With all fifty states offering petitions to the central government to leave the Union, the legality of secession is now front page news in the United States. Can a state legally secede from the Union? Many, including Supreme Court justices Antonin Scalia, and Supreme Court Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase suggest no……….but…….there’s more.

One main reason Jefferson Davis was never brought to trial was because the Government feared losing. They felt the right of secession would have been upheld making the U S the aggressor in the war that followed.
Now we are led by a president sworn to uphold the Constitution who disregards it. That alone is grounds for secession.

A Russian fleet in the Black Sea might as well be afloat in a giant bathtub....in case of war there's no way out.
On the other hand, we, as the so called leader of the "free world", have to appear strong without antagonizing the "Bear."
It's a deliberately weak response. A stronger response would be to signup Ukraine to NATO overnight. Then we could place those "defensive missiles" in Poland and even threaten to place them elsewhere in Eastern Europe.
The real worry is how China will react. Encouraged by our weak response to Russia, will they move to grab disputed islands sitting in resource rich waters? Or are we hoping they will so we can annihilate them...before they annihilate us sometime later in this century?

It is, and your suggestion is a wonderful one, because out next to one of our barns in a pasture (protected of course) is a tombstone of a Confederate soldier, and back in the woods behind the barn is the rock foundation of s***e quarters. Of course, I'll probably have to save "looking" until fall. Spring has arrived, I have begun "some" planting for my organic market, have chatted with the Amish community to see what "holes" in my gardening "plan" they would be willing to fill. I have already begun frantically watering plants that need to be set out, but the soil still soggy from both winter snow and spring rain, so the majority of the ground can't be utilized just quite yet. Perhaps, today, I will price one of those metal detectors.

If you find a s***e tag in decent condition....$6,000
I metal detected with a little grandmother who once found a double sided s***e tag....$12,000 to $21,000.
Try the Fisher F 75 and watch it in use by relic h****rs on youtube.
Good luck

To stay, to go...I have struggled mightily with that thought of late, feeling out of kilter, out of sorts, needing to reclaim the balance in this thing we call "life" that I seemed to have misplaced somewhere along the way. One of the conclusions I have come to is that it "is" time -- time for me to take my leave.

Before I go, I just want to say "thank you" all for sharing your insights and your reflections, and for giving me a greater appreciation for the complexities of the human spirit. OPP has been "a gift" of incredible life lessons. I have learned something from each and every one of you who has taken the time to post your thoughts. Some have touched my heart with their spirit, some have made me smile, and some have made me reflect especially hard. Thanks for the ride!! I wish you all well and safe journey.

Just a shot in the dark, but if that's your property in Virginia I have a suggestion. Nothing gives me more peace of mind than metal detecting.
Plenty of time to let your mind dwell on any subject. The bonus is finding an artifact of value that pays for the equipment many times over.
Just look on places like youtube and bring up videos of people enjoying
this wonderful hobby.

BJ! Do you actually read that crap? Better yet, who can read it without becoming nauseated besides the residents of Wonderland?
You're always demanding proof when we say Obama is eroding our freedom while acting like a 3rd world tyrant. Then you don't hesitate calling such proof lies when it's brought to you on a gold platter.
Well, here's a little lady that might open even your eyes....Bon Appétit, Bo!

A little taste of tyranny

No wonder his scholastic records are closed to public scrutiny. The guy is a fraud.
There will be an avalanche of books that will be published, after he leaves office, explaining just how foolish we were to elect such a person.

This is one dumb democrat. Anyone who thinks congress is underpaid is really drinking the kool-aid of the greedy.

Congress should have a pay increase when, and only when, they actually work together and perform the tasks of making laws that help the citizens who elected them.

As long as partisan politics and obstructionism are more important than special interests, congress should never have their pay increased.

Balance the budget, raise taxes, cut spending, modify or change unworkable laws, modify or change the constitution as necessary, but do it and spend more than 1/3 of the year doing it.

Yeah, all you rightwingers, I am calling Moran a greedy, self-serving money grubber, who should either quit b***hing or quit congress

Imagine that.....BJ is being both fair and balanced!
Possible reasons:
He just discovered he owes Sam big time this year
His new deductible under ObamaCare is more than he makes annually
He was carjacked while sitting at a red light by fellow Democrats
Discovered that the White House really is lying about the annual rate of inflation based on the price Kool-Aid

I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

It can't be too serious.
No cause for alarm. BTW, the pictured ship reminds of sage advice I received the very first time I went to a race trace:
Kid, never bet on a horse with grass stains on its stomach.

I've noticed. I could almost name the month and the year when it became clear why.
I was writing a traffic citation in 1978. Seated inside my patrol car was a male I had arrested on various traffic charges. He was in his 30's and if looks and attitude could k**l I'd have fallen over dead. At that time, the citations required a work address so I asked for it.
"WORK? Is that some kind of new dance? I don't work. Stop paying me and watch your cities burn."
Cut it anyway you want but what he said was painfully true.
It was a revelation! I realized that no matter how many politicians promised welfare reform nothing could or would be done. That's because there is an implied weapon pointed at the head of the Government. Stop the freebies and pay an unthinkable price.
Now, 36 years later, the situation is much more explosive.
The difference is that the end of the dollar as the reserve currency will unleash everything from hyperinflation to massive economic woes including a sharp rise in unemployment.
I don't really want to but I have to prepare incase what that man told me all those years ago comes to pass.

I took some of my extra dollars and bought silver before the dollar completely crashed. What people need are things they can trade because in an economic crash people will be looking for things they cannot buy, and I believe trading is a good idea. Our community is talking about that as we speak and actually doing some trading.

I purchase American Silver Eagles and intend to keep stacking physical. The world is getting ready to rid itself of the petrodollar and too, the dollar's status as the reserve currency. Put simply, austerity is ahead for us.
When the above happens, I think there will be massive social unrest.
What will happen when the Government tells 10's of millions of freeloaders that the gravy train has been derailed?

The Chinese have even more leverage to play the U S as it
sees fit. Remember the "fly zone provocation" in which the Chinese demanded that all aircraft id themselves well outside their air space?
They hold trillions in U S Government obligations and can demand immediate payment at any time. That act alone would crash our economy. Those sly devils.
You're right about the MSM endorsing Obama before he was made to answer hard questions about his background. That alone swung millions of undecided v**es his way.
I hold them responsible for his winning his first term as President.
