True, it's all temporary, house of cards and unsustainable.
Malls are closing, strip malls are going high in vacancies...
Only in the Major population areas is the wreckage somewhat contained, but travel outside that and you see the evidence otherwise everywhere.
STay tuned for more.
I'll be posting my "eye on the ground" reports of businesses closing.
Currently my wife and I are on an extended vacation in our RV, motivated by sun seeking and warmer climate for my wife's RA, and the love of adventure.
So far our trip has covered from Seattle metro area, where we are now for another week and 4 days Redding California.
In Washington driving hwy 101/16 Sequim to Tacoma washington every city has empty or half empty mini malls. These come to mind because they all share a common factor....5-6 years ago they were all leased and located in high traffic area's. Interstate 5, hwy 405, interstate 90 covering areas of the highest incomes such as Microsoft, Deonderon, Boeing, Nintendo, REI, and a hundred others including major ports of entry. Some of the wealthiest zip codes Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah all have partial or empty mini malls and empty single point stores. Renton, Federal way the same, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver. Oregon state includes Beaverton, Salem, Eugene, Grants Pass, Medford all have the same major closures. Driving interstate 5 from Tacoma Washington to Redding California we see large warehouse sized companies with acreage size parking lots vacant, once major hardware stores, car dealerships you name it all closed. Now in Redding a City with around 200,000 population including bedroom communities is a bit scary. We were here around 2010 and now see multiple closures just off high traffic exits and interchanges. Vacancies in mini malls 20 business closures leaving 10 open, several grocery store closures, warehouses, just about everywhere. As we drive thru the city of Redding, at first one sees a thriving city, but begin spending more time, it becomes very obvious large portions of the city's businesses fell prey to the strain of the economy. Also due to a warm and mild climate there is an incredibly high population of t***sient peoples, t***sients literally everywhere we drive....very sad.
Speaking now of t***sients, I set my Rv up with a higher level solar, battery, inverter system enabling me to have A/C and complete 120 volt off the grid for dry camping at National forest and B*M land which is our next stop after Redding. We plan to zip zag the national and state forest lands all the way to Florida and have been told we may run into large populations of t***sients that began showing up the last few years a by product of the accelerating economy the liberal's are cheering about. I'll continue posting, and now thinking about it, will also post picture's of the reality liberal's claim does not exist.
