Point taken….but Floyd was a bouncer...former inmate, football player...there may have been some intimidation...a 6'6" over 300 pound tank charging at you could give rise to some apprehension and once upper ground was gained, I can see why the officer wanted to maintain the upper-hand. His alternative would have been to tazze...but, Floyd had already expressed a need for a physician...tazze him would not be an option.....letting him up and possibly having to tackle him again....not an option....possible medical condition. So, put yourself in the officer's shoes....WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?

Yes, that is why he was being DETAINED. The officer restrained him....why he died has not been determined, you and others are speculating.

You seem to be overly emotional about Floyd, does his situation churn up a personal experience?

Like I said he was convicted criminal who wanted to change his life around , but was denied!

Three years is long enough to get a BS....He had 5 years in jail with free college courses and an additional four years after he got out of prison. How much longer do you think he needed?

Why is it so hard for you to believe that there are bad cops out there and that he is one of them!!

I am waiting for two thing, autopsy and formal investigation. In the USA, we consider everyone innocent until PROVEN guilty. It does not matter their profession. And Floyd WAS a CONVICTED criminal!

You bet wrong ! ! But here's more about your hero Derek Chauvin

https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/28/us/minneapolis-officer-complaints-george-floyd/index.html

Your sources just keep getting better...proving my points, thank you!!!Keep them coming!!! "It's unclear what the internal affairs complaints against the officer, Derek Chauvin, were for. MPD did not provide additional details." Last quarter, Minneapolis has almost 2,000 officer complaints. If you do the average, one reprimand in 18 years is a damn good record!!!

And your source is the Liberal news site...CNN!

Black people are strutting back and forth waving camera phones in the faces of law enforcement who weren't even present during or responsible during Floyd's murder.

And there are creepy white people who look like Fringe lunatics fronting and making gestures and menacing the national guard.

What's that got to do with Floyd murder?

Why don't they just wait for the investigation!

They say hundreds of businesses were l**ted. Oh that's Intelligent.

All that's missing is a Prince music video of the violence.

"When Doves Cry....

....

"Why do we scream at other..."

I'm sorry to say the scenes of opportunistic l**ting and people getting off on menacing officers is making me less sympathetic.

The first night of the l**ting I saw a guy in the Target, running toward the camera. He was l**ting and didn't have a mask on. He was stealing... A king set of SHEETs.

That's a dark joke innit?

Maybe that cop had had too much up-against-it time on the job with ungrateful felons waving "don't shoot" in front of him.

I'm not in sympathy with the murderous basterd. But the mob has furnished him with a viable court strategy for the defense.

"Look your honor. This is what can happen at any moment. Is it any wonder I cracked under pressure, ?"

all this rebellious and cusp-of-violence feeling is what fed into that. They shredded the police station. That is just making a defense attorney's job sooooo much easier.

Maybe some portion of the thug threat played In to the cop's attitude. (I would have never thot that before but after seeing people were wrecking their own cimmunity...

And that Minneapolis mayor is weak. He should have called in the natl guard the minute they saw that video. Spinning it on Trump is ridiculous.

And when the MN governor will ask for emergency disaster money for all the ruined businesses OUR tax money will pay for this glut of opportunistic zeal.

Maybe experience with thugz like these amped the cop up too much and created an overk**l mentality.

People watching him, cameras made him hyper aware... Him and those other guys were getting nervous...

The whole thing is overk**l.
( With respect no pun intended)
I am watching live on Fox the line of National Gua... (show quote)

Good post.... did you know that Floyd was 6'6", a bouncer for a club, former tight end … high school and college? Did you know that his last prison term was 5 years (plea deal) for armed robbery, assault, and home invasion? Can we guess why the officer, under 6'0" and a feather weight compared to the mammoth Floyd, felt a need to restrain Floyd?

Floyd was a bouncer, meaning he must have been muscular and able to hold his own in a fist to fist. Floyd was 6'6", much taller than the "demon officer." And yet some ask why he was being held down....Played "tight end" meaning he had to have developed massive neck muscles. Played college football...even better. He "towered" over other players!

A pillar of the community! Who just happened to pass counterfeit bill....

So there we have it! On one side we have a huge muscular former football player and a bouncer who did time for armed robbery and home invasion. On the other hand we have a beat cop, called to do his job. A regular, decorated cop, barely 6' tall at 180 pounds....David met Goliath! Problem, Goliath died and David's life is ruined! This should brighten your day....the officer has been arrested.

This tale just keeps getting better!

Violence and destruction of property is NOT a protest. It is criminal; opportunistic crime, nothing more!

Someone needs to explain that to the media, the other grossly stupid part of this equation.

We have photos of many of these people, why don't we arrest them and have them make restitution? Give them a shovel to clean up, if they are penniless. Otherwise prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law!!! I support peaceful assembly, but burning, l**ting, destruction of property and assaulting people is criminal. Why should we pay to rebuild their cities?

So Floyd was not angel ,but he was trying to change his life around...

How do you know this? By changing his life he went from perhaps selling drugs, mugging, robbery to passing counterfeit money? I can only guess because NO ONE IS running stories on his past. And what a shock, my friends at our police station tells me his criminal record is blocked and even they can not access his records. Is that the changes you had in mind?

So, here we have it....a complete campaign to demonize a police officer and a total blackout on the potential criminal past of Floyd. The records would not be "locked down" unless there is a tainted past. So....how do you know he was changing his life, did he wake up on the day he died and decided he would cash in all his counterfeit money--the last criminal act, and then find Jesus, be absolved of all his sins, and change his ways? Did he leave a letter for you to read? What evidence do you have? Just asking.

The officer had complaints....and if you followed the links, he was absolved of all wrong doing and in ONE case, as a rookie, he was reprimanded. His record is posted by all the media...but Floyd, CRICKETS! And now you claim a deep insight into Floyd's good intentions.

I agree he should have been fired before this but we can’t suspend due process. If we do then that sets a dangerous precedent. We can’t let emotion rule.

The officer in question WAS CLEARED of all complaints, except one where he received a letter of reprimand several years ago while he was a rookie. BTW, he also received a medal of valor....but, that will not be mentioned.

His civil rights were suspended days ago.....

It's more than this video . .. This cop had 18 complaints against him...This was the last straw that broke the camel's back!! He should of been fired after the 1 st complaint , than maybe this poor man would of been alive today . ...

What about Floyd's history? Was he a "first time offender?" Why is the media silent on his past encounters with the law?

Second question....can you provide a source for the nature and disposition of the "18" complaints?

Observation: If an officer is only a uniform mannequin, does not enforce laws.....that officer will have few or no formal complaints. If an officer is "active" and does the job, that officer will have complaints.

You may want to dig into the history of this officer. Start here https://wikibious.com/derek-chauvin/ and here http://www.minneapolismn.gov/civilrights/policereview/archive/index.htm
