The NFL owners have to be the dumbest group of entrepreneurs on the planet. The marketing and public relations departments were out to lunch on this one. The NFL game plans everything but dropped the ball on standing for the National Anthem. They game plan how they negotiate everything from TV contracts to the beer commercials for the Super Bowl. They've lost a lot of viewers like myself. I had been a football fan for over 60 years, but last season didn't watch one game because of the attitude of the NFL owners - THE EMPLOYERS of the employees who were not standing for the National Anthem. Here's the game plan that should have been implemented.
1) A statement saying that it is the policy of the NFL to honor our country before every game by the playing and standing for the National Anthem. To not stand for the National Anthem therefore, disparages the NFL.
2) Every ONFIELD employee of the NFL is required to respectfully stand to honor our country for the playing of the National Anthem.
3) All employees (players) must be on the field for the National Anthem.
4) Any ONFIELD employee (players or anyone else associated with the smooth running of a games, such as referees, medical staff, etc.) not standing at attention (kneeling, squatting, etc., instead) will be fined $10,000 for the 1st offense. Suspension for one game each additional offense. All fines and lost salary will be donated to organizations that support first responder surviving families.
Wow! Wouldn't that be met by some really upset employees (players) and their union. Owners should take the attitude of - SO WHAT! WHO CARES! Owner’s should not be afraid of the employers taking them to court. Even if the courts rule AGAINST the employers (NFL owners), the public relations gleaned would be positive for the most part. It would essentially be out of the owner’s hands and in the players to assume all the negativity. As it stands now, it’s the NFL that’s constantly on the defense, which only leads to NEVER SOLVING THE ISSUE. Owners will always look the fools unless they take the bull by the horns and make it policy to stand for the National Anthem.
It just falls in line like every employer I’ve ever worked for. During my 20 years in the Navy I was required to wear a uniform. During my 20 years working for Fortune 50 Companies, I was required to wear a suit and tie (except Friday’s). It was policy for me to not disparage the Navy or the companies I was employed by. Not standing for the National Anthem disparages the NFL.

The new Secretary of State made a statement that America was the greatest civilization the world had ever seen, but I'm wondering - which America was he referring to?

Is it the America that wants to protect the unborn at all costs, or the one that wants to protect the right to own military weapons? I wonder, because a women can still get an a******n after jumping through a whole series of hoops - just like gun owners can get a Federal Firearms license and own as many military weapons as they wish - so - are the hoops to jump through to own military weapons just too many?

Maybe he meant the America that has the best medical care in the world, or did he mean the one where that care is only available to those that can afford it? Of course, he may have been referring to the America that believes that making a profit is preeminent, valued far above human life. That makes perfect sense - if the America he meant is the one where the poor and elderly are better off dead, better off for the rest that is.

Is it the America that believes America is only for Americans, or the one that wants to let everyone come here? Is it the one that believes that America has a right to tell everyone else what to do and how to do it, or the one that objects to being told what to do? Maybe he meant the America that believes that religious freedoms are absolute, or perhaps he meant the one that believes that only Christian religious freedoms are absolute?

It's hard to tell which America he referred to, as there are at least 300,000,000 opinions on the matter. Is it the Democrats America or the Republicans America? Is it the Liberals America or the Conservatives America, or the Progressives America, or the Evangelicals America......................or is it the America of all the above?

The sad fact is, as long as we continue to fight over WHO's America it is, rather than accepting that is ALL of ours...........we can NOT in fact...........claim to be the greatest civilization the world has ever seen...........unless we specify WHICH America we're referring to.
The new Secretary of State made a statement that A... (show quote)

You want to know WHICH America being referred to - Come on man, that's easy: THE ONE and ONLY America to refer to is the America that follows the rule of law - which should include ALL OF THE ABOVE. Now specific to "Is it the America that believes America is only for Americans" - Follow the rule of law and you don't have to be an American citizen. So if you are an i*****l a***n, you don't follow the rule of law; you are here illegally and therefore not only DO NOT follow the rule of law, DO NOT RESPECT THE RULE OF LAW of the United States of America. So, everyone here legally who fits into the categories described above is the America we refer to.

Why I Am No Longer A Conservative Republican

How did we arrive at the current situation?  James Madison in his speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 16, 1788 said, “There are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by the gradual and silent encroachment of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpation.”  We didn’t get here all in one jump.  First the camel said, “Can I just stick my nose in your tent to stay warm?” and finally the generous man found himself out in the cold as the camel settled down for a nice warm nap, one inch at a time.

Lately it seems like the only remaining difference between Liberals and the
Conservatives is that the Conservative female politicians are still the best lookin.

Your statement - If we want a different world we have to start at the only place we have the absolute sovereign ability to make a change, we must start with ourselves. - is exactly SPOT ON. However, it is a pipe dream. You know it, I know it, the looney lefty liberals know it, and so does everybody else - which includes all the members of The Senate and The House who are all beholding to or members of the Deep State/Swamp (whose primary members arguably are the Democrat Party and the Media which a list of them would be too long). Having said all that, there is a door open - actually a small crack - to "start with ourselves" with the grassroots effort to call for a Constitutional Convention which as of January 2016 needed only 7 more states to convene. I have no faith in that ever happening and if it did, the liberals with their ability to form a rock solid, loud, and immovable force will prevail in their usual manner.
I’ve v**ed with the GOP in every local and national e******n since I was first eligible in the 1968 p**********l e******n. The most noteworthy characteristic of Republican Party is that there are a number of divergent factions that are acknowledged and respected in the conservative landscape. It can also be a detriment as proven by the conflicts and the v****g record on controversial legislative issues by the GOPers since taking the majority in both chambers. Garnering "one voice" for the Republican Party is akin to herding cats. The opposition has learned how to herd cats superbly as all of them speak with the same monotone talking points right down to the period, comma, and question mark. While Republicans compromise within their own ranks as well as with the opposition, Democrats never heard of the word. While Republicans (for the most part) respect opinions/ideas of others, Democrats come out of the womb declaring never to show any respect for a Republican and always declaring them guilty of being a w***e s*********t, a misogynist and a r****t; and they are willing to shout their declarations from the roof tops. Lastly, while both sides never answer a question directly, always rephrasing the question to suite their individual needs, the Democrats use this tactic splendidly to get the last word in on a subject – the words everyone remembers. Overall, for most v**ers the Democrat Party appears to be more polished and organized which gets the immediate and positive attention of v**ers, while Republicans are always on the defensive and must “climb up a steep hill” to get the attention of v**ers.
People like us do not need to be convinced to “start with ourselves”. We already have the self-respect to be willing to respect others which leads to compromise and consensus. “Ourselves” as well Republican officials must become more dogged in our approach instead of letting the opposition always name the playing field and the rules of engagement. The opposition sees no need to respect others and their version of “start with ourselves” is the selfish “get what we can for ourselves” mentality.
In summary, it’s unfortunate that the good old days when politicians forgot partisanship and amiably reached across the aisle as a patriot to find the middle ground – on both sides - will never return. That's because the current brand of political leadership doesn’t have the necessary courage it takes to set aside self-interests interests for national concerns and needs. An argument can be made that a cure for that appears to be term limits, but pigs will fly before that ever passes into law.

It's finally soaking in. Trump is ruining the country, one appointment at a time.
He just appointed his private doctor to be VA secretary. I***t. Trump is too stupid to know he's stupid.

Actually, the man President Trump has appointed - which will need Senate approval - is not from the private sector. He is doctor, Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson, Unites States Navy. He was the personal physical of former President's Bush and Obama, and is now President Trumps personal physician.
I won't call you stupid for making an error. It's just normal behavior for a looney lefty liberal Trump h**er. Moreover, if you knew p**********l history, you'll note that all presidents have a turnorver in their cabinets during the first 12-18 months in office until they get the people in place they want. That is what leaders do - replace people who are ineffective or in this case, he abused the system as well as being ineffective. Look it up before criticizing (and name calling) to get ALL the facts. But that's not something looney lefty liberals know anything about - FACTS. Do ya feel it.
