Mine was a '36 Chevrolet C**pe with one tiny tail light and, of course, no turn signals. Obviously still legal in 1955. Not necessarily my favorite car as a teenager, but it was mine and a quite a memorable first car.

Can't be right. Those stats are 20 years longer ago than that. An obvious clue is the number of stars on the f**g. In 1921 the f**g already had 48 stars. When 45 stars were on the f**g (1896-1909) is probably about the time of all those stats.
