No, Vietnam was no threat BUT neither were those of us who survived to come home to being spit on, called baby k**lers and refused jobs just because we served when our country called us. Now many of us are still suffering from what our own government did to us. Maybe, just maybe if you walked in our boots you might understand, saying no disrespect intended doesn't work.
You are so fortunate to never have had issues put you and your family in financial distress. You get sick and wind up in the hospital for a few weeks, your partner/spouse winds up sick at the same time and they wind up in the hospital. You now have massive medical bills a drained bank account and are unable to work for a few weeks. Go ahead, be someone who has no compassion for another human being who through no fault of their own has major issues to deal with. This is suppose to be a 'Christian' nation but for some reason many do not act like it!
Personally, I think you are wrong about this. Why do we have over $31 trillion in debt? In 22 years our debt has gone from a little over $5 trillion to over $31 trillion, please explain how 'responsible' career politicians who claim to care about the people can run such huge deficits every year? That, is the real disaster and in the near future that debt will be unaffordable!!!!

It is so amazing there are so many people with closed minds. You accuse repubs of holding hostage while your beloved dems refuse to negotiate, saying you will only approve straight raise of the ceiling. Ever think how we got here? BOTH PARTIES have over spent and over spent for years, congress refuses to pass a balanced budget amendment because that would cause them to not over spend. At some point the payments on the debt will be more than the nation can pay if this continues. Put a balanced budget amendment in, stop sending money to foreign countries that never gets to the people it is supposed to help. Take congress health care away and let them have the same as people on medicare. Take away their pension, make them pay into social security and that is their retirement (see how fast those programs get fixed). Historically dems don't negotiate in good faith, do this and we'll do this. Well, in my experience repubs say okay but the dems never do what they promised not to mention they don't negotiate, it's their way or no way!
