The pity here is that too many people buy into the spin and never take the time to actually look into these wild claims.

What he is actually saying "we are still heading down the road to run....but thanks to me, it will take just a little longer to get there".

That just isn't good enough for me. I expect more.

It's too late to point fingers. Heck, I can't even lift the scoresheet.

We need an entire new crew in Washington. The GOP won the house last time and can't even manage to use what power they do have now. The Dems think spending is the way out of debt and much of the spending is earmarked "ludicrous".

A new team could not do worse....and may be trainable in the process.

Bottom line: The administration is puffy chested about overspending less recently.

For every $100 they had spent $110. Now they spend $107 and they are proud of that.

I can't run my house that way. Can you?

Cut and paste from http://www.patheos.com/blogs/mariadixonhall/2013/06/saying-grace-paula-deen-progressives-and-race/

When it comes to discussing race, progressives have little tolerance for intolerance–past or present. We throw labels around as easily as the Pharisees threw stones at adulterous women. How dare someone not have OUR enlightened view on the world! How dare they not have been born with the innate view of justice, righteousness, and soul that we have!

So when Paula Deen’s transcript was leaked to the press last week, the script was already in place. The media would report that she used the “N” word–everybody would gasp–then the outrage would begin. She would be crucified by the New York Times, Facebook pundits, and of course, her fellow chefs. She would be tried by the court of public opinion who would judge her entire life’s work and character by the use of the “N” word in a private conversation. R****T! we would yell. She would cry. Her business would be destroyed and progressives would declare victory.

Yet, here is the reality: Deen told the t***h about her past. Knowing everything: her empire, her contracts, and sponsorships were at stake–she told the t***h. She was more honest under oath than at least 3 US Presidents, several dozen Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, and Non-Denominational preachers and countless business leaders. Unlike the Pope, Joe Paterno, or Donald Trump, she acknowledged she hadn’t always gotten it right but that she and her company was committed to doing it better and were doing better.

Let’s get this straight. I am not condoning anyone calling me or anyone who looks like me by any racial slur. But neither am I going to k**l someone’s career because they admit that they have in anger, fear, or IN THE PAST have used one. Here it is in a nutshell–Paula Deen has used the N word. She has either told or listened to racial jokes. She has probably said stuff and joked about stuff that went over the line. So here is the dilemma my oh so righteous progressive friends–any one who hasn’t–please step right up and throw the first stone. But before you reach down to pick it up, you better check YouTube; your best friend’s IPHONE; your high school squeeze’s slam book; or your grandma’s video tapes before you do.

Progressives Christians love to talk about grace except when they have to extend it to someone who has offended their political reality. The grace that we proclaim that washes us clean and entitled us to a new life is for everybody as long as they have not offended our politics. A cursory look at the progressive schizophrenic (and hypocritical) view of who deserves grace bears this out. Anthony Weiner shows his weiner to someone other than his wife–Grace abounds. My beloved Bill Clinton gets a handy j in the oval office–Grace abounds. Barney Frank shacks up with a male prostitute–Grace Abounds. President Obama–doesn’t close Gitmo; listens to our conversations; and uses drones to k**l civilians–Grace Abounds. A woman uses the N word AND admits it knowing that a great portion of her clientele is African American (I’d say Paula probably has used it more than that)–our verdict: Off with her head, her show, and her ham.

You know......it's refreshing to see a couple of people who call it like they see it instead of blindly preaching party mantra.

Both sides have valid points....and both sides have liars that take away the impact of the t***h speakers.

In college we used a "scantron" form for opinion polls. The middle slot of 7 was considered to be the norm. Anything more than one standard deviation from the norm was considered to be extreme so the 1, 2, 6, & 7 slots were considered to be lies or over reaction.

That's what we see here too often.

As I said, it's good to see a couple of level headed people in a discussion without all the filth and personal attacks.

Thanks both of you..

Around 2000 I pulled into the drive through of an A & W stand in western WI. I told the college age young man at the window that I wanted a quart of diet. He told me they didn't have quarts. I asked him how large their largest cup was. He said "32 ounces". I said "OK, I'll have that then". I askedbmy wife uf that really had just happened. She said "you would really be entertained at the check out at Walmart". True story. And this 20 year old is now 34 and probably has been a politician for 10 years. Excellent. Very well said.

I know that there are legitimate reasons for an a******n, but those are few. The last statistic I saw said 50 million babues have been aborted over the past 100 years and most of those during the past 50.

That seems an incredible number and I wish I could relocate that article so if anyone has the correct numbet please provide it here.

However, the point is that how are we to know who would be smong those aborted. Perhaps one who discovers the cure for cancer or other disease(s). Perhaps a leader who can bring this, or some other country out if difficulty...perhaps war.

To justify a******n to prevent someone from suffering a possible life of hardship....to me seems a drastic and unacceptable solution.

Ectrapolatoon of that philosophy could lead to a time in the not too distant future when DNA research could leadnto accurate analysis if which fetusvwill be born with what defect. And then, who decides which defectnis on the list of those to be terminated?

Mental illness? High probability of developing cancer? Diabetis? Heart fisease? Then what? Where is the line drawn? Too tall? Too fat? Too ???

I don't have a clue regarding population control in other countries. I don't live in those societies so my suggestions at best would be inappropriate.

I've been around for nearly 70 years and I can tell you 3 of the most glaring differences betweent the '50s/'60s and today.

Back then there existed a "national" sense of p***e, in onedelf as well as in our country. There existed a sense of "worth" in that welfare was a personal embarrassment and one would rather earn their way instead of having it handed to them. There also existed a powerful work ethic in that now matter the job, it was done right and as well as posdible...and to do less or to slsvk off was an embarrassment.

I guess in retrospect, zI would add a sense of "embarrassment" as a 4th difference betwern then and now.

I'm not sure how these changes I perceive have directly impacted population here but I believe that they are pathonuemonic of a major shift in societal attitude from "earn, work, respect, and be respected" to one of "personal gratification first by any means".

Perhaps plsnned families have been replaced by accidental offspring. Less responsibilites being attached to the latter.

I will say that all the talk about destroying this planet is wasted rhetoric. Geologically speaking, mankind is a failing moment in earth's history. If ee do manage to threaten our world realistically, the earth will simply shtug us off and continue to change. It is humanity that us being threatened, not this planet. We are the t***sient life form here. The dinosaurs were much more successful than we are and we will have to remain here for tens of millions of years to rival theur sucess.

I have been following this thread and I find it interesting however,

B****sheep: You say we need to reduce our population AND limit birth rate. You do not say ...reduce our population BY REDUCING birth rate.

If reducing birth rate (which I absolutely agree with) is not your strategy for reducing our population, ........ what is your answer to reducing current population?

And since China, India, etc are far more oner populated than we here withn the U. S. how do you propose to deal with them?

As I grew, I had out grown him by age 12. I still listened. By the time I was 20 I was 6'6 & 1/2, 375 lbs, and was a competitive powerlifter. I still listened. I respected him and followed his lead although physically I could toss him across the street.

I think today, too few people respect. Anything!

My dad used to tell me 2 things nearly every day.
1. No matter how bad you think you have it....LOTS of people have ur worse.
2. Develop your mind because as long as you are willing to be a forklift, there are employeers who will exploit it.

Workin man:

It seems to me that this nation won its independence in large part because everyone owned or had access to a gun. No matter where the redcoats went they were faced by armed citizens.

The founding fathers saw the wisdom in keeping the population armed so that, if the government failed in its duty to protect, the population would be the last, and most likely, unconquerable line of defense. Bo apparently is one of those who looks superficially into matters.

I believe there are a very few camps which such agitators fall into.

1. Those who believe in what they say.
2. Those who serve their own interests at other's expense.
3. Those who are so unhappy with their own lives that they agitate fir their own amusement.
4. Those who find fault in everything.
5. Those who react without thinking through and examining all sides of a given issue before speaking.

If those I have listed, I find that #s 3 & 4 most frequently resort to attack and vulgarity.....primarily because they aren't equipped to be in 1. 2. or 5.

Where would you place Bo?
