Commodities are a great way to hedge high-risk stocks. I'd stay away from energy (gas/petrol) and food (cattle, wheat, etc.) commodities in our current "Green" climate where those things are in flux right now. But metals are always fairly stable. Land is a good investment, too, as long as it is attractive and in a good location. But buying in real estate right now is not a good idea. Everything is way too high....both buying and selling.

Very very true! We need another Regan...we are in a very similar situation now that we were in then when he pulled our country out of the gutter! And the ONLY one around who is anything like Regan to do that is Trump. Everyone else are up to their noses in politics and/or using all their time and energy on "getting" Trump or trying to stop the Dems from "getting" him!

That's the thing about gambling - and it IS gambling - you win some you lose some. If I were going to gamble with my money, the last place I would do that would be in stocks! It would be in real estate. Especially land.

An "all time high" does not necessarily reflect a soaring economy! Especially during an inflation! It is a false high, and investments can reverse in a New York minute! Anyone who gives advice on the stock market during an inflation is out of their minds, imo! It is a very complicated situation, and dangerous to the whole portfolio.... unless you are really REALLY in tune with the undercurrent of the markets!!

While some corporations can react to inflation by raising their prices, others who compete in a global market may find it difficult to stay competitive with foreign producers that don't have to raise prices (or raise prices enough) due to inflation.

More importantly, inflation robs investors (and everyone else) by raising prices with no corresponding increase in the value of the product. You pay more for less. A company's financials are overstated by inflation, because the numbers (revenue and earnings) rise with the rate of inflation, in addition to any added value generated by the company.

When inflation declines, so do the inflated earnings and revenues. If you have a substantial portion of your portfolio in fixed income securities, you should definitely be concerned about your investments and inflation...especially if inflation starts to decline! And DO NOT rely on the media to tell you when that is! They will tell you whenever the government wants them to tell you that inflation is over...and this administration's government lies!

I would not be telling anyone their investments are fine because the stock market is high if I were you...you would be setting them up for failure unless they really know what they are doing, and have a keen sense of when to sell....unless you are Nancy Pelosi an have insider information on when that is.....
