Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Vandalized With Hammer

Posted May 11, 2020 Old Jarhead, by Dan Doyle

For years, a copy of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. has travelled around the country and set up in places where people who might never be able to get to D.C. could visit it and maybe get some healing and closure.

One of those traveling walls was recently given a permanent home in John’s Creek, Georgia. The John’s Creek Veterans Association has been working on the set up of the permanent memorial since last July, and was going to have a Grand Opening celebration on March 28, 2020, but the c****av***s p******c put the kibosh on that with the social distancing and stay at home requirements that were necessary to help control the spread of this deadly v***s.

The Association was shocked recently to find that vandals had keyed about half of the panels of the installation and had taken a hammer to some of the other panels. Such behavior is beyond contempt. No matter the “reason” of self-righteous bravado vandals may give for their actions, the t***h is that they are self-centered, insensitive cowards. These actions were done under cover of night. No courage there. One could imagine all kinds of righteous punishments for such actions
.
My first reaction to this is to hunt down and teach the i***ts a true lesson, from a Vietnam Era Veteran. But the story gets better.

But Mike Mizell of the Johns Creek Veterans Association is a much more centered and thoughtful individual than I am in this case. When asked about his feelings concerning the damage done to the Vietnam Memorial with its over 58,000 names of those who fell there in service to the nation, he responded, directing his comment to the perpetrator’s with, “You didn’t hurt the structure, you hurt people.”

When asked what he would like to see done to whomever did this he simply told the reporter that “he would like whoever did this to join them in cleaning the park and taking in the history it holds.”

Mike Mizell is clearly a man with some real moral character.

My respect for Mike Mizell knows no ends. I could never be as forgiving, or as calm as he appears to be here. To me, this is simply unimaginable.

It is a fact that when bad things happen to good people, the responses they give for their hurt reveals either the quality of their character or the lack thereof. Mike Mizell and the John’s Creek Veterans Association have every right to be angry about what has happened to this treasured memorial and how it effects Vietnam Veterans and their families, but Mizell’s response clearly shows that he and his fellow John’s Creek veterans are made of far superior stuff than that of those who did this to that honored memorial.

It is the action of our better angels not just to punish those who do wrong, but to invite and to challenge the wrong doer to turn away from their selfish actions, to pay the necessary recompense for their actions, and to learn how to grow into their better selves. Mizell’s comment is rooted in that kind of “better angels” kind of thinking.

The Veterans Site sends its support and its thanks to the John’s Creek Veterans Association and the Vietnam veterans of Georgia. We hope that the repairs to the John’s Creek Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall can be done quickly and that you will be able to have your Grand Opening sometime soon. We say, “Welcome Home” to all the Vietnam Veterans and promise to never forget all our brothers and sisters who gave their last full measure in Vietnam and whose names are inscribed on that wall.

Yes, I am livid at the wastes of oxygen that did this desecration.

Mr. Mizall sure sounds like a level headed and admirable character. There are folks who got turned off by the Viet Nam War. I recall one history teacher who bragged that she would not teach about war in her American History class! Like sort of you get to 1774 and ignore the Boston Tea Party and the next lesson is 1787 and Madison is writing the Constitution! But these folks attack the wrong people. They take it out on the guys (and gals) who fought that war at the orders of people like McNamara, who before he died, admitted that it was all a mistake. This must have been a great consolation to the families and friends of the 58,000 kids who never got back from Viet Nam.

There was a good reason that the founders gave congress, the representatives of the people, the sole authority to declare war. During war, people's rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are put in jeopardy. But if congress has decided that the danger to the Nation is serious enough to declare war, those individual rights are suspended so that the Nation can survive. A lot of politicians have forgotten that little detail over the past 75 years.

Yep, - she really said it on Thursday in a meeting in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee... And the quote below from the LA Times is priceless. Sometimes even the LA. Times gets it right.

Kurt Nimmo: "Senator Feinstein insults all U.S. Veterans as she flails about in a vain attempt to save her anti-firearms bill."

Quote of the Day from the Los Angeles Times:

"Frankly, I don't know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine, even comes close. When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we're Number One. There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'. The four of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab. You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words."

Columnist Burt Prelutsky,

Los Angeles Times

Be sure to forward this to all of the "mentally ill" vets you know. Especially the ones with guns??

I am too! I notice this attitude about firearms in a lot of folks who have lived in urban areas. They watch TV too much. Most TV shows portray gun owners as violent criminals or police only. Here in Vermont, we have few gun laws except some common sense ones, lots of gun owners, and about the lowest crime rate in the US. I wonder what Diane is trying to achieve?

Currently, I think there is no federal law that requires states consistency or uniformity in v****g protocol.

The only way to fix this and make it consistent is for Congress to legislate a uniform v****g guidelines for all states.

Therefore, California and New York could impose a v****g policy for their registered v**ers. This will result to a series of litigation, based on v**er’s fraud, in counting, and sometimes fraud in various ways.

At present most common guidelines are v****g by in person, or v****g by absentee b****t for those eligible, and for the military personnel out of states.

At present more states are crumbling to v**e by mail in b****t. Therefor California and or New York can require protocol of v****g by mail in b****t. This method may result to series of litigation especially at present when the socialist democrats are desperate to take over the US presidency. For mail in v****g the b****t is mailed in automatically to every eligible v**er.

Following are disadvantages of v****g by mail.
There are disadvantages and advantages to v****g by mail in b****t and we must have to weigh in which is the most ethical, honest, and compliant.

Disadvantages of mail in v****g.
1.More cost involved. The creation of machines to count this new b****t system, more postage and printing costs are involved.
2. Independence: The v**er may be coerced by someone at home and v**e for the party or candidate not originally chosen by the v**er.
3. Slower result since the b****t may sometimes arrive at a later date.
4. Increase in v**er’s error. Compared to in person v****g when the V****g Clerk could help correct the problems.
5. Desperate effects on some population. Some native Americans may not have permanent mailing address.
6. The in person v****g tradition is broken and when a new procedure is made. Inconsistency create panic for some.
7. Increase in litigation the most significant counting disputes in the past was counting of absentee or mail in b****ts.
8. Some democrat or liberal states could c***t by not counting v**es for states that lean more of republican v**ers.
Advantages;
1. Convenience.
2. V**er turnout may increase.
3. Cost, no need to hire poll clerk in the v****g booth.

I am afraid we will have a very long and litigious p**********l e******n this Nov. 2020, when the socialist-c*******t democrats are desperate to take over the White House. They'll do all fraudulent means to win. Please be vigilant my fellow Americans. Make sure that the number of b****ts counted must not be more than the registered v**ers.

May God help us!

Here in Vermont we have had mail in v****g for years and we've never had any problems. We may have one advantage in that the unit of government is the township rather than the county. The town clerk probably knows everybody in the town, something that would be impossible fora county clerk.

Where did you ever get the idea that Democrats are socialists and c*******ts? You must have a different definition of those words than we used in USAF Command and Staff College back when Dick Nixon was president.

States and local authorities simply have no idea what happened to these b****ts since they were mailed – and the figure of 28 million missing b****ts is likely even higher because some areas in the country, notably Chicago, did not respond to the federal agency’s survey questions. I still don't think you guys use the same definition of "c*******m" as we got in Command and Staff College back in Nixon's time. This current system is more akin to f*****m than c*******m. The N**is gave f*****m a bad name because folks don't recognize it unless it's k*****g large numbers of some minority group. Basically, it is a system in which heavy industry and big banks unite with government to enrich themselves at everybody else's expense. Most c*******t systems in Europe and Asia over the last hundred years, quickly morphed into systems that were hard to tell from f*****t systems. Tru c*******m is sort of like socialism on steroids, and nothing on steroids ever turns out well. Guys like Stalin or Mao, were going to take over industry "for the people" but it rarely turned out that way. It might work in a small society like an Indian village, but in a large modern country the power attracts folks who are corruptible. Anyway, stay safeand healthy.

It seems to me that it is a shame that so many people approve of a foreign policy based on a prophesy in a book, written 4000 years ago by Bronze Age barbarians, and in so doing, they jeopardize a Constitution written by some of the finest minds of the Age of Reason. A mask may not keep you from getting the v***s. V***ses are REALLY tiny. When I was in school they used to call 'em "filterable v***ses" because they went through filters that stopped bacteria. And if v***ses can get through those kinds of filters, they obviously can go through a mask like a hot knife through butter. BUT!!! A mask may keep you from spreading it to other people.

It may be that there are other C****a V***ses that cause mild diseases, but are similar enough to this C19 that the antibodies that our bodies make against them may also help fight off C19. If so, then that may explain why some people carry the v***s but do not get very sick. But those folks will sneeze or cough and spread the v***s to people who will get sick. So use the mask to keep your sneezes to yourself and be considerate of other folks. The quicker we get this v***s under control, the quicker we can safely open the economy. South Korea and China both opened too soon, both had sudden surges in infections, and both have had to close down some hot spots again.

Somehow we have had mail in v****g for years, without any of these problems that folks fear. Service members have done that since WWII. Retired Vermonters mail in their v**es from Florida. Elderly folks who can't get to Town Meeting or to the poles in November have been getting mail in b****ts for decades.

There are some problems with mail in v****g. When I ran for the Vermont House in 2014, toward the end I ran into folks who had mailed in their b****ts before I could talk to them. A comment from one lady was "Oh! Pro gun AND pro choice? I'd have v**ed for you if I'd known that!" The "pro gun" comment was in reference to articles 16 and 59 of our Constitution, which the current Democratic majority in our legislature continually tries to violate, and the "pro choice" comment was in reference to Amendment 1 of the Federal Constitution, which many Republican politicians seem to h**e.

Part of the trouble is the history text books. Some states have committees that approve text books, and big ones like California and Texas have so many schools that they have a huge effect on what gets published. Then conservative politicians get anything controversial taken out, and liberal politicians get anything that offends them taken out and there ain't much left to interest kids. I taught science for 33 years and I rarely met kids who liked history. They usually said it was boring and most of them knew very little. (the worst case being a kid who couldn't figure out when the War of 1812 took place!) I volunteer as a guide at the Vermont National Guard Museum in Colchester, and I am often asked to do WWII presentations for visiting high school groups. The lack of interest is astounding. I get some interest from boys with my rack holding two rare Arisaka rifles, that Mauser that Dad sent me from the Bulge, and my CMP M1, And I always show 'em our display case with the home front stuff and occasionally get a chuckle from kids when i tell 'em that if they know what's in there, they will know more about how to win a war without going bankrupt than anybody in Washington DC. These non ending wars have gotten a lot of people s**k of wars, and they seem to think that knowing nothing about war or military matters is a way to end wars! Trump promised no more stupid wars and that was a good goal, but he hasn't been able to get us out of some of them yet.

There is, in that quaint old 18th century document called the Constitution of the United States, a section that tells how, if Congress feels that a president has violated his oath of office or done other crimes and misdemeanors, the House of Representatives can investigate the situation and if they find evidence of these crimes and misdemeanors they can v**e to Impeach the president. Once they do that, the Senate must try the case, acting like a huge jury. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court must act as judge, and the House sends some of their members to act as prosecuting attorneys. The Senate can decide that the charges are serious enough to convict or not as they see fit. Every President is elected by the members of the E*******l College, just as Trump was. Over the years, several presidents have been impeached, including Andrew Johnson, and Bill Clinton. Richard Nixon was threatened with Impeachment, but when told by Senators of his own party that he would be convicted in the Senate, he resigned. So what makes you think that this is some sort of plot to unseat our heaven sent savior, Donald Trump? Just maybe enough members of the House felt that he had done some crimes or misdemeanors. Get used to it, kid. You are living in the good old USA. That's the way we operate.
