In a 1715 pamphlet which I auctioned years ago, it said 'the three great scourges of mankind are priests, barristers and physicians. They left out politicians.

When are the courts going to realize that atheism is its own religion and that if the Congress can make "..no law respecting the establishment of religion" the courts sure as hell can't.

Re: Thomas Jefferson. In his "Syllabus" Jefferson said "I am a Christian, in the only sense in which he wished any one to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines, in preference to all others..."

For over 75 years I've heard over and over again the canard that the E*******l College was designed to keep demagogues and the unqualified out office.

Nothing could be further from the t***h.

Without the E*******l College New York and California would elect the presidents. The remaining 48 states would have no say in the e******n and all federal largesse would be spent on these two states.

James Madison, arguably the most knowledgeable person on world governments past and present, said in Federalist No. 10, there were two clear choices: pure democracy or representative government.
On democracy he said:

Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.

Needless to say he made the telling case for representative government.

The E*******l College preserves a States' representation to, and influence in, the Federal Government.

The United States has been consistently mis-represented as a democracy when it is not. Worse, 'democracy' is getting credit for the stability and safety that has arisen from a representative (republican) form of government.
It doesn't deserve that credit.

Why Hillary Lost the E******n

There have been many reasons (excuses?) advanced as to the cause of Hillary Clinton’s defeat at the polls.
Often this has taken the form of scapegoating, such as illiterate white v**ers (As opposed to the over-educated black v**ers?),
arrogance (As in the previous “reason”), talk radio, sexism, r****d primaries, economy, jobs, “Dogs don’t like it.”
and especially, FBI director Homey.

All reasons that are “Neat, plausible and WRONG!".

Everyone agrees that if Martha Stewart had done half of what Hillary did, Martha Stewart would have been swiftly indicted,
tried and sentenced to 20 years in jail.

The fact that Hillary was not subjected to the same legal standard is what ultimately did her in.
If she won, those at the top, government workers appointed or elected, would be above the law. Those below would suffer the legal penalties.

Americans, whether white, black, yellow or green, educated or otherwise understand that electing Hillary would have certified that America has a
two-tiered system of laws and justice. The Beltway Cabal would degenerate into the court of Louis XIV.

Many former non-v**ers registered and v**ed for the first time – Hillary’s crimes being the reason.

The pollsters for their part, failed to realize that the Democrats along with a shamefully compliant press, so vilified and trivialized Trump
that v**ers would not admit that he was their preferred candidate. So they simply lied.

Had the operatives of the Democratic Party listened to Trump their candidate would have won – it just couldn’t be her.
Trump said Hillary Clinton was a flawed candidate. He was right.

The e******n reflected the wisdom of the people.

The belief that only technical studies produce anything of value seems to be gaining a lot of traction in this forum as well as in TV programs like The Big Bang Theory.

This is a grievous error. The purpose of the humanities, properly taught and understood, is to inform present generations of the values, ideas, mistakes, and events that have shaped our modern world.
Foremost among these is history for without it we may use the technology that we possess to serve evil ends.

Marcus Tullius Cicero put it succinctly when he said:
“To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child."

Do we really want children in charge of this country's technology?

In response to the Koreagate scandal of 1976 Congress amended The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and made it a federal crime to not have backups of all records - specifically mentioning tape/ disk drives etc.

It applies to individuals as well as corporations providing they use a phone in the conduct of their business. Clearly, the intent was to cover emails.

Learner has a problem.

Excellent point regarding Lincoln's love of the mercantile system and one of his motivations for wanting the war.

The other less noticed but possibly stronger motivation for the war was Lincoln's dread fear of being forgotten after his death. This seems to have haunted him since his youth.

During the 1850's he remarked on numerous occasions to his friends and confidants that whoever frees the s***es will become the most famous person in the world. When one reads his First Political Announcement on March 9, 1832 in the Sangamon Journal that ...
"Every man is said to have his peculiar ambition ... I have no other so great as that of being truly esteemed of my fellow men, by rendering myself worthy of their esteem." He gives credence to this idea.

Lincoln, himself an inventor, could see that automation was going to drive out s***ery and that his obsessive need for fame could be fulfilled by freeing the s***es. Hence, if he could become President and get a civil war going his chances of world-wide fame would become possible.

In discussing the Emancipation Proclamation he is supposed to have said to his friend and law partner William Herndon at the White House .."They'll remember me for this won't they? They'll remember me.."

While s***ery was a blot on our country and its history, it should have been abolished in a rational way - educating the s***es and preparing them for the future - ideas that were current long before the Civil War. Up until Lincoln's presidency compromise had been the hallmark of the American experience. With Lincoln it never had a chance.

"A first-rate second-rate politician".
This dark motive of his may have had more to do with this most destructive war in our history costing the lives of 650,000 Americans and the trashing of our Constitution.

This story is a h**x. It used to be attributed to a city in Belgium. It's called propaganda and it has a mission.

A first reading of it should immediately make you suspicious. In which case you research it and find immediately that it is a fraud being perpetrated on you.

Also passing laws to punish specific groups after the fact is call a Bill of Attainder. As unconstitutional as you can get.

Instead of basing decisions on 70 years of propaganda it might help if everyone read renowned Israeli author and academic Ilan Pappe's "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine".

Using Israeli sources and interviews Pappe lays bare the premeditated meticulous planning (Beginning in 1936) that led to the mass expulsion in 1948-49 of over 800,000 Palestinians; theft of their legal property; massacres ; and other high crimes.

"Settlements" is the current euphemism for ripping people out of their homes and leveling their villages. An activity that continues right up to the present day without censure or condemnation.

Is it any wonder that 2 planes flew into the WTC while across the river in Jersey City Mossad agents were filming the event and high-fiving each other?

All in the name of racial purity. Sound familiar?
