I just finished reading that book ,Blade. Also, even more in depth, I also just finished "Signature in the cell" by the same author. Both absolutely great.
Sounds like you would like the books by Rupert Sheldrake also. Although don't expect many here to even
consider these books as they are to mired in the atheistic view of the majority of materialistic scientists.

Nwtk, you raise a good question as to the question of "why". Here are my observations about that question.
Why do Ukrainians h**e Russians? The memory of millions of Ukrainians murdered, starved to death, by Stalin
is firmly registered in their minds and the life under Russian C*******m with all the pain, poverty, and suffering,
is not forgotten after only 30 years have passed since the end of its control. Looking to the West with all its wealth and freedoms led to a false euphoria that all that could be theirs if they joined the EU. I told many of them during the 2014
"Maiden" revolution that they better lose their desire to join the west because their society would be brought down to the level of decadence that you speak of in the U.S and western Europe. I could find not one person who agreed with me. As of right now, the EU is encroaching on Ukrainian society and culture and without a doubt, the words of the 60s singer Joni Mitchell, "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" will be very appropriate in Ukraine.
