Your comment: I joined the Navy in 1986 and I agree, there was r****m...but it didn't seem to impact our mission, promotions. I never saw a fight break out due to r****m, it was more about people just being s**k of one another. It was always a boatswain's mate or torpedoman.

My response: "I joined the Navy in 1955 and went on active duty in 1959 as a “lifer”. I saw plenty of fights due to r****m especially at ships parties with booze as a fuel. In my days it was usually the E-3s and E-4s that would fight. Why do you think the Navy instituted a course of “Racial Training Awareness” in the mid 70’s that was mandatory for all hands including officers. But you were not there then."

Your comment: I live about 30 miles from Detroit. The one thing that my dad always told me, was trouble always finds trouble. In the twenty years that I have spent in the Detroit area, the violence is more of a perception. Violence among criminals, regardless of your location is the most common crime in Detroit. Yes, innocent people are robbed and threatened every day, I got it. I repeat: most of the crime is committed between criminals.

My response: "My father always told me that nothing really good happens after midnight – as a teenager I had to be home by 2300 on the weekends. I was not permitted to go out on school nights. Violence is a perception in Detroit? I wonder why much of Detr**t looks like a war zone from photos I have seen. It could not be from the Black leadership for years in Detroit could it?"

Your comment: Why do you sense that hope is waning for b****s today? I have never talked to anyone that is black in my entire life that felt that America was getting better for themselves. The hope by most minorities, after civil rights were passed, is that all boats would rise. Instead, elitists have TOLD us that America is a bad place and the things that make it bad are so blown out of proportion that no one can see the forest for the trees.

My response: "Simply because I not only sense that hope is waning but I see an increase in r**ts, burning, l**ting, k*****g policemen and more in our major cities. If things for B****s were getting better why do many of them act like barbarians burning their own neighborhoods and stores that serve the public. B****s seem to think that the more problems they create with burning and destruction of the property of others that the mostly White people will succumb to their violence and give in to their demands for more give-a-way programs to virtually sit on their rear ends and take hand-outs from Uncle Sammy. That all boats would rise from a Liberal Legislation – the Civil Rights Act is a dream. Boats don’t rise from legislation. Economic boats and living conditions rise by hard work, years of effort, sweat and building the community not burning it down and l**ting and building more welfare recipients with fatherless children – yes there is strength in numbers but uneducated numbers with no father's guidance is not the way to get ahead – that is the way to perpetuate the squalor in which you are imprisoned. If B****s want to see the forest for the trees then try to look beyond their limited horizons that don’t go much beyond their mail boxes. My response: "T***sfer of wealth to the world through bad debt – I don’t understand that one. It is America living on credit for years that is contributing to the destruction of America re: the obscene national debt of $20 trillion – the biggest segment added by our beloved Obama. All the BS programs that buy v**es that seem to grow and grow, foreign aid to countries that h**e us and more. It started with WW II and a debt that indeed won the war – it was necessary. The problem is that America got addicted to living big on debt and politicians could not agree to live within our means. They had to give more and more freebies to buy v**es to be reelected. We are spending ourselves into oblivion – it cannot keep on without serious consequences – the failing of America and being overtaken by some foreign power i.e. the beloved Islamics. My response: "What makes you think that I feel that I am an authority on B****s?
I never said that or implied that I was. I am a very senior citizen with a lot of experience in life. A military career followed by a low paying career in the civilian jungle. I have seen and observed probably a little more than you have. I have lived next door to a Black family for more than ten years. The woman is a hard working person; the man has had about fifteen different jobs in that time. The woman is the only reason the family is solvent. I think this family may be representative of Black society at least where I live. I worked in the real estate industry for a number of years. I had a Black client tell me that if it was left to the Black men of the Black segment of society for the betterment of the race, they would be in sad shape. She went on to say that it is Black women that carry the race. Many Black men don’t show responsibility for their families and disappear for long periods of time. From what I have observed in life, I think she spoke the t***h."

My response: "I have not had many conversations with any twenty year olds Black or White. Most all walk around with their heads slumped down looking at those “stupid” hand held devices that I call “Clutch-its” – this seems to be their lives and their God. My response: "It’s good that you talk to old folks. I am one of them “old folks” I am friendly and perhaps a bit judgmental. I think I have been around a bit more than you in the real world. I am not a kum-ba-ya person that you seem to be. The world is not about hand holding and promoting self-esteem – that is one of the basic problems in our military today. I am inspirational and was such in my Navy career. I helped many a Navy enlisted man climb the ladder of success. Those who wanted to be the bad apples, I also ushered them out of the Navy pronto. I was not the basic “Black Shoe” surface officer – I am a retired Navy aircraft carrier pilot who spent a lot of years at sea including having command of a surface ship and more. The Navy has big time problems these days which is not the subject of my post. Believe me I don’t warm the bench. And no, I don’t want to come to Michigan. You guys have plenty of problems but President Trump is doing his best to make your state great again along with America.

I think you should face reality yourself. The Black Race in America seems to be indeed stuck in a cycle of dependency and self-pity. Only B****s and Black leaders can save them from a vortex of further despondency."

There should be a lot of happy people indeed but most don't have the ability to think -- they have been dumbed down by our public school system. They think only of themselves and want to know what their country can do for them. God help this country when "they" are in charge! I firmly believe that Donald Trump is the last chance for America. But it seems that the dumb Republicans cannot take a lesson from the Democrats. They had rather fight among themselves rather to lock step and v**e for a sound Republican agenda. The Democrats cannot think for themselves but they can surely lock step and v**e for their liberal agenda.

Your observation has a high probability of coming true -- America will never be the same again. Starting with LBJ the downhill fall started -- with eight years of Obama we have reached a new low and probably will never recover completely -- the horse is too far out of the barn and down the road. What a crying shame! But I have not given up hope and will fight the Liberals to the end!!!

My hat is off to our men and women in our military services -- God bless them. Several big problems today. Nixon should have never ended the draft. All or most all young people should serve their country in some form or another -- hopefully the military. The All Volunteer Force (AVF) sounded good when it was implemented but in my opinion it is failing big time today. Too many citizens and too many members of Congress have never been in the military. Obama made the our military a social experiment -- one Big Bad deal. It seems that we are more about education and self esteem in our military today than we are in readiness to fight a war. E.g. the recent collisions of Navy ships with merchant ships in the Pacific.

Women don't belong aboard combatant ships nor in foxholes or in the cockpits of combat aircraft. Nor do we need open homosexuals and t*********rs in the military -- They are all gigantic detractors from combat readiness. If the people who ordered all the social changes in our military had to implement them and make them work -- there would be far fewer social changes. Men and women placed together in close quarters results in sexual favors -- it's just nature taking its course. I would h**e to be a Commanding Officer of a Navy Ship or a combat Infantry Unit these days -- the detractors are just too great and the probability is too great for failure.

College is not for everyone. My God, the working blue collar fields are crying for solid professional people and pay good money -- probably better than the average college grad can pull down. Just like our military, college should not be a "social experiment". We need to get back to teaching basic subjects only and get as far away as possible from politics, sexual orientation and the like in the classroom. All the BS going on in American colleges today is contributing Big Time to the destruction of America. We need more hard working patriots not a bunch eggheads with a very expensive "paper" degree.

Hey Oldsailor! I am one of your breed also. I have been retired longer than I was in. If I was back on active duty they would have me in the brig in about six weeks. I was raised in Tennessee in the 1940’s and 50’s amid a certain amount of racial prejudice. I entered the US Navy after college and spent a total of 31 years in service to America. When I left the active Navy in 1986 as a senior officer, I left the finest Navy I had ever experienced. Drug abuse was at an all-time low and Black prejudice was under control. Not completely eradicated but way below the surface of normal Navy daily routine and operations – we were a service that pulled together regardless of skin color – all ready to fight and defend America. I had many B****s that worked under my command of which I was extremely proud.

After I retired from the Navy, it only took about two years back in the civilian jungle to realize that what I had worked toward (eliminating racial prejudice) while a responsible officer in the Navy was to little avail in civilian life. I commenced experiencing all kinds of Black prejudice again and learned frequently of Black crime, Black on White prejudice, White hatred of B****s and much more. Black crime, murder, Black fatherless children, burning buildings, r**ts etc. have only become worse since I left the Navy and now it seems that all the above are at epidemic proportions in addition to the k*****g of many police officers. I offer examples of Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Ferguson and other US cities.

For years I held Bill Cosby out as a leader for young B****s in America as well as some NFL and NBA stars – Cosby gave me hope. Bill Cosby seems to have been a f**e and a phony and has let thousands of Black youths down as a role model. The Black NBA star Charles Barkley currently tries to provide leadership and advice to America – he is promptly rebuked as B****s seem to have turned on him calling him a “W***e S*********t”. WTH is going on?? Are these people stupid??

I have concluded that hope is waning for Black America as a productive segment of our population – but hopefully for many individuals there is a real hope. Some seem to have to separated themselves from main stream Black America and work hard to break out of the social prison in which they find themselves. After years and years of spending billions and billions of dollars to prime the pumps of B****s and give them wide open avenues to rise up and make something of themselves -- I think the Internet post above typifies the unmitigated despair of their probable destruction. Black America seems to have little motivation; they have few leaders with motivation and inspiration to be positive role models. Black h**e and destruction as well as White prejudice must be contained and brought under control or these negative influences will surely promote the destruction of America. We are living in troubled times.

What a sad state of affairs. It is an awful commentary for a Black NBA star to be rebuked by B****s for trying to provide a positive influence and be a role model for young B***k A******ns! Joseph Watson the author of the Inforwars article at the link above asks a very germane question… “Is it any wonder that the black community continues to be stuck in a cycle of dependence and self-pity”?

I use the following phrase frequently; however, it is refuted not to be found in the Bible but it sure makes sense to me...."God helps those who help themselves". The Black people of America need peaceful inspirational leadership. Where are such men and women?
