We don't regime change, we elect our leaders and keep our Constitution. In Russia, it's who has the most power and is willing to do anything to get and keep power.
Russia has invaded several countries and has stolen their territory. The last time we did that was the Spanish-American War at the beginning of the twentieth century. All the other wars have either been in defense of our allies or ourselves. It is true that the cold war saw conflict in Korea which invaded an ally of the US, and Viet Nam which caused tremendous upheaval in the US and it's political system. In any case, we have not taken any other countries territory, and we are a liberal democracy. As imperfect as the US is, we are far away from being a dictatorship in which the power of the people and the freedom of speech and information have been extremely limited.

Where DO you get your so-called "facts", salt? Did you forget that I know things you do not know?

You, or your attitude, offends me because it is typically American: These "facts" are my received wisdom, and because this is what I have been taught and because I am an American, that makes them true.

It is just that sort of self-righteousness and pretentiousness that I find abhorrent in (most) Americans. (See below):

Self-righteousness:

confident of one's own righteousness, especially when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others.

Pretentiousness:
1.
characterized by assumption of dignity or importance, especially when exaggerated or undeserved:
a pretentious, self-important waiter.
2.
making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious.
3.
full of pretense or pretension; having no factual basis; false.

Perhaps this self-righteousness and pretentiousness is an attempt to hide much deeper feelings of inferiority. What do you think?

From a Pastor - Thoughts On Donald Trump

Is Trump good for America? I mentioned Sunday that I would speak on this next week. Unfortunately, I felt I was shoehorning this topic into my planned message. To properly present what I want to speak on Sunday, I may have to leave the Donald out of it! Let me take a minute for those that wonder and give some thoughts.

When I first heard that DT was entering the race last year, I told my wife that I felt that it was a good thing for the party and America. I knew that he was not a "saint," but I knew that he would be like a bull in a china shop. He is a disrupter and I believe America could use a fresh thinker especially in the political arena. I didn't think he would get the nomination, but felt it would shake up politics as usual. I was correct on the shaking up part. : )

Lance Wallnau likens him to a biblical Cyrus. Someone who is dynamically used of God even though not perceived by many as a God follower. God has used many people in history that I would probably not like or agree with. I’m not sure I would have liked the disciples, or David, or Moses. Somehow, God did not seem compelled to consult with me! : )

I have always liked Winston Churchill. He is seen as one of the greatest national leaders in the 20th century. Last year, I had the privilege of going through the War Museum in London. Winston is a key feature. His life is controversial. He was not always celebrated as a great leader. He was a bombastic, cigar smoking, at times crude, even misogynistic leader. It is alleged that he told off color stories to his children before bedtime! A woman once told him he was d********gly drunk. His response was "My dear, you are d********gly ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly!"

There are many websites that discuss the outlandish comments and activities of this great world leader. He had exactly what was needed to stop Hitler at the Channel, to rouse a nation to never give up and to partner with America to find final victory in Europe. You wouldn't want him as your pastor, maybe not even your father, but he was the right leader for that moment in England's history. Such a brazen man that would go up to the roof of his quarters in central London and smoke cigars as Hitler’s air force bombed all around him. I’m not sure I would have v**ed for him....but he was the right man.

I think it would be awesome to have a righteous leader, that understood the intricacies of the economy, health care, defense, immigration, with great sensitivity to religious institutions, a heart for the poor, a vision for the future. If that leader was a praying person, formidable in the word of God and loved the local church, I would rejoice! I do not think that is the choice we will have in November.

Instead....we will look for someone who is imperfect, yet will fit the times we are living in. Particularly, that ‘whoever’ we v**e for, it will be someone who might possibly have the opportunity to appoint up to three supreme court justices. That could shape our culture in America for the next 30 years...radically. The America of our grandchildren could be very different....and that may not be good. We cannot stay still. A non-v**e is a passive v**e for a direction we may regret.

So....is DT good for America? I honestly believe that he has been already. He has shaken the political system. Do his comments offend me? At times. Do I agree with all he says? Not at all. Is he a “Cyrus” that is being raised up by God to preserve America? Time will tell.

This I know. I will v**e for the best chance for America. I will pray for our leaders as I have already. In the end....God will continue to be my source and my hope. I do believe that God has had a hand in America's history. I hope He also will have a hand in its future.

Nicely said. David was a man "after God's own heart." Yet David fell for Bathsheba and after trying to get Uriah to go home to her, finally had to k**l him.

Reminds me of someone on Galt's Gulch who asked: "Does God have, or should God have, the same morals he expects us to have." I don't think so.

I do know He has to have things his own way. Don't ask me how I know that.

One wonders if Republican leaders have begun to realize that they may have hitched their fate and the fate of their party to a man with a disordered personality. We can leave it to the professionals to determine exactly what to call it. Suffice to say that Donald Trump’s response to the assorted speakers at the Democratic National Convention has not been rational.

Why denigrate the parents of a soldier who died serving his country in Iraq? And why keep it going for four days? Why assail the record of a decorated general who commanded U.S. forces in Afghanistan? Why make fun of the stature of a popular former mayor of New York? Surely Trump must know that at any convention, including his own, people get up and criticize the opposition party’s nominee. They get their shots in, just as your party got its shots in. And then you move on to the next phase of the campaign. You don’t take a crack at every single person who criticized you. And you especially don’t pick fights that you can’t possibly win, such as against a grieving Gold Star mother or a general. It’s simply not in your interest to do so.

The fact that Trump could not help himself, that he clearly did, as he said, want to “hit” everyone who spoke against him at the Democratic convention, suggests that there really is something wrong with the man. It is not just that he is incapable of empathy. It is not just that he feels he must respond to every criticism he receives by attacking and denigrating the critic, no matter how small or inconsequential. If you are a Republican, the real problem, and the thing that ought to keep you up nights as we head into the final 100 days of this campaign, is that the man cannot control himself. He cannot hold back even when it is manifestly in his interest to do so. What’s more, his psychological pathologies are ultimately self-destructive.

Obama Says Trump Unfit to Serve as President
President Obama said on Tuesday that Donald J. Trump was “woefully unprepared” to serve as president, and asked why Republicans kept distancing themselves from the candidate while still supporting him.

WASHINGTON — In his strongest denunciation of Donald J. Trump so far, President Obama on Tuesday said Mr. Trump was “unfit to serve as president” and urged the leaders of the Republican Party to withdraw their backing for his candidacy.

Mr. Obama said the Republican criticisms of Mr. Trump “ring hollow” if the party’s leaders continue to support his bid for the presidency this fall, particularly in light of Republican criticisms of Mr. Trump for his attacks on the Muslim parents of an American soldier, Humayun Khan, who died in Iraq.

“The question they have to ask themselves is: If you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?” Mr. Obama said at a news conference at the White House.

Mr. Obama said that in addition to Mr. Trump’s comments about the Khan family, the Republican nominee had demonstrated that he was “woefully unprepared to do this job.” The president said Mr. Trump lacked knowledge about Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

“This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe. This is daily,” Mr. Obama added. “There has to be a point at which you say, this is not somebody I can support for president of the United States, even if he purports to be a member of my party. The fact that that has not yet happened makes some of these denunciations ring hollow.”

Mr. Obama’s comments came as he stood next to Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore, in the East Room of the White House. The president is hosting a state dinner Tuesday evening to highlight 50 years of cooperation in Asia between the two countries.

That setting stood in sharp contrast to Mr. Trump, who was delivering a campaign speech in a rally at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Va., at the same time that Mr. Obama made his remarks.

Mr. Trump questioned Hillary Clinton’s ability to serve as president and called her a “thief” who should not be allowed to serve in the Oval Office.

“She’s got a bad temperament,” he told a packed auditorium. “She’s got the temperament of a loser.”

Four minutes into his speech, he accused Mrs. Clinton of lying to Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday,” as chants of “Lock her up” filled the auditorium.

“She said the F.B.I. director said like everything was just perfect, and it wasn’t,” Mr. Trump said in reference to James B. Comey and the bureau’s inquiry into her personal email server. “I mean, she lied. She, pure and simple, she only knows to lie. She really does. She only knows to lie. But she lied, and it’s a big story.”

And even as Mr. Obama discussed trade policy and security issues with the Singaporean prime minister, Mr. Trump criticized world leaders. He said he would ask Angela Merkel, the chancellor of Germany, “what went wrong” in her country. And he criticized Mrs. Clinton for what he called “terrible relations” with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia.

While there was no immediate reaction to Mr. Obama’s comments from House Speaker Paul D. Ryan or Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, one Republican House member had already taken the president’s advice earlier on Tuesday.

Representative Richard Hanna, Republican of New York, said Tuesday morning that he plans to v**e for Mrs. Clinton, calling Mr. Trump “unfit to serve” as the nation’s president and commander in chief.

Mr. Hanna, who is retiring at the end of his term in January, has said before that he could not support Mr. Trump’s candidacy. But his willingness to endorse Mrs. Clinton, a Democrat, sends a dramatic message to his colleagues in the Republican Party.
He announced his decision in an interview and in a column that he posted on Syracuse.com. In both, he said he came to his decision to support Mrs. Clinton in part because of Mr. Trump’s comments about Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of the fallen American soldier.

“I was stunned by the callousness of his comments,” Mr. Hanna said. “I think Trump is a national embarrassment. Is he really the guy you want to have the nuclear codes?”

Correction: August 2, 2016

An earlier version of this article misstated where Mr. Obama made his comments. He was in the East Room of the White House, not on the South Lawn.

Alexander Burns contributed reporting from New York and Nick Corasaniti contributed from Ashburn, Va.
