Being on the Left Coast and OPP being on the Right Coast, this conversation has proceeded apace and I'm somewhere back here in the dust cloud. Bottom line for me personally, "I believe in God, creator of all things seen and unseen..." from the Nicene or Apostles Creed recited at Catholic Masses. Straight, gay or wavy, we're all God's kids and He doesn't have grandkids. (As much fun as grandkids are, every living being has a direct relationship with its Creator.) Some things we have control over some things we accept just because they are what they are. White skin, black skin, being 6'6" or 5'3". "God grant me the Serenity..."

Every homosexual person I have met told me that they have tried very hard, often to the tune of at least several thousand dollars, to change their nature but found it impossible. I'm an alcoholic. Indeed, and you will find both sides of that exemplified here in OPP. We have a lot of theory but very little common sense that comes from experience. We do, however, have some really neat people which gives me some hope for our (country's) future.

Sorry D but the border has not been secure since way before Barry moved in. A lot of Presidents and Congresses have allowed it for reasons known only to them. Pretty sad when 100 square miles of the Southern Arizona desert are fenced off & posted "no trespassing" because drug cartel lookouts are on every piece of high ground and will shoot anyone who threatens the movement of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, etc. that crosses the border there and spreads out to the rest of the country.
NPP, if the Bible works for you, hang onto it. I do not believe that God works the way the Bible says He does nor do I believe in sin. All of those are human constructs used by churches to keep their parishioners in line. I believe what it says on P. 133 of another book I read which is that "we believe that God wants us to be happy, joyous and free." On P. 132 it says, "We absolutely insist upon enjoying life." As I hear The Bible interpreted by all of you, that is the last thing that Biblical God wants.
We have a German couple in Bremerton who lived in Germany in 1932 and they tell us America looks and sounds just like it today. Scary!

Paul, I'm still big on "live & let live" and personal responsibility. I believe that homosexual people are who they are and they should just be accepted in every way as a part of the community they reside in. If they're engineers, musicians, janitors or company CEO's, that's them, period. I had a problem with a pushy guy at a tavern in downtown Bremerton once and no more appreciated being "hit on" by him than any woman is turned off by someone's attention that they don't want.
What I wish we could see is everyone just "getting along" as the philosopher Rodney King once said. But I see the recent attacks on Christian business owners as really counterproductive for that to happen. I agree if your business is to sell cake you should have to sell it to anyone who comes in to buy - or, designate your business as "Strictly Christian" and ONLY sell to Christians. Can't have it both ways in a true Democracy.
P.S. The minute The Bible comes into the discussion, the discussion is over as far as I'm concerned.

Paul, I'm usually with you because I believe homosexuality is not a "lifestyle choice" but rather something someone is born with. So, if you can't change it (and I've seen what a lot of people believe about THAT, too, and I don't believe that either) then you should be able to live with it peacefully and no one should discriminate or assault you for it in any way. I also believe, now, that homosexuals are their own worst enemies! The BS actions attacking bakeries, florists and wedding venues does nothing to further acceptance by anyone. All it does is tick people off. If you want to be accepted into a society the last thing you do is walk up & kick the Mayor in the balls! If what you posted above was the actual homosexual agenda there would be no problems with it anywhere by anybody but it is not.
