He is not the only thoughtful person who objected to the Vietnam War, I'm sure colored by his WWII experiences in military intelligence at the G2 level.
His foxhole was next the Max Taylor's. He survived the Normandy landing because he got bumped from the glider by the Assistant Division Commander. That glider didn't make it, no did the ADC. The "possible" child molestation was probably by a spoiled child who didn't want to be disciplined. A close personal friend of mine has gone through the same thing. The daughter is blithely happy, but the father has been socially shackled for over 30 years.
Having Wikipedia you are aware that the family has disavowed the allegations. Thanks for reading, and especially for the Wikipedia follow-up. Few readers take the time to research further. Appreciate that.

Cutting and pasting several se******ns from a book I recently completed--Sergeant Nibley: An Unlikely Screaming Eagle. Hugh Nibley enlisted in the Army on 28 Sep 1942. He was 32 years old, had a PhD., and was teaching at Claremont College; Claremont, California. He was a Master Sergeant when discharged three years later. He was conversant in at least 12 different languages and may have had a passable understanding in a dozen more. Because of his unique qualifications he was placed in military intelligence, giving him access to information not available to most company grade officers serving on the front line. His observations warrant contemplation by thoughtful Americans as we approach the v****g booth.

“Despots are dangerous, but they are never as dangerous in themselves as the popular attitudes that put them in power. Hitler was hungry for power and Germany was hungry for a strong leader. “ p. 11.

“[After the war the generals] discovered the concept of brushfire wars. It was General Taylor who burst in one day in high glee. He had been over to Washington and he was back, so excited he could hardly contain himself. They had discovered we could always have these little wars where we can go in and mop up and get our promotions. We can get our practice, we can keep in drill, and we can always keep pressure on Congress for more money because these are going on. It’s ideal. We could have these little wars going on continuously with no great risk.” p. 275

HERMAN GOERING: “Voice, or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.” pp. 326-327

BREAKING – Two of Hillary’s Top Advisors Just EXPOSED Her! Nobody Will V**e For Her After THIS

Posted By Brian C. - Oct 28, 2016 - Angry Patriot

We can credit Julian Assange for exposing what many already knew about Hillary Clinton. She is extremely corrupt, and her claims of a “right-wing conspiracy” are yet another lie. Although they probably won’t jump ship any time soon, two of Hillary’s closest advisers had an email exchange that showed just how weak her leadership would be.

“We’ve taken on a lot of water that won’t be easy to pump out of the boat,” John Podesta wrote to Neera Tanden. “Most of that has to do with terrible decisions made pre-campaign, but a lot has to do with her instincts.” (per LibertyWritersNews.com).

“Almost no one knows any better than me that her instincts can be terrible,” Tanden responded back. We would concur that Clinton’s instincts are terrible, after all, it has been demonstrated time and again. Her support of the troop withdrawal in Iraq, the failed Russian “reset”, and the disturbing Iran nuclear deal are just a few examples.

Interestingly enough, Tanden and Podesta also had some things to say about the email scandal. Surprisingly, they demonstrated they are aware of Hillary’s lack of honesty. In the process, they revealed their own character as a bunch of yes-men.

“Why didn’t they get this stuff out eighteen months ago?” Tanden asked rhetorically to Podesta. “So crazy. I guess I know the answer: they wanted to get away with it.”

The problem, of course, lies in the loyalties of these two. While they might have realized that Clinton has poor character, they also realize she is their bread and butter. It apparently doesn’t matter to them one iota that she is the most corrupt candidate in the history of our country.

Seriously folks. Frequently, despotic leaders are enabled by the individuals working for them. “I was just following orders,” was the common refrain during the Nuremburg trials in the aftermath of N**i Germany.

And no, we are not comparing Hillary Clinton to Hitler. That’s a mighty big leap. However, P**********l leadership is something the common citizen should take very seriously. As any student of history knows, the fate of the world can often very easily “turn on a dime”. Were it not for the effective leadership of FDR and Truman, Hitler could have easily won. We need strong leadership.

Although Hillary might gain some v**es from misinformed v**er, the facts of her character are crystal clear to us, and she won’t be getting any v**es here!

Are they seriously comparing something that Donald Trump said ten years ago, to Clinton’s proven flawed leadership?

This just isn’t a race and, deep down, even Hillary’s employees know it!

Why should non-Muslim taxpayers in the West pay for grotesque sharia practices (or any islamic practices for that matter)?
As Muslim immigration increases in the US, we see polygamy growing here as well. We will see the same kind of abuse of Hillary makes good on her vow to increase Muslim migrants to this country by 550%.

And from 1835 to 1896 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were persecuted/prosecuted by the U.S. government for practicing
polygamy on their own dime.

If one can't pause long enough to cheer one's team's accomplishment, what's the point in all this h**eful talk from all sides about losing rights etc? This is an open forum, correct?

If you have nothing to enjoy, I feel sad for you but don't be a wet blanket for those of us who can still find enjoyment..

My mistake. Like most responders and posters on this site I did not fact check first, although that was in

You say "Now if they just win the series I can die in peace!" --- What a stupid Statement.

It would appear you are not from the Chicago environs and have not routed for "America's Team" for 70 years.
It's ironic that the last time the Cubs played in a World Series it was against Cleveland.
Let us enjoy this brief moment of delight without drivel.

Wish my dad was still alive to live this moment. He followed the Cubs since the 1930's.
He shared with me watching Hack Wilson fall asleep on the playing field because he was
so hung over. Also wish Ernie Banks was still around to share in the moment.

Lacking the technical sk**l to, I think it's called, cut and paste, the column on OPP perhaps someone can find the column and post it. It's a must read, rather long but worth the time, and very informative. It explains the insane mindset of some of the liberal women after being raped by Muslim refugees, and the excuses that excuse the rapist for why he did what he did. It's almost too much to believe; the insane reasoning process of some liberals.

I believe I read of such an incident in Sweden. It involved the daughter, not the mother. If I remember correctly the behavior involved
unsolicited, unwarranted advances, not rape in the sense one imagines. Nonetheless, it underscores the lack of regard these fools have
for women.

I joined this website a number of months ago in anticipation of reading thoughtful, intelligently written responses to a number of social, economic and political issues. Sadly, that has not been the case. Occasionally there are reasoned discussions of a topic, but nearly every post reduces to juvenile name-calling. Most of this name-calling appears to be initiated by individuals declaring themselves Conservatives. As I scan some of these responses—I read little from this site anymore—I often recall the comment by an irrate Marine Corps drill instructor nearly six decades ago, “Do you think I'm talking just to hear my head roar?” As I scan the replies to most posts it seems that the respondent's primary purpose is to hear his head roar.

In the spirit of encouraging a more enlightened use of this website I submit the following by Calvin M. Logue, University of Georgia.
“In the Untied States, as we begin the twenty-first century, too often street and school rage has replaced civil discourse. In the political arena, podium frenzy routinely substitutes for reasonable explanations of stands on vital issues. On religious circuits, ethical tenets can deteriorate to self-indulgence. When demagogic acts monopolize participation and decisions, the body politic and individual well-being suffer.

In contrast, enlightened communicative initiatives by citizens of diverse voices can contribute substantially to the uplifting of the human condition. While poised ignorance and corrupt promises are protected by the Constitution, a free exchange of judicious experience and instructive judgment can expose those rhetorical excesses. Requisite to an informed dialogue beneficial to people and institutions is the understanding, appreciation, and mastering of the liberal art of public speaking. In a nation and world still experimenting with democratic procedures, I can think of no higher calling than to teach free, disciplined, and effective public speaking--the practical art--as I have strived to do for more than three decades.

Through a continuing process of shared inquiry, evaluation, and encouragement, structor and student strive to grow in knowledge, discernment, and appreciation of the worth of the individual, cultures, ideas, values, and opportunities for personal and societal advancement. As with any art form, in seeking these old ends, results are inevitably mixed. More times than not, however, I have been gratified to watch as students confront challenging issues in class responsibly and leave the university to participate productively in small and large communities.” Calvin M. Logue in Extraordinary Teachers: The Essence of Excellent Teaching. Page 175
