go back to their old friends that they hung around with and they are back to the same old drug habit, getting back to the addiction and are again committing crimes.

I couldn't disagree with you more on that issue.

Fortunately quite a few v**ers are changing their minds about the wisdom of pursuing the punishment of people whose choice in recreational drugs (marijuana) may be different than their own (alcohol).

Like with authorizing gay marriage, the dominoes are falling.

This past e******n, v**ers in Oregon and Alaska approved the legalization of recreational weed. They joined Colorado and Washington State.

Next up? The big enchilada---California.

Elton John is a wonderful musician. His private life is nobody's business but his own. He is not running for office. When people buy his albums and attend his concerts, it is about the music...nothing more. Doing so is not a "statement" about anything.

When buying a CD or concert ticket becomes a political statement, I will throw my v**e and dollars to the Dixie Chicks and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and of course---Neil Young.

Don't like the way of law enforcement in the U.S.? Write Attorney General Lynch, after she is sworn in, with your complaints.
