So many preserves and so little biscuits.

I forgot to ask. Are you using green or white limas for your stew?

I lean towards biscuits myself although it depends on the combinations.

Biscuits is good with...
Molasses
Homemade preservatives (peach, strawberry and apple)
Fried Porkchop, mashed potatoes and gravy with black eye peas. (Don't ask why it goes good with that kind of meal)

Cornbread is good with...
Collard Greens
Stew beef or any type of stew especially lima bean stew with chunks of ham... (take a nice slab of cornbread and break it up into a bowl and mix it all up...mmm. Very good to have for supper on a cool Fall evening)

I'm hungry now.

You ARE a southern boy, aren't you? My favorite meal was always the navy bean/hamhocks soup and cornbread. Stew usually has veggies in it, and mom never added anything to the beans except the ham. I would eat it until mother said I had enough. It was the only thing she ever had to stop me from eating. Daddy always put ketchup in it...but I never saw the need for it. Of course, he put ketchup on almost everything except chicken! I learned some strange habits from him...I even liked ketchup or Miracle Whip sandwiches. MUST be MW, plain mayo just wasn't tasty enough for me.

For years my spouse put ketchup on everything including mashed potatoes.

I am a MW person. If I am having company, Duke's mayonnaise tastes very similar to MW. As an odd factoid, Duke's mayonnaise is the only sugar free mayonnaise and recommended for diabetics.

It is so difficult for diabetics to find pre made tastee condiments. Hopefully it will be available.

As tomorrow/today is set to be quite busy, I need to rest now.

Good posting with you.

Be well.

Southerner through and through. You mentioning Miracle Whip is blasphemy! There is only one mayo and that's Dukes Mayo, son!

And to answer AuntiE I mostly use white lima beans with ham in stew.

Just until a year ago, I could not obtain Duke's where I currently reside. I abhor Hellmans. Miracle Whip has a little of the Duke's taste.

I wouldn't use Helmans even if it was the last mayo on the planet.

I can at least allow MW in some strenous circumstances such as that one trip to Washington state. Those West Coasters don't have any good stuff over there. Hell they don't even put sugar in their friggin' tea!

Something just ain't right about em'.

AuntiE, guess what I found this afternoon in the commissary, it's called pappy's sassafras concentrate it says to add two tablespoons to a cup of hot water I haven't tried it yet so don't know how it tastes but since I haven't had any in fifty years it probably won't matter. it's bottled by H&K products Columbus Grove Ohio

Let me know. When I was doing research, I saw Walmart may carry the same thing. I have not checked with Whole Foods or our organic market named MOM, My Organic Market.
