I couldn't agree with you more. Ca. is a beautiful State and it's a pity it's being run into the ground. There was a map of the proposed area and basically the old Ca. was a chunk of the coast from just north of San Fran south to the boarder. Of course there would be a huge fight as the bread basket of the State would be in New Ca. Hey, at least someone is trying and as with the President some times the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Disgruntled California residents want to establish a 51st state — and they want to call it New California.

Organizers of the movement say the Golden State has become "ungovernable," and claim that the U.S. Constitution gives them the right to do something about it.

"We are not changing the country, we are adding to it," co-founder of the movement Paul Preston told the Daily News on Tuesday. "We are forming a new state, we want to become the 51st state."

"New California" would include most of the rural areas in the state — organizers provided a detailed map of what it would look like.

Preston emphasizes that the leaders of the movement do not want to leave the U.S., just make it better. He believes that rural areas are virtually ignored and don't have proper representation.

"California does not provide for its citizens a Republican form of government," Preston tells The News. "We are over-taxed, the education system is beaten down, our business climate is terrible. We have massive numbers of homeless people in California that is not being addressed."

The group issued a formal Declaration of Independence on Monday.
