The new Secretary of State made a statement that America was the greatest civilization the world had ever seen, but I'm wondering - which America was he referring to?

Is it the America that wants to protect the unborn at all costs, or the one that wants to protect the right to own military weapons? I wonder, because a women can still get an a******n after jumping through a whole series of hoops - just like gun owners can get a Federal Firearms license and own as many military weapons as they wish - so - are the hoops to jump through to own military weapons just too many?

Maybe he meant the America that has the best medical care in the world, or did he mean the one where that care is only available to those that can afford it? Of course, he may have been referring to the America that believes that making a profit is preeminent, valued far above human life. That makes perfect sense - if the America he meant is the one where the poor and elderly are better off dead, better off for the rest that is.

Is it the America that believes America is only for Americans, or the one that wants to let everyone come here? Is it the one that believes that America has a right to tell everyone else what to do and how to do it, or the one that objects to being told what to do? Maybe he meant the America that believes that religious freedoms are absolute, or perhaps he meant the one that believes that only Christian religious freedoms are absolute?

It's hard to tell which America he referred to, as there are at least 300,000,000 opinions on the matter. Is it the Democrats America or the Republicans America? Is it the Liberals America or the Conservatives America, or the Progressives America, or the Evangelicals America......................or is it the America of all the above?

The sad fact is, as long as we continue to fight over WHO's America it is, rather than accepting that is ALL of ours...........we can NOT in fact...........claim to be the greatest civilization the world has ever seen...........unless we specify WHICH America we're referring to.

Funny but in your comment, America of all of the above, every one of the people you speak of either carry a gun at all times or have armed security around them 24-7.
The People who are strongly pro life carry, or have guns close at hand because of the threats they receive because of their beliefs, and the endless hoops you speak of are meant to make it harder for common non carrying gun owners to protect themselves.
So I would have to say that the creation of our sovereign nation was enabled by the fact that without gun ownership America as we know it would not exist.

Give me one example of a military style weapon that a person can go into a Wal-Mart or any sporting good, gun show and buy right off the shelf. I know it is. Yes this is what tore this country apart, and will again. Are we ready ? I spent thirty-eight years serving this great nation. Been through two wars and missions all over the world. I want an America where there is freedom of opportunity and not "freedom of outcome." I want an America defined by one language, one culture and borders. I want an America where democracy is governed by a Republic. I want an America where the Republic legislates the "rule of law" concept that says you are innocent of a criminal action until proven to be guilty by way of concrete evidence and not merely intent. I want an America where the government is small and stays out of the marketplace, thereby letting competition rule. I want an America where the law will protect an unborn baby from being murdered upon the "altar of his/her mother's guilt-trip." I want an America where the law is on the side of America and the criminals who leak our secrets will suffer the consequences for their t*****rous activity.
