Reminds me of what my Puerto Rican mother had to say about American tourists. Years later I had a chance to see the smug condescension of some American tourists first hand.

As an example, Wells Fargo, has been found, on two different occasions, to be c***ting it's customers. There is now a third allegation against them for overcharging fees on international financial t***sactions. This indicates to me that some kind of oversight is needed to protect the public from the financial shenanigans of large banks.

Thank you for a well written history report. It's an excellent starting point for future discussions.

Do you mean hypocrites? Hippocrates is the Greek for whom the medical Hippocratic oath is named.

Thanks for this post. I totally agree with you. Without civil discussion, we can't find ways to come together to work out solutions to the problems we face.

Dissenting views are good for a free country. We can learn from each other IF we are willing to listen to understand rather than just listening to reply.

I believe the punishment should fit the crime. Minor traffic violations and misdemeanor do not legally qualify for the death penalty. They should not be used as a reason to k**l an offender in the streets.

Thank your for your courage and honesty. You truly are not alone. I know someone who was raped when she was 15. The circumstances of this crime meet the definition of statutory rape in her home state. This case went to trial and the rapist was found guilty. The girl was put on probation for one year because the judge said she didn't fight back hard enough even though legally she wasn't old enough to consent to sexual activity. In essence she was victimized by the rapist and by the justice system.

This incident took place in the '50's. The way in which our justice system treats rape/ sexual assault victims hasn't changed much. These are deeply personal and deeply painful occurrences. Many do not understand that sexual assault isn't about sex; it's about power. There is no love or no fun in a sexual assault. Many sexual assaults go unreported precisely because the victim doesn't want to face the attacker again in a court setting where she is expected to somehow prove she is not at fault for having been attacked.

Seems to me that both good and evil live in people regardless of the labels we use to describe them (Christian, Muslim, b****s, w****s, Democrats, Republicans, straight, gay, etc.)

I agree. Politics has nothing to do with this.

Reminds me of advice I got from neighbors when I was in my twenties. They said I should live my life now and not postpone travels and good times until retirement. I didn't do that n enough. They were right; health does change and can hinder that enjoyment now.

To point #1, the citizens who are subsidized include infants, children, and seniors in nursing homes. The young ones don't know what the word victim means. Those seniors whose nursing home care is covered by Medicaid have met poverty guidelines. What victimized them is the high cost of nursing home care.
