American Sniper is hands down, the best movie I've seen in years. I plan on seeing it again.

That is the only movie I watched in the Theaters since 2008. I really liked it.

But 1 part of it really bothered me and I wanted to ask what everyone thought of that part if you remember it.

It was a scene in the kitchen where Kyle picked up a single action (cowboy type) pistol and play acted shooting with it like it a was toy while walking toward the wife and kids with the thing pointed at them.

I cringed.

Now I assume this was "Hollywood" because a veteran and person who was raised around firearms would never do that. We don't "sweep" people we don't intend to shoot with a firearm even if it's unloaded. It's just bad firearms handling.

I know its just a movie but it really bothered me.

Other than that it was an outstanding movie.

Very strange scene indeed....i find it implausible that Chris Kyle would practice such a blatant disregard of proper firearms handling. I 'bout fell outta my chair!!!

I think that particular scene was to show the PTSD he was experiencing and suffering from.

After more thought, i believe your synopsis is correct, no other reason for Eastwood to put that scene in.

Are we just recognizing PTSD after WWI, WWII, the Koran War, Viet Nam wars or conflicts or is this some kind medical hoax. I remember WWII vets talking about the war when I was a kid but I never had those type of dreams or thoughts.

Didn't know he had PTSD, thought it was the guy who shot him.

It was in all those wars but was known by different names. Battle fatigue and shell shock, to name a couple.
