You will find we can sometimes go off the rails.
As a very quick substitute for green beans with ham, you can buy a medium size can of green beans. Fry two or three slices of smoked bacon partially, add the beans and cook at a medium boil for about thirty minutes. Be careful not to let the liquid get too low. Certainly not the same as with ham; however, can squelch the green bean/ham yearning.
