Also let us not forget this isn't the only war. We have one in Afghanistan. This is the war that Obama trotted around telling everyone how important it was. Well, Obama has already scheduled the Afghanistan surrender.

There are not too many Medals of Freedom being handed out. It is a very rare honor for those who make the very most positive contributions to the welfare of our country. It is the civilian equivalent of the military Medal of Honor. Do you think too many Medals of Honor are being “handed out.”

Tenet was responsible for obtaining accurate information. It was extremely important to get it right because the lives of 186,000 people depended on it. He was wrong and they died. That doesn’t sound like the kind of competency that would get you a wall plague or a certificate suitably for framing..

Everyone, other countries, Democrats, even I believed Bush’s misinformation. It seemed impossible that the greatest spy agency in history and in the world would not have accurate information on Iraq’s weaponry and it seemed in was unlikely that an American president could go to war on bogus information or that he would lie to his country and the world. The point is, everyone got their information from the same source: Tenet and Bush. Everyone trusted us and our president. Of course we all used the same information, it came from the same place and we trusted too much by everyone.

I do not long for Saddam’s leadership or George W. Bush’s “leadership, and I would be opposed to invading any of the other countries of whose leadership I do not approve.

My opinion is that Tenet was given the medal and other perks to keep him from blowing the whistle on Bush and cohorts and the real reasons for the invasion. However, you don’t sound like someone who can hear what is real and disregard the rest. However, I could be wrong about all of it.
There are not too many Medals of Freedom being ha... (show quote)
Seriously? Blow what whistle? What 'Real' reason? Revenge war for oil or something?

Let me get this right. Bush was the only person on the planet smart enough to figure out Saddam was hiding his lack of WMD's? The UN was fooled, Russia was fooled, The Euro-Countries were fooled, Bill and Hill were fooled, Kerry and Biden were fooled (OK, Biden doesn't prove much..), Ted Kennedy was fooled, Rockefeller was fooled. A whole pile of Democrats and Republicans were fooled... But Bush knew all along that Saddam had no WMD's... Really?

As for Tenet, his job was not to omnipotent. His job was to do his best. I would have held his Freedom medal along with most that have been tossed into the crowd since then, but I'd give it to him before Oprah.

And yes, I think they give out medals like souvenir ash trays now and it cheapens them.

As for the war, given the information at the time, it was the right call. And given the fact that the Democrats fell all over themselves to v**e for it, It was (unlike many current acts) bi-partisan.

I think the point is that, without exception, everyone and every source is biased. That included you and me. It is also a fact that we are not conscious of most of our biases.

Some, however, are paid to be biased in a particular direction. Democrats notice bias in Republican sources and Republicans notice bias in Democratic sources and neither notice it in their own sources. That is a very serious problem. However, these are my opinions and I could be wrong.

I think you made an attempt to insult me in your last sentence. Did you intend to insult me? What was your need that caused you to want to insult me?

I'm sorry. I thought my intent was obvious.

You made blanket claims about people using the same type of insulting rhetoric. I just thought that if you can pitch, you can also catch.

It was intended as tongue in cheek. I apologize for any personal offense you took.

Most news is biased,.....as long as you go in knowing that...it's okay by me....the only thing that's annoying about FOX is that they still call themselves " fair and balanced " that is a joke and an insult to everyone's intelligence...I would have more respect for them if they called themselves conservative TV...but I watch it often...I like to see what all sides say..

By the way, I was pleasantly surprised how megyn Kelly really gave a tough interview with Cheney...asked some tough questions...it was refreshing...I thought she deserved some praise for that

I agree it's not 100% unbiased. Nobody is. But there isn't a more fair news source on the tube.

Proud of what exactly? Did you cure a disease? Fight for cause? Help someone less able?

Having sex isn't much to be proud about.

I often listen to those with points of view different from mine and occasionally change my mind. However, Limbaugh, Fox, Hannity, Palin, et al are paid propagandists. I listen to them to find our what our real rulers want us to believe.

Who do you find to have accurate news?

BTW - Your masters thank you for your programmed response to Rush, Limbaugh, Fox and Palin.

I think the thing that stands out in my mind is that George Tenet, Bush's CIA director was the one person most responsible for the alleged misinformation about the weapons of mass destruction and was honored with the medal of Freedom by Bush. That medal is the highest civilian medal and honor for great service to America that we have. Why was Tenet awarded this honor since he was the one who got the intelligence completely wrong and caused us to invade Iraq on false intelligence?

I'm sure way too many medals of this kind are handed out, but Tenent didn't invent the intel. It's the same intel that the Democrats used to v**e to authorize 'use of force'. It's the same intel that the UN, our allies and others used to decide on WMDs in Iraq.

It's true that much of the intel was wrong. But it's also true that there was no way other than war to know that the intel was wrong.

I don't know if you are one of those that long for the days of Saddam's leadership.. But I'm not.

Yes of course. CNN reported that E-Mails get lost all the time. Computers crash often too. It was just something that happened and it's just part of dealing with computers. Nothing more.

Tell that to the IRS next time you are audited.

The unfortunate t***h is that we move on the information we have. It would be nice to have perfect information but that's not possible. All intelligent information suggested that Saddam had WMD. All of Obama's inner circle agreed with that. To ignore that would have been stupid.
