And I remember all those things as well, now You've reminded me. Those years were a period of great unrest there. One wonders what would have happened if the assassination had been foiled and Rabin had lived. šŸ„ŗ

Thank you, too, for using AP & Reuters btw. Much appreciated
From the article:

"Israel has imposed a complete siege on Gaza, preventing the entrance of food, water and fuel ā€” a move that has created a catastrophic humanitarian situation. As the Israeli military gears up for a ground invasion and pledges to topple Hamas, the futures of Gaza and its 2.3 million Palestinians look uncertain."

This is the crux of it, IMHO. Between airstrikes, missiles and slowly starving the people in Gaza, Israel has made itself into very nearly a pariah among the civilized nations. The more people become aware of what has been happening, the more support there will be for the people living in Gaza or -conversely - the less support there will be for Israel. It went way past revenge for the 1200 a long time ago, and it became obvious early on that Bibi didn't really care whether the hostages were released or not. If they were k**led, it would be more political ammo for him with the people of Israel - half of whom were ready to toss him out before Oct.7 because of his autocratic tendencies.
. br And I remember all those things as well, now... (show quote)

Both Egypt and Israel imposed an embargo on the Palestinians. It was due to the obvious bellicose nature of Hamas and their attacks on civilians.

I didn't see Israel telling the US what to do when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The US did what they needed to do with the bombing of Japan and their surrender.

I remember watching the news reports on TV in the late 90s & early 2000's. It's exactly what was happening. Rocks from Palestinians - often just kids - with Israel either shooting them or sending an air strike to "quell the unrest"

This is what I remember during the time period which you are referencing.
1993 - 2005: PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY
For a time, promising peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders made the future of Gaza look somewhat hopeful.

Following the Oslo accords ā€” a set of agreements between Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat that laid the groundwork for a two-state solution ā€” control of Gaza was handed to the fledgling Palestinian Authority.

But the optimism was short lived. A series of Palestinian suicide attacks by Hamas militants, the 1995 assassination of Rabin by a Jewish ultranationalist opposed to his peacemaking and the e******n of Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister the following year all hindered U.S.-led peace efforts. Another peace push collapsed in late 2000 with the eruption of the second Palestinian uprising.

As the uprising fizzled in 2005, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon led a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, uprooting all of Israelā€™s troops and roughly 9,000 settlers in a move that bitterly divided Israel.

Well good, I'm happy for that. But you feel sorry for the only ones who are probably guaranteed passage direct to Heaven. God would like ALL people to turn to Him. Those people Israel has k**led will never have that chance.

You deliberately mistrue what I write. I said.
1- Conflict between Israel and the Palestinians has been ongoing for over a hundred years, and the US's meddling has not always been helpful.
A) Palestinians fought with rocks
B) Israelis, in later years especially, often responded with missiles and airstrikes.
1) Because the IDF used missiles and airstrikes against the Palestinians, so many deaths occurred that the UN charged Israel with war crimes.
2)Because Israel k**led so many Palestinians, Hamas eventually won control in Gaza, probably because the Palestinians thought they would better protect them from Israel.

2. The Oct 7 attack should
A) never have happened in the first place, but
B) it was very likely allowed to happen to:
1) allow the PM to stay in power and not go through another no confidence v**e.
2) Give Netanyahu carte blanche - he thought - to finally decimate the Palestinians and get them out if the Gaza strip once and for all.

3. - As a response to Oct 7, the Israeli response has been a failure in the world stage. It has gone WAY above and beyond where it should have. More than 30 times the number of Palestinians have been k**led compared to those k**led by Hamas in Israel on Oct. 7.
A) because it went way too far, Israel will again be charged with war crimes.
B) because it went way too far and young people here are seeing the starving and dead babies and children and women, our college campuses are becoming inflamed to the point of physical fighting.

There are answers for all of the problems, but I suspect they will never be implemented.
Well good, I'm happy for that. But you feel sorry ... (show quote)

It is evident that you were reading the Palestinian's view of past history-"throwing rocks at the Israelis".

It's not "egomaniacs" that are dangerous; it's the current occupier biden who's dangerous with his disregarding the rule of law and ignoring the rulings of the highest federal court in the country and the head of the judicial branch known as the Supreme Court of the United States.

There is little doubt that Donald J. Trump will be convicted. The jury pool all but guaranteed that. Ultimately the conviction will be overturned. What I do not know is whether the conviction will be used to keep him from assuming office when he beats Joe Biden. That period between conviction and overturning is legal wilderness. That is where Trump's running mate becomes key. That person may become the sitting President.

According to the U.S. Constitution, anyone who is at least 35 years old, a natural-born citizen of the United States and a U.S. resident for at least 14 years is eligible to be elected president. Because the Constitution does not mention criminal records, a person indicted or convicted of a felony would not be barred from serving in the role so long as he or she meets the other requirements.
