The newly passed budget bill included a provision to reduce by 1% the annual cost of living increase for retired military until they reach the age of 62. When the retired vet reaches 62, he/she would receive the whole cost of living increase. The retiree's entitled retirement pay, the pay based on the number years served, is not affected by this bill. Also, the bill did not exempt disability retirement, but Senator Murray vowed to go back and add that exemption as soon as congress convenes next year.

The rationale behind this bill is that most military retirees are quite young when they retire and are more likely to find employment in the private community. Case in point...I am a military retiree that retired with 22 years at 39 years of age. I plan to work in the private sector until I am eligible for social security, then retire again.

Even if I didn't plan on working, I would not have an issue with the law as written. One percent of the cost of living probably equates to one beer a day for me.

I think that A & E may find themselves without the very best show they have on now. I really don't think the rest of the family will succumb to the throwing out of Phil Robertson. The business gave in to the gay lobby and moved a little too soon, I think. I don't think there are any gays in that family and they won't sit back and allow this act to take only one of them down.

One of my favorite late night watches is on A & E but I won't be watching that channel until they admit to this mistake.

Bush did his vacations at his ranch, and his vacations were working vacations. Bush hosted world leaders at his ranch, and the expense of his vacations were a lot less. Bush also quit playing golf because he didn't think it was right for him to play golf while we were fighting two wars. Bush also did not send his wife and daughters on expensive vacations abroad, like the Obama's have. Nor, did Bush send his daughter off to Mexico during spring break, at taxpayers expense. The Obama's are elitists, and they think they should be treated like royalty. Hell, Obama is naturally lazy and doesn't show up for work until around 9:30 in the morning, and he spends more time on the golf course than he does in the oval office. In other words, he is a joke.

I don't know if you have heard, but Santa, good old Saint Nicholas is now black. Wonder when this happened?

Christmas as we once knew it, well it is not politically correct. In the 1960s, a new holiday called Kwanzaa was invented, in 2000 a complaint was made that "dreaming of a White Christmas" should not be sung or represented because that is not politically correct. Crosses, nativity scenes all over America is banned, school plays about the birth of Christ is not allowed. Praying (unless it is Muslim) is prohibited. I ask, what will be next?
