You are so full of baloney it is an exercise in futility to even try debating with you. Poor indoctrinated lemming. If you weren't so ignorant I could possibly feel sorry for you.

You may well be right, but we have a problem: you need evidence for your charges. Saying everyone knows this is true and showing it as proof are two different things. If Obama stole the election as you state, then demonstrate how with proof. If you cannot prove it, then it is just malicious gossip and useless.

OG, in all your posts you never offer any supporting evidence to your view or opposing argument against what is stated. You just insult and attack. Do you know the definition of "troll"?

If 'proof' of voter fraud were known Obola would have never been elected. The fraud is well hidden. It is just lemmings such as you that keep their head in the sand and refuse to believe their messiah could/would do anything illegal.

If it were possible for proof to have been found, the GOPTP would have discovered it by now. What with the Koch money behind it, it would have been a shoe-in.

How such an intelligent woman can be a far left progressive is really astounding.

No, the truth of the Right wing intent to limit our democracy by limiting the ability to vote for who you wish is clearly stated in the PA legislature and duly recorded.

Limit democracy? I sure hope so. Democracy is mob rule. America is a Republic - Rule of Law. Folks talk about democracy a lot and love throwing that word around when they don't even know what they're talking about. Same goes for politicians who don't know the difference and refer to the US as a democracy. Not knowing the difference makes them unfit for public service. Again, America is a Republic Rule of Law.

What's funny is the ones who you say would be limited in voting if voter ID was the law of the land, are the very ones with big screen TVs in their living rooms. Even if ID cost $20 believe me when I say they can afford it.

[quote=rumitoid]We heard the clear voice for the Republican legislature of PA in 2012 that their newly created voter restrictions would help Romney win the presidential election: is there any doubt of intent for all these republican backed voter restrictions? Look at what happened in Texas and Wisconsin. As Americans, as patriots, we should be opening doors to the vote, not looking for any way to shut them. Seriously. Think about it. Limiting the days and hours of early voting. Ending same day registration. Curtailing voting places and hours on the day of election. Demanding specific types of ID to vote. Making it law but hardly making an effort to inform the public that a copy of ID must accompany an absentee ballot. Ending Sunday voting. The demographics of these very precise limitations all target those who fit Democratic voter patterns. Coincidence, I am sure. But let's get freakin' honest. Call yourselves patriots and look to limit the opportunity to vote? You "patriots" should be demanding greater access and openness in this basic to democracy practice.

It is absutely an inconvenience to show my ID and schedule time in April to pay my taxes. Taxes should not have a deadline I should be able to file them whenever I want. And why do they need all the identification on me to file? How discriminatory! It's a free country everyone should be able to pay their taxes without any hassle whatsoever. After all, if I can just walk in to vote I should be able to just walk in and hand over cash for my tax bill too.

Out here in the boonies, where the polling place is miles away, we all get together and use one car for 6 people to get to the polling place to vote. If need be we would use the same technique to get photo IDs for everyone.

Not one state charges for ID's if an ID is required to vote. Not one.

Correct. Charging for ID would be a poll tax.

I amended my statement above. It was just a tad redundant... there's no charge for anything that's free. :P

The title of this thread is, "I don't get it:: why limit the opportunity to vote?"

It's really a sad commentary on the average intelligence in this country when somebody can ask such a dumb question and nobody calls them out on it.

The answer to your question is so simple and straightforward that even a young child can understand.

In order for an election to be fair, every eligible citizen must be able to vote one time and only one time. So, to maintain the integrity of any election, it is imperative that the opportunity to vote be limited to one time per voter.

Allowing some to vote multiple times is almost the same as restricting others from voting at all, except those being restricted don't know about it.

And for those who claim there is no voter fraud I have two words: Al Franken.
