Because as we speak there are at minimum 195millions guns in the hands of American Citizens . To date there has been no threat t remove them .
Rumors and wild claims like yours are the reason ammo flew off the shelves TWICE in the past 5 years , out of sheer unfounded paranoia .
Universal background checks are common sense , I see no threat to the 2nd amendment there . As for hi-capacity clips , this is no new legislation , and it doesn't threaten second Amendment rights .

Maybe I am dense or a wishful thinker but I have re-read this Treaty 3xs and find nothing that even hints at what you say, banjojack. The dire warnings by conservatives about other UN treaties we agreed to never came to pass. Santorum has been quite vocal in damning this treaty and the previous one that was simply copying our evolved standards for the handicapped. Either he is the most duplicitous person on the planet or scarily dumb.

Why should we get involved in a treaty with the UN? this worthless POS organization is supposed to be a police organization for all it's members but in reality is nothing more than socially controlling these members.

Check and see how many member countries have committed genocide against it's people while the UN stood by and did not do a damned thing. Is this an organization we want to grant any type of partnership with? What I can't agree with is getting involved with any worthless world organization that has been proven to be nothing but a corrupt cesspool.

Just a point of information . When you buy a gun in Florida it is a 3-4 day process , they check you for any outstanding warrants , probation or felony convictions . Whereas the universal background check is more involved and any arrest in your lifetime assuming you were put on record and fingerprinted, regardless of acquittal or conviction ,will show up when you apply for a CCW .That may take up to 60 days . If you've been convicted of a violent crime , chances are you wont get licensed , and that includes domestic violence .
However once you get your CCW , a simple cursory check for warrants or convictions is performed taking about 20 minutes , and you can take whatever firearm you purchased home that day .

A few years ago Dianne Feinstein authored a bill that would have taken a large percentage of our guns, but was beat by a narrow margin in the senate. After the vote, she is on record as saying that if she had had the vote, she would have said ,"Mr. and Mrs. gun owner, turn all in.

Now does that sound like we have nothing to worry about?

It's not about guns, it's about control, from birth to death.

The debate over gun control may soon be a mute point. Obama has two Executive Orders he will sign within the next 10 days addressing gun control. Biden made the announcement on 29 Aug. I can not locate, yet, a copy of the EO. Right now people are saying that import of weapons only pertain to antiques. But, you know as well as I that hidden within EOs are measures that expand control.

I can agree with you on that Carolyn , that is your opinion .And if indeed THAT is the reason that you oppose this resolution , which most likely won't get passed anyway as far as the US is concerned , THEN GIVE THAT AS YOUR DAMN REASON INSTEAD OF CREATING A BULLSHIT STORY , OR SPOUTING A BULLSHIT STORY THAT IT THREATENS OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT -READ THE DAMN THING.

Lou, I have been trying to get a copy of this, can you give me a link to the UN resolution (proposal). All the places I search are biased (on either direction) and I would like to read it for myself. Many thanks

And how many of the 100 permit holders were on the list that committed these violent crimes while standing their ground? There have been many cases that the government has added them to their lists, when in fact they are exempt. That is the whole concept of carrying concealed. If someone comes up to you and tries to take your wallet by force, or threatens you or your family, then you blow his arse away. PERIOD!

I would have to guess 99, or maybe even 100. Because if you are going to commit a crime, would you have a permit to do it.
