The money was earmarked for Roads and related infrastructure improvements..

This is exactly what our state legislators in Tx have done too. Back in the 90's, when some of our elected state reps found out how many $$$'s had accumulated in our (earmarked) dedicated road, highway, and bridges fund(s) over the years-it was a huge amount-they started scheming how to get their hands on this. They are always searching for new ways to fund their stupid and unsellable give-aways.. esp the ones which noone in their right mind could or would reasonably support. This was done on a bi-partisan level too. No politician in history has ever seen a large sum of (govt controlled) money sitting there (pretty much idle) which they didn't feel entitled to 'redistribute' for their own special needs.. regardless of it being specifically earmarked for only certain purposes. Just like their big bros in Wash did to $$$'s earmarked for our SS funds, our state representatives started using every excuse imaginable to 'borrow' from our road/bridge funds, and redirect it (all) to help facilitate all their schemes, give-aways, and pet projects (usually under the table and with little to no oversight). Create a perceived crisis or emergency to justify 'borrowing' (against the rules) things clearly, purposely, and responsibly set aside for our future needs.. which is just outright theft. They used every ridiculous excuse imaginable to justify this, too. They needed more money for education.. the kids use roads to get to school.. therefore this justified taking road funds and giving it to the education quagmire (which our lottery was theoretically going to provide all funding for in the future). What we have ended up with.. in both the SS and our dedicated road funds pilfering.. are accounts full of worthless IOU's.. which none of them ever intended to repay (on their watch anyway). Now, here in Tx, they are attempting to ram/shove toll roads onto us to hide the fact they spent all the funds we had already set aside for the future.. which (with reckless abandon) they had 'borrowed from till it was almost dry'...

The theft of these funds (here in Tx back in the late 80/90's) IS THE ISSUE that opened my eye fully, and motivated me to start paying real attention to the bulls**t that many of our politicians were feeding us. It has steadily gotten worse since then. I truly believe at this point in time 90-95% aren't worth spitting on.. and this is on both sides.

Thank goodness our Prez isn't a politician...MAGA2020

He needs to clean out all the depts, and figure out how to end the practice of political appointments within these organizations-this is why there is an obvious two tiered justice system. Both sides have abused this privilege.. and in all honesty neither genuinely want Trump to succeed... The drama queens will come out in force to k**l any serious reform(s) he attempts, and the swamp worshipping media will enthusiastically carry their water. The are already well practiced at utilizing the old 'any enemy of my enemy, is my friend' mindset.. and our Prez (along with anyone supporting him) is just the latest enemy in their sights. I think they all realize any serious and thorough scrutiny of these organizations is going to show both sides deserve credit for the quagmire that has been created (as a result of this appointment process). Either both (sides) will go down.. or neither.. because they're so intertwined in this garbage. Trump might have to wait until after the next e******ns to get serious though.. when 'he will have more flexibility' (where have we heard this prediction before) to properly address the whole lot of them...lol

Thanks for validating my earlier prediction Frosty (that even you could/would understand my intended msg)..even though you then immediately mischaracterized Trump's role and intention(s) concerning exposing and reforming this quagmire.

Yeah Frosty..I will even explain his biggest one.. and this is a 'no brainer', too.. so you should easily understand. Shortly after becoming our President-as promised-he began 'pulling back the curtain' exposing the cesspool in Wash. This has been very enlightening for those who choose to allow their brains to process the bulls**t their eyes have seen, and/or [their] ears have heard, which our dysfunctional swamp has been slowly but steadily ramping up for the last 20-30 yrs. This has been his biggest achievement so far-promising to expose this was a huge factor that definitely helped elect him... If he continues delivering as he has.. despite the obvious garbage being thrown at him non-stop by your side..this is going to get him re-elected, too.

There's another 'plus' because of this 'achievement' too... This has apparently also started some kind of an unofficial contest to compete for the title of the biggest most hypocritical and morally bankrupt sycophant currently protecting and/or supporting their swamp. The 'over-achievers' and self-imagined intellectuals have come out of the woodwork to participate. Obviously, everybody up there was and still is eligible... This has allowed the overwhelming majority our 'can't get anything done' politicians.. the incredibly biased cheerleading media.. and the rest of the Wash pay-to-play establishment embedded everywhere.. to repeatably get in line for the recognition they so desperately desire..or deserve (depending on which side you support).

That is great news...now we need to re-educate the 'pro choicers' about when their 'choice' (mainly concerning unplanned pregnancy) actually occurred. [hint:It's before the woman's 'little friend' doesn't show up.. or they're feeling ill in the AM.. and certainly before cravings for pickles/ice cream combos begin]

Hey.. the topic we are all discussing here concerns organized groups of very unhappy supporters..not the swamp rats they stupidly elected... Try to keep up and on track-don't attempt to change the subject simply b/c there are no documented instances showing organized mobs of conservative v**ers and protestors being openly encouraged to threaten, intimidate, and initiate violence towards obama supporters (during his 8 yr run).

[BTW.. even your pitiful attempt to shift the focus of this discussion (away from the despicable activities supporters like you engage in) is flawed-for his entire 8 yrs, obama only had to fight the rats from one party while implementing his 'America sucks' agenda. Trump has had to fight the whole damn rotten bunch.. and despite these swamp dwellers best efforts.. in his first 3 yrs has still accomplished more than any Prez in recent history]

And where were you during the eight years of Obama, with the right's constant incessant cry?

I hope it's already been pointed out.. b/c I'm not reading thru 6 pages of comments on this.. but we all know what folks on the right DIDN'T become consumed with engaging in during obama's reign...here's a blurb from a piece written just 4 months into Trump's Presidency.. listing only a smidgeon of the inarguable things you liberals (and Trump hating media) are still going full speed on today...

"You can thank media outlets for escalating the tensions and urging left-wing shock troops to declare war on the right. HuffPost went so far as to encourage harassment of Trump officials and pundits, calling for them to, “be hounded by protestors [sic] everywhere, especially in public.” HuffPost is led by a supposedly respected former New York Times editor Lydia Polgreen.

The left’s insanity has gained momentum from incidents during the campaign and turned into an avalanche of crazy -- less than four months into President Donald Trump’s first term. In that time, we’ve had three r**ts in Berkeley, Calif., and an inaugural r**t so bad that 200 people have been charged with felonies. One of those has already been convicted. So-called “a****a” attacks on Trump events are now common and conservative speakers like Ann Coulter have to cancel events out of a fear of violence. A Portland, Ore., parade was shut down for similar threats against the right. The ironically-named Students for Justice in Palestine just shut down a pro-Israel event at The University of California, Irvine, shouting “f*** you” at attendees."

I think the major problem in Washington is as you say, nobody wants to upset the Apple care and risk not getting re elected. If they took away any freebies then somebody might not v**e for them and poof, they are afraid they would have to go out and get a real job!!!!!! That is both sides of the aisle. The people in our federal government really really REALLY don’t care about the country, they care about the power and the money they are making on the side. That’s why term limits need to be set, though it will probably never happen, and the less money we have to give the gov the less they can waste.

They claim they spend their entire lives in public service, but they in reality are spending their entire lives lining their pockets and manipulating the average tax payer. You wanna spend a lifetime helping the public? Get a real job and add to the GDP and pay some more taxes........ donate to a reputable charity........ volunteer and help the disadvantaged!!!!! Serve in the senate or house for a few years and then go the heck home!!!!!!!

Yep...and you just 'outed' the swamp that has infiltrated.. corrupted.. and is now in control of the (Trump hating) cesspool which Wash has become. This DIDN'T happen overnite either.. it's been ramping up for at least the last 20-30 yrs.. and both sides are obviously culpable. During this time, they have gamed and tainted every single thing imaginable-ANYTHING they have touched. Every govt agency, program, and regulatory/oversight committee they've controlled and/or created has been intentionally and systemically 'loaded up' with their loyal minions. Now, as we are plainly seeing, these loyal minions are.. w/o question or command.. making sure no clear picture or proof of this can.. or ever will be.. established.

For those of you who have never traveled to the west or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (and sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.

Subsequent to BarackObama becoming president, he proposed changes to federal grazing policies which, Colorado ranchers quickly protested. Obama subsequently received an interior department report that informed him that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. He argued that providing cattle guards to the Colorado farm and ranch industry was a ridiculous use of human resources so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the "cattle guards” immediately!

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to better inform President Obama about what a “cattle guard” is, Vice-President Joe Biden, intervened with a request that, before any "cattle guards” were to be fired, they should be given six months of retraining.

'Times are hard,' said Joe Biden, “it's only fair to the cattle guards that they be given six months of retraining to reduce their impact of their termination on their families!”

While those two guys were running our country, everything they touched became a mess.

NOW JOE WANTS TO BE YOUR PRESIDENT!

Badbobby-here's another one about a different 'Joe'...

What goes around...hehe Joe the Plumber!!!

Joe the Plumber (Circa 2017). Only weeks after leaving office, Barack Obama discovers a leak under his sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come out and fix it. Joe drives to Obama's new house, which is located in a very exclusive gated community where all the residents make more than $250,000 per year. Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the guest bathroom that contains the leaky pipe under the sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama that it's an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes. Obama asks Joe how much it will cost. Joe checks his rate chart and says, "$9,500." "What?! $9,500?" Obama asks, stunned, "But you said it's an easy repair!Joe says, "Yes, but what I do is charge those who make $250,000 per year a much higher amount so I can fix the plumbing of poorer people for free," explains Joe. "This has always been my philosophy. As a matter of fact, I lobbied the Democrat Congress, who passed this philosophy into law. Now all plumbers must do business this way. It's known as 'Affordable Plumbing Act of 2014.' I’m Surprised you haven't heard of it."In spite of that, Obama tells Joe there's no way he's paying that much for a small plumbing repair, so Joe leaves. Obama spends the next hour flipping through the phone book calling for another plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing businesses in the area have gone out of business. Not wanting to pay Joe's price, Obama does nothing and the leak goes unrepaired for several more days.

A week later the leak is so bad that Obama has had to put a bucket under the sink. Michelle is not happy as she has guests arriving the next morning. The bucket fills up quickly and has to be emptied every hour and there's a risk that the room will flood, so Obama calls Joe and pleads with him to return. Joe goes back to Obama's house, looks at the leaky pipe, checks his new rate chart and says, “Let's see, this will now cost you $21,000." Obama quickly fires back, "What! A few days ago you told me it would cost $9,500!" Joe explains, "Well, because of the 'Affordable Plumbing Act,' a lot of wealthier people are learning how to maintain and take care of their own plumbing, so there are fewer payers into the plumbing exchanges. As a result, the price I have to charge wealthy people like you keeps rising. Not only that, but for some reason the demand for plumbing work by those who get it for free has skyrocketed! There's a long waiting list of those who need repairs but the amount we get doesn't cover our costs. This unfortunately has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out of business, they're not being replaced, and nobody is going into the plumbing business because they know they can't make any money at it. I'm hurting too, all thanks to greedy rich people like you who won't pay their fair share." Obama says, "Joe! This is really bad. If all the rich people learn how to fix and maintain their own plumbing and you can't charge the poorer people, you'll be broke! What will you do then?" Joe replies, "I may have to run for public office!"

I disagree..he(Joe) just might be overqualified!!!

That is a great piece, and the point it makes perfectly sums up what used to be the universal mindset of most mainstream Americans. In short..after WW2 we rightfully adopted a 'lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way' type attitude on the world stage. It wasn't easy, cheap, or pretty..but we saved the world's ass from being dominated and run by a narcissistic megalomaniac with whom any type of negotiations or 'deals' were absolutely pointless-there are no reasonable arguments which disputes this..NONE. We would all be speaking German right now if our country hadn't come to the rescue by entering..and then ending..the war. We just need to start completely ignoring all these i***ts who keep whining that we're bullies who are only out for ourselves-we are better than this...
