Actually, neither of you did your due diligence.

If you want to stay on topic, i actually provided information of the topic of the Surgeon General...not extraneous commentary.

Below is the commentary.

We wouldn't need an Ebola czar if Paul would allow the vote, the Ebola czar is just another example of the president being forced by obstructionist republicans to use his administrative perogative to run the government while they work to destroy our country.

The simple fact is the person you would have as Surgeon General only completed his residency in 2006, has [b]very[/] little hands on medical experience, spent most of his time organizing Physcians For Obama, and, though not disqualifying, is not a U.S. Citizen. He has zero background in the public health sector or management in public health sector care. You need to understand what the Surgeon General does and it has little to nothing to do with infectious diseases, directly. You only need to look at the rank and education of the Acting Surgeon General to know Dr. Murthy is a junior league rookie.

About the Office of the Surgeon General

As the Nation’s Doctor, the Surgeon General provides Americans with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and reduce the risk of illness and injury. In 2010, the Affordable Care Act designated the Surgeon General as the Chair of the newly formed National Prevention Council, which provides coordination and leadership among 20 executive departments with respect to prevention, wellness, and health promotion activities.

The Surgeon General oversees the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS), an elite group of more than 6,800 uniformed officer public health professionals working throughout the Federal government whose mission is to protect, promote, and advance the health of our Nation. Additionally, the Office of the Surgeon General is the headquarters for the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps, a national network of more than 200,000 volunteers committed to improving the public health, emergency response, and resiliency of their communities.

The Surgeon General is nominated by the President of the United States with advice and consent of the United States Senate for a four-year term of office. The Office of the Surgeon General is part of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Rear Admiral Boris D. Lushniak, MD, MPH serves as Acting Surgeon General, and Rear Admiral Scott F. Giberson, BSPharm, MPH serves as Acting Deputy Surgeon General.
Thanks for researching. Why does the house keep passing asinine bills and sending them to the Senate when there is no way in hell they will pass the Senate? Boner et al knows it. They want to create the illusion that Reid is the obstructionist. They want everything to tank during Obama's term. This is quite obvious to anyone that isn't a moron.

If I am not mistaken, this thread was an asinine comment that Rand Paul was somehow magically single-handedly stopping the appointment of a Surgeon General. The notion that a junior Senator in the minority party, or any single Senator from either party, for that matter, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HARRY REID, can hold up Senate proceedings is ludicrous, as is Kevyn's claim that "any Senator can put legislation on hold." Yes, any Senator can, but with the exception of the Majority Leader, not one of them can make it stick single-handedly. There is a mechanism for moving things along, called cloture, which Reid has invoked time after time for legislation he or his puppeteer, Barack Obama, did not like. Simple up or down vote, to neutralize the hold and get on with it. If Reid, who has done this so many times before, wanted to stop Senator Paul's hold, he could have done so at any time. It was politically expedient to let it continue to further Obama's agenda. Next time Kevyn claims to have researched something, remember that his research and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee in many restaurants.

This Surgeon General candidate has the only qualifications Obama cares about: He is in agreement with and will willingly implement Obama's agenda, and is virulently against firearms ownership.

A year ago President Obama nominated Dr. Vivek Murthy to be our Surgeon General. Dr. Murthy is highly qualified as a medical doctor who also holds an MBA teaches at the Harvard Medical School and has done extensive research on and is partners in a company that increases efficiency and safety in bringing biotechnology and new drugs to market to treat disease and care for patients. He could be no better qualified to address the Ebola problem. Unfortunatly tea bagging Senator Rand Paul has for purely political reasons put a hold on a confirmation vote on Dr. Murthys nomination effectively preventing him from serving to protect the US and humanity from Ebola. Dr. Murthy would win easy approval in the Senate if Paul would lift his hold and serve our country for once instead of his rigid and failed ideology.

Why the NRA Is Blocking Obama’s Surgeon General Nominee
March 23, 2014 by Zoë Carpenter
"This post originally appeared at The Nation.
The post of the surgeon general has been vacant since July and it looks likely to remain that way for some time thanks to a strident campaign led by the National Rifle Association and libertarian Senator Rand Paul against President Obama’s nominee, Dr. Vivek Murthy....

This isn’t the first time the NRA has held up a nominee: the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives went without a director for seven years because of opposition from the gun lobby. But never before has the group set itself so strongly against a surgeon general nominee. So why now? The NRA said Murthy’s 'blatant activism on behalf of gun control' attracted their attention."

This physician is of Indian heritage and a former citizen of Great Britain, which bans all gun ownership and has a national heath care system.

Rand Paul certainly was not the only senator opposing his nomination. The Second Amendment is absolutely necessary to protect us from enemies at home and abroad. Is this what you object to?

Instead, our President is sending our National Guard to AFRICA while abandoning defense of our own borders at home.

It is written in our Constitution that we have the right to form armed militias for self protection. I think your claims that Dr. Vivek Murthy would save us from Ebola are completely unfounded.

Most likely the tobacco industry will come to the rescue with a new vaccine for Ebola, another industry Dr. Vivek Murthy opposes.

Simple. Within two weeks, we may send Harry Reid packing and then the House bills will be passed in the Senate.

According to your criteria, do you think Arkansas governor Kathleen Sibelius would have solved the Ebola challenge as Secretary of HHS any better had she remained in office?

I'm gussing his answer would be "yes", because it appears that his only criterion is that Obama desires it.

I do not like to quibble; however, the statement Dr. Murthy is a "former citizen of Great Britain" may be misleading. Nowhere is there any evidence he has become a naturalized U.S. citizen.

I guess the House should just give up representing their constituents, if a bill doesn't fit into Obama's radical, fundamental transformation of this country, Representatives should just give up and go home. Of course Reid is an obstructionist, and Americans got sick and tired of Obama's extremist agenda and sent people to Washington to oppose it
