But since you are going with an atheist astrophysicist, here's some God seeking science for ya.

Read this:
Return to the God Hypothesis: Three Scientific Discoveries That Reveal the Mind Behind the Universe.
by Dr. Stephen Meyer.

The New York Times bestselling author of Darwin’s Doubt, Stephen Meyer, presents groundbreaking scientific evidence of the existence of God, based on breakthroughs in physics, cosmology, and biology.

Beginning in the late 19th century, many intellectuals began to insist that scientific knowledge conflicts with traditional theistic belief—that science and belief in God are “at war.” Philosopher of science Stephen Meyer challenges this view by examining three scientific discoveries with decidedly theistic implications. Building on the case for the intelligent design of life that he developed in Signature in the Cell and Darwin’s Doubt, Meyer demonstrates how discoveries in cosmology and physics coupled with those in biology help to establish the identity of the designing intelligence behind life and the universe.

Meyer argues that theism—with its affirmation of a transcendent, intelligent and active creator—best explains the evidence we have concerning biological and cosmological origins. Previously Meyer refrained from attempting to answer questions about “who” might have designed life. Now he provides an evidence-based answer to perhaps the ultimate mystery of the universe. In so doing, he reveals a stunning conclusion: the data support not just the existence of an intelligent designer of some kind—but the existence of a personal God.

I'd very much like to see Neil DeGrasse Tyson (The Human who Destroys God) debate Dr. Meyer,
Meyer discusses Tyson and masterfully concludes his book with a chapter on the fallacy of the "God of the gaps".

This is how Meyer begins his Conclusion:

"At 2:00am on a wintery English night in December 1986, I sat outside Isaac Newton's old rooms at the front of Trinity College. As a deep fog moved among the medieval colleges in the center of Cambridge, I reflected on how thinking about science and God had changed since the publication of Newton's great Principia in 1687, almost exactly three centuries earlier. In the epilogue to a later edition of that book called "The General Scholium" and in other scientific works, notably the Optiks, Newton articulated a profoundly theological perspective. Not only did he extol the order and uniformity of nature as a reflection of God's character and superintending care of creation, he argued for the existence of God based on design evident in nature -- in short for a God hypothesis.

Meyer's book is a mind-blower, but you'd best have a pretty solid background in the physical sciences and math to negotiate some of the deep science involved. In fact, in introducing his book, Meyer said he tried to write the narratives to accommodate the widest readership, but that when diving into the science, casual readers may encounter problems. Even with my own science background, primarily in physics and the astro-sciences, I struggled through some sections totally baffled. But I got the message.

This book is a very elegant and thoughtful development and explanation of some fairly technical scientific concepts, but in the end falls back on the basic "God of the Gap" argument.

Smart people know to avoid fallacies.

One of them is known as the fallacy of post hoc ergo propter hoc.

It’s Latin for “after this, therefore because of this.”

The classic example concerns the rooster and the sunrise.

Every morning before the sun comes up, the rooster does his crazy crowing routine, waking up everyone around. Shortly after, the light begins to appear on the horizon.

If you knew nothing else, and you watched this happen over and over, you might conclude that the rooster is causing the sun to rise.

Of course, this is testable. You could k**l the rooster and see what happens. The sun still comes up. But wait just a moment. Just the fact that this one rooster is dead doesn’t mean that all roosters are gone. Some rooster somewhere is crowing and causing the sun to rise. So your little experiment doesn’t disprove the theory.

What a conundrum, right?

If someone is convinced that a bird is controlling the sun, there is probably no way to convince him otherwise.

We can laugh at this example. How can someone be so dumb? Actually, this basic fallacy affects all science in all times, all places, and all subjects.

MY COMMENT: Examples: 1) Look, California’s cases are down and California bans gatherings, therefore coercive measures are controlling v***s spread! 2) Countless famous people took to social media to announce they had C****-** but it was a mild case thanks to the v*****e, or 3) I took the v*****e and got weak, tired, and a bad headache, so I know the v*****e was working!

Easy enough to test your rooster hypothesis. Find a spot in either the Atlantic or the Pacific were the ocean goes from pole to pole. Since there is no land along the band (terminator?) where the sun should rise, plus or minus a 100 miles or so, if the sun does rise then roosters had nothing to do with it since none were present in any location on earth that was within a few minutes of sunrise. Now if the sun doesn't rise,

Even with the "gag" order, he'll destroy Biden. I wonder what rules they would try to impose

Simple, Slo' Joe will get 20 minutes to answer each question and be allowed to use a teleprompter. Answers will be delayed for 60 seconds so they can be edited prior to being broadcasted. Trump will get 10 seconds to answer each open ended question and will not be allowed to use a microphone and will have his hands tied behind his back!

If Israel wanted there could easily be 300,000 civilian deaths, not the Hamas claimed 30,000. They are in no way "indiscriminate"

Of course there is no question that Hamas has done and doubled checked an exact body count to come up with it's 30,000 number. They want to make sure that they don't over estimate the number of strictly civilian deaths, so no Hamas military deaths are counted.

If Hamas really cared about it's civilian population why did it attack Israel? Slo' Joe is not the PM of that country! Japan 'only' k**led ~2,000 people and sunk a handful of ships at Pearl Harbor, I guess we were suppose to have ignored that instead of getting into the most savage war in history.

#1 Show me why you think this, other than just assuming it is the case.

# 2 I believe that Cornwallis signed articles of surrender at Yorktown, and latter the British pulled all of their troops and government officials out of the colonies. Also a few years latter we had PRESIDENT George and a CONGRESS running the the country, not KING George and a PARLIMENT.

What should be done is return the program to trust fund status. Congress has used it for pet projects.

In a way it already is. The cash the government took out to pay for all their pet projects were replaced with treasury IOU's (surplus fund) which SS is currently drawing down and is expected to be drained in about 8-10 years. At that point SS will be in exactly the same financial bind that would exist if not a nickel of SS taxes had ever been taken out. The root problem is a large population of long-living people drawing SS and much smaller number of people paying into SS, i.e. outgo>income.

Any nuclear exchange involving 100's of detonation is not going to be limited to damage in the countries involved. Besides the world wide spread of radiation and changes in w*****r p*****ns (ex. nuclear winter) disruptions to communication, trade, travel etc. would effect everybody. This would include essentials such as food and fuel. Even having a rad meter might not help much. It can tell you if a potential food/water source is contaminated, but would do nothing to fill your belly or quench your thirst.

I say start locking them up for r**ting and use the National Guard to do it.

I would add in that even the actions and rhetoric of hamas et. al. in the past would also justify Israel's current actions. Wasn't Gaza basically a "second nation", being run by the locals and independent of Israel for 20 years or so?

He might have read it, but I doubt if he truly understood what you were trying to point out. He seems to be unable to grasp the concept that the earth and everything on it are all moving as a single entity and thus everything "appears" to be at rest (i.e. relativity).
