The representative for the American Cancer Society in my State, had been lobbying our Legislature to add an additional $1.50 tax onto each pack of cigarettes. This would double the State tax on those products. This dude's rationale for the increased tax, was as a further inducement to quit smoking, then finished his speech with "it will generate an additional 125 million dollars in revenue". Do you see the joke?

If the American Cancer Society thought the added tax would incentivize folks to quit smoking...............there would be ZERO additional tax revenue.................because far fewer people would be smoking. That's like rationalizing going to war to "save lives" and ending with "no more than 20% casualty rate expected". Perhaps, those 20% ers are already dead.

Another thing that struck me as hilarious, was the fact that this dude was trying to buy my Legislature with other people's money. Ten years ago, my State doubled their tobacco tax when the Fed doubled theirs, promising that the additional revenues would fund a State wide trauma system......................ten years later, we have the same number of level one trauma facilities as we had..................ten years ago.

The Legislature chose to defer action on this bid - until after the midterms. I wonder why?

It's way more than 72 million. The cost is 5 million PER WEEKEND - and that's NOT including the costs to State and local law enforcement agencies. In addition, the tax payer is picking up the costs for the monthly ( sometimes more frequent ) campaign rallies, sans the venue rental. Air Force One costs $5000 per minute to fly, each trip requires two C17's carrying the Beast and Secret service vehicles and all of those related costs. I estimate by December 2020.................we'll have spent 1.7 BILLION on P**********l play date.

Trump's longtime personal driver files lawsuit for backpay after 25 years of unpaid overtime

Noel Cintron spent 25 years working as Donald Trump’s personal driver and now he’s filed a lawsuit against his former employer for years of unpaid overtime. According to Blooomberg, he’s seeking compensation for 3,300 hours of overtime during a six-year period. He’s unable to seek compensation for the other 19 years of unpaid overtime due to the statute of limitations.
Cintron says that in 25 years of working for Trump, he only received two raises and the second wage came with a huge catch, a catch that essentially nullified any wage increase at all.
The wage bump in 2010 came with a catch, Cintron said. He was induced to surrender his health insurance, saving Trump approximately $17,866 per year in premiums, according to the lawsuit.
"President Trump’s further callousness and cupidity is further demonstrated by the fact that while he is purportedly a billionaire, he has not given his personal driver a meaningful raise in over 12 years!" Cintron said.
Cintron joins a long line of of people and businesses to be stiffed by “billionaire” Donald Trump.

Various committees of the House of Representatives have gone round and round with the leadership of the FBI and Department of Justice, specifically Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, over a perceived deliberate lack of compliance with repeated requests for the production of certain documents related to particular investigations.

Many conservative lawmakers have accused Rosenstein of being a “deep state” swamp creature hack that is purposefully hiding or withholding those documents in order to cover up criminal misdeeds or embarrassing examples of political bias or incompetence at the DOJ and FBI.

Of course, Rosenstein has denied that he is hiding or withholding anything without valid reason — such as the need to keep sensitive information relevant to ongoing investigations, sealed indictments, subpoenas and warrants under wraps for the time being — and has vowed to cooperate with all Congressional requests to the best of his ability.

But it would appear that House Republicans have grown tired of the dance with Rosenstein and are prepared to impose a drastic deadline upon him, one that could very well cost him his career if he continues to fail to comply with their demands for all requested documents, according to reporter Sara Carter.

In a 15-11 party-line v**e on Tuesday in the House Judiciary Committee, a resolution was advanced that would give Rosenstein only seven more days to comply with Congressional requests, lest he faces a possible impeachment or being held in contempt of Congress.


The clock will start ticking on Rosenstein as soon as the resolution is brought to the House floor on Thursday and passes a v**e by all members....
