Congress has typically approved Supreme Court nominees during p**********l e******n years, contrary to what Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are claiming in the wake of the vacancy left by Justice Antonin Scalia Saturday.

"There's a long tradition that you don't do this in an e******n year," Cruz said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "We have a long tradition that a lame duck president doesn't get to jam a nominee at the end."

The problem for Cruz and other Republicans is that in nearly every case when the Senate did confirm an e******n-year nomination, its majority shared the same political party as the president — a far cry from the current, contentious landscape.

Both Cruz and Rubio have taken the side of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who said the Senate won't consider any nominee from President Obama to replace Scalia, who passed away from a heart attack over the weekend.

Instead, Senate Republicans plan to wait until next year, when they might have a member of their own party in the White House, to replace Scalia in order to ensure they don't lose a conservative justice from the court.

Cruz and Rubio, both p**********l candidates, defend McConnell's decision by insisting there's a long history of avoiding Supreme Court confirmations during an e******n year.

NBC's "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd pressed both of them Sunday morning to say why they don't think the Senate should at least go through the process of considering an Obama nominee this year, even if the body ultimately rejects him or her.

"Does the Senate have an obligation to at least go through the process and have a v**e?" Todd asked Cruz.

"Not remotely," Cruz responded, saying it's been 80 years since Congress filled a Supreme Court vacancy in an e******n year.

"The Senate's duty is to advise and consent," Cruz said. "We're advising right now that a lame duck president is not going to be able to tip the balance of the Supreme Court."

Rubio said the Senate has an "obligation" to fill a court vacancy — just not now. "I just don't think it's wise for a president nearing the last few months of his administration to put someone on the court who might be here for 30 years," he said. There are about 11 months left in Obama's presidency.

In just seven cases since 1900 has a president made a nomination to fill a vacant Supreme Court seat during an e******n year, according to a post by SCOTUS blog. And all but once, the Congress approved the nominee before the e******n took place.

The only time the Senate didn't confirm a nominee in an e******n year was when Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Republican, nominated William Brennan to the bench just weeks before the November e******n. The Democrat-led Senate had already adjourned by the point, but it confirmed Brennan the following year.

The key difference from now is that in nearly all those instances, the president's own party controlled the Senate.

Only once has a Democrat-led Senate approved a nominee from a GOP president in an e******n year. That occurred in 1988, when the Senate confirmed President Ronald Reagan's pick of Anthony Kennedy.

And the opposite scenario — a Republican-led Senate approving a nominee from a Democratic president — has never occurred, at least since the turn of the century.

Yet that's the situation Senate Republicans currently find themselves in, faced with an empty seat on the court vacated by one of the court's most reliably conservative justices. As Obama isn't likely to nominate anyone they would approve of. They're holding out hope they can win the White House and replace Scalia with someone who will at least keep the court divided between liberals and conservatives instead of swinging it leftward.

Rubio dismissed the example of the Senate confirming Kennedy, noting Reagan nominated the judge in November 1987.

"It doesn't really matter what Reagan did back in '87," Rubio said. "[Obama] now has basically 10 and a half months left in office. With an e******n coming up, there will be a debate about what the Supreme Court should look like."

"Here's the bottom line," he added. "I don't trust Barack Obama in nominating Supreme Court justices."

Democrats on Sunday slammed the Senate Republicans for their tactics.

"This vacancy may not be convenient for a Republican majority that has already abandoned any intention of governing this e******n year, but they have a responsibility to our nation," said Lauren Passalacqua, a spokeswoman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. "If Mitch McConnell and the GOP caucus follow through on their alarming plan to obstruct this constitutional process, then v**ers will ensure they will not keep the majority for long."

Everything they enjoy, use and benefit from today, they owe in great part to the discovery, inventiveness, and entrepreneurship of the white men they h**e so much. That is not to say that people of other cultures and nationalities have not contributed greatly to this country with their hard work. But not many invented things that make our lives so much better and easier today. Look how many white European men have received science Nobel prizes for their inventions and discoveries.

America that was is the exceptional America that so generously gave aid and knowledge to other countries in need, that built a successful nation that knew and was proud of its history, had a moral compass, was honorable, had stable families, and kept God at its core. America that was achieved unsurpassed greatness and, in that process, improved the lives of billions around the world, freeing an entire continent from the oppressing German National Socialists (N**is).

America that is now is ashamed of its history, of what made it great, and people are afraid to express their feelings of p***e because it is shameful and derisive to be patriotic; people are demoralized, have lost their decency, more than half of the country is on welfare or unemployed.

People who are in school know very little and are unabashedly unashamed that they know so very little. When asked simple questions that most foreigners can answer with ease, young Americans walk away with p***e and a smile when they show their stupidity and ignorance, unable to recognize national landmarks, their own geography, famous Americans, their own history, and many rudiments of basic elementary education. But they can immediately recognize and worship pop-culture trash icons and recite sports statistics and worthless trivia.

Noah Webster was right when he said,

“Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country; he should lisp the praise of liberty, and of those illustrious heroes and statesmen, who have wrought a revolution in her favor.”

Unfortunately, most Americans with a college diploma would definitely be unable to pass a high school literacy exam from the turn of the 20th century, that is how dumbed down the American education has become by teaching to a test and lazily using calculators instead of their brains.

America that will be is yet to be decided. The e*****rate has two choices, go with one of the two c*******t candidates on the left, turning completely left to socialism and eventually c*******m or maintain the mixed economy of the middle with government socialism and crony capitalism.

It appears that the tendency goes toward socialism. Decades of brainwashing in schools, Hollywood, and the main stream media are finally paying off, politicians have enough domestic low information v**ers and imported i*****l a***ns to bring about their sought after utopian paradise in the vein of Venezuela and Cuba.

No matter what happens to the country, politicians will be part of the ruling elite while the useful i***ts, including the media, academia, and all the fringe lunatics on the left will become part of the equally poor and miserable proletariat with implausible rights and demands that cannot be fulfilled in the real world of work. And they will have to labor when other people’s money will be gone and the middle class will become part of the dustbin of history, a blip on the radar of a formerly successful and abundant life which they squandered away by allowing their children to be brainwashed in schools.

Schools are not the only ones responsible for the creation of this entitlement mentality, an incurable societal cancer. The entitlement mentality started with the divorced single mom with children taken care of by the government largesse, a government that purposefully became daddy.

The entitlement mentality was exacerbated by two-income parents, who could not spend enough time with their children. To make up for this obvious breakdown and assuage guilt, parents started buying their children “stuff” which they did not need, thus creating an entitled future society of narcissistic people who felt that everything was owed to them free on a golden platter just because they existed.

And old c*******t politicians like Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton told them that it was their “right” to have health care, free education, free housing, free prenatal and postnatal care, free vacations, all at the expense of society, no personal responsibility whatsoever. It worked really well in the Fabian socialist nations of Western Europe - they are all bankrupt, financially and morally, fighting off too late or not at all the Islamist invasion and the failed multicultural “diversity” with their ill-placed tolerance.

America that will be, with a socialist and c*******t utopian agenda, will be muddled by disaster after disaster exacerbated by the already doubled national debt, now sitting at $19 trillion and rising, over $120 trillion with unfunded liabilities such as the Social Security Ponzi scheme, Medicare and Medicaid. This unpayable national debt cannot possibly be reversed no matter who the president is.

How do you undo the open borders policy and all the i*****l a***ns that have been flooding the U.S.? We’ve been told for ten years that we have 11 million “undocumented Americans,” who, by simple mathematics should have grown to 30 million by now, a sizable non-information Democrat illegal v****g bloc, deceptively named “undocumented workers” to cover the fact that they are foreign nationals who broke our laws to come in, but are now demanding and receiving more rights than Americans have, in exchange for their illegal v**e across the country.

They are changing the demographic face of America on a large scale plan and forcing bilingualism on us. They are already burdening the welfare system, schools, child care, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, and the earned income tax credit system. How do you stop Muslim invasion? In the name of tolerance and their bogus contribution to America, they are allowed to change our laws, to introduce Sharia Law, proselytizing for Islam in schools across the country with the help of Common Core, in hopes of eventually taking over by sheer fertility, 8.1 children per family.

How do you undo Obamacare, the deliberate destruction of one of the world’s best healthcare systems in order to install government provided insurance? The socialist healthcare system for veterans did not work very well and thousands have died and are still dying daily, waiting to be seen and to be treated properly.

How do you overcome the weakened military? How do you overcome the Islamization of America? How do you overcome the destruction wrought in education by Common Core Sub-standards and by the State Department of Education? How do you overcome the destruction of the f****l f**l industry at the expense of building the Green, pie-in-the-sky, renewable energy of solar and wind? How do you overcome the debauchery and the loss of morality? How do you overcome the loss of faith? How do you overcome the infiltration at all levels of government of anti-Americans, c*******ts, and Islamists who do not have America’s best interest at heart?

How are you going to reverse decades of indoctrination of our children into good socialists? How do you reverse the c*****e c****e industry? How do you overcome all the race-baiting, bigotry, h**e speech, and white privilege rhetoric coming from the militant and violent left who has plenty of money to stage r**ts and destructive demonstration by young people addled by drug use? JMHO: As the header says, this is my last post on OPP. Being a staunch conservative, it was enough to debate/argue with the liberals on OPP, but the last straw was; 1) the Trump supporters, who I found worse in many cases than the liberals with their immediate name calling and nasty comments, and 2) the absolute crazy conspiracy theorist nut bags, especially the educated i***t eagleye13, and the Muslim sympathizer and Jew h**er payne1000, these two have never seen a you tube video, or any posted conspiracy theory that they didn't just eat up and swear was fact (case in point, their absolute insane 9/11 conspiracy lunacy)...the most amazing ignorance and gullibility I have ever witnessed. I will miss some posters, like Tasine, Loki, LAPhil, JFlorio, no propaganda please, and others.

Predictions: with the death of Justice Scalia, and the Senate battle over a successor (successfully blocked, or otherwise), coupled with the nomination of Donald Trump as the Republican Party nominee, will in my opinion, pretty much destroy the Republican Party, and we will have a one party system. Trump will not beat the Democrat nominee, and I don't care who it is, and this country will start shifting more to the left, and into eventual socialism...maybe even as far as c*******m (especially if Bernie is elected). Even if Trump is elected, he will be not much different than a Democrat president because he is a liberal, except his presidency will be more chaotic. With either, the Constitution will be gutted, including the second amendment (yes, Trump believes in gun control...look it up). I still stick to my prediction that Biden will jump into the race when the Hillary email indictment/report comes down, and he will very likely win. So, America prepare for socialism, and the eventual two class system...the rich, and the poor. Prepare, it's coming...successfully block Scalia's successor, and nominate any GOP candidate other than Donald Trump, and maybe, just maybe, we might have a fighting chance, or at least prolong it for a few more years. Just my opinion, and with that, and $5, one can get one a latte mocha at Starbuck's.

Even with a Republican Congress, Hillary would likely get her Supreme Court nominations vetted and approved.
With Hillary as President you can kiss free speech, freedom of religion, and the Second Amendment rights goodbye.

Experts Warn Similar Crackdowns On Free Speech Coming To America

The unprecedented influx of Muslim migrants into Europe is fueling civil unrest as well as government repression directed against the native population, say experts who warn similar crackdowns on criticism of Islam could be coming to America.

In Calais, France, thousands of migrants have settled in a ramshackle settlement outside the city. Rather than removing them, the French government recently banned a demonstration by the Pegida group, which has called for resistance to Islam’s growing control over European life and the expulsion of the migrants.In recent days, police in the Netherlands questioned and threatened to charge citizens who made Internet posts protesting government plans to resettle migrants in their communities.

A similar march planned for Birmingham, England, has been condemned by both Labour and Conservative members of Parliament for the city.

Facebook has also announced a Europe-wide campaign to eliminate the “dissemination of xenophobia, h**e speech or calls of violence,” including donating more than $1 million to “anti-h**e” organizations.

The German government of Angela Merkel is working with Facebook and other social media organizations to censor speech that criticizes migrants, especially after the mass sexual assaults by Muslims in Cologne and other German and European cities.

Pamela Geller, a WND columnist and a world-famous critic of radical Islam, called the decision by European governments to resort to censorship a desperate move of self-preservation.

“They have enabled the destruction of their own countries by means of their immigration policies,” she charged. “If they allow criticism of Islam, it will show the disastrous failure of their commitment to m**************m. They also hope that by appeasing Muslim demands, they will obviate the need for jihad, and there will be peace. But appeasement always fails.”

Geller argued European leaders really believe they can keep their own people in the dark about what is happening.

“They are supremely arrogant, and have contempt for their own people,” she charged. “They consider themselves to be an elite intelligentsia with insight greater than that of ordinary people.”

But Europeans who feel excluded from the political process are already taking to the streets.

Pegida is planning demonstrations in nations across Europe on Feb. 6. Some citizens are also forming vigilante groups to protect against crimes by migrants. A group called the “Soldiers of Odin” has begun organizing patrols in Finland. Groups are also being organized in Germany.

Geller, author of “Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance,” warns if citizens are not allowed to speak their minds, the consequences will be disastrous.

“There will be civil war in Europe,” she said.

She also predicts these kinds of Orwellian tactics and bans on speech will soon be coming to America.

“Yes, it will certainly come here, as our leaders are no different,” she said. “The First Amendment is only as strong as its defenders.”

Legendary conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly, a WND columnist and the author of several books including “Who K**led the American Family?” agreed with Geller’s judgment that the left would eventually find a way around the First Amendment.

“I think we’ve seen some signs of them trying to prevent anything that has any Christian religious tone to it,” she told WND. “They want to make sure you don’t say it. They also want to make sure you don’t say anything anti-Muslim.”

But Schlafly said Americans are right to be concerned about the possible consequences of Muslim immigration.

“I think we need to tell the t***h about the Muslims,” she said. “We don’t want to say any bad things, but we want to tell the t***h. They want to take us over. We invite people to come to this country who want to be American. I remember years ago when people were coming in, parents would tell their children, ‘Now we’re in America and we’re going to be American.’ And that’s not the attitude of the immigrants coming in today.”

Cities and towns throughout America have been targeted by the Obama administration for “refugee resettlement,” especially from Muslim nations.

Geller believes the left supports Islam even though Muslims do not share progressive beliefs when it comes to feminism or rights for homosexuals because they have a common enemy.

“Both Islam and the left h**e America,” she said bluntly.

Carl Gallups, a pastor, talk-show host and author of several books including “Be Thou Prepared: Equipping the Church for Persecution and Times of Trouble,” says Christians in both Europe and America will be targeted as the power of Islam increases.

“This process of Islamization is something that’s been in the works for decades, but now it is coming to the point of fruition,” he told WND. “A nation and a civilization reaps what it sows.”

Gallups also believes censorship of anti-Islamic speech is already on its way in America.

“The activism and outrageousness that usually accompany what we are seeing in Europe have not quite reached the same stage of development here – but it’s coming,” he warned. “That is unless we turn back to God – starting in our pulpits, pews, and halls of government. This diabolic plan has been a long time in the works in America, but how can we rationally deny its presence already among us?”

Gallups alleged: “The Muslim Brotherhood has already made deep inroads into the White House and various aspects of the government. This fact has been accurately disclosed many times – to no avail.”

The pastor urged Americans to jealously guard their freedom of speech in order to avoid sharing Europe’s fate.

“The restriction and restructuring of ‘acceptable speech’ as a means of ‘controlling’ a society was a lesson learned under the N**is,” Gallups said. “The nefarious ploy we call under the name of ‘political correctness’ is an evil envisioned by our Founding Fathers – and one which they had to tolerate under the British crown. This is the very reason the First Amendment right to freedom of speech was enshrined in the Constitution.

“But if Americans continue to give in to political correctness and allow themselves to be pushed around by the thought and speech police, than our very freedom will be gone.”

The first is from Salon, which is known mainly for employing white people to write about r****m. This time it’s employing a non-comedian to tell comedians how we should conduct ourselves comedically. Worried that people might nod off while reading her piece, she made her points in the title and subtitle:

“Jerry Seinfeld is a wimp: What his anti-P.C. tirades are really about

If the latest debate over political correctness proves anything, it's that *comedians* need to grow a thicker skin.”

Seinfeld’s comments seemed pretty clear but Snowflake Number One here assures us she’s got some insight. First she’ll tell us what Jerry was really thinking, then she’ll tell her readers what they should be thinking. That, by the way, is boilerplate PC Thought Police procedure.

Snowflake One wastes precious little time earning her Salon cred by complaining about white people:

“If it’s not enough of a red f**g when a trio of wealthy straight white men — Seinfeld and Meyers, along with New Yorker editor David Remnick — discuss the looming threat of political correctness,”

In classic PC social justice warrior fashion, she’s dismissive of Seinfeld’s words because he’s white.

It should be pointed out that Snowflake One is so white Chris Matthews would be the ethnic one were the two of them to ever have lunch.

Near the end of her piece, she blah blahs about the Internet having forced comedians to grow thicker skin and be braver with material, which was easily the dumbest thing in a post that felt like it was written on a wall in crayon.

Being on stage is, and always has been, the thing that makes comedians get thicker skin. Trying a joke out in front of twelve drunks and having it fall flat leaves one feeling more empty than Sylvia Plath’s oven. Tweaking that joke and trying it again for several shows until you get it right is where the toughening happens.

Drinking beer in my underwear and throwing around jokes on Twitter while my neighbors complain about the curtains always being open is the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Wait, not being the one giving birth to a child while watching childbirth is the easiest thing I’ve ever done (well, I got a little parched from saying “push” all the time), but the other thing is a close second. I can ignore the responses or not. Doing one-nighters during the Ohio winter it ain’t.
