Thanks grammy! I am a proud Texan, and always will be. We live in the same state, but are two worlds apart. It's at least a 12 hour, hard drive from me to you. Maybe more. I know I can make from here to Houston in 11 if I push it. It's a big place, this wonderful Country we call Texas.
We say Yes Sir, Yes Ma'am, we hold the door for the person in front of, or behind us, help our neighbors, and defend our children, and families like a mama grizzly.
I know people of all stripes, and, I feel like it's a damn shame what's happening to our country.
Thanks grammy! img src="https://static.onepolitic... (show quote)

Yes It's about 4hrs from Houston to Corpus and with me and Aggie around 6 without the RV (Indoor potty) then we can do it in just over 4...LOL Aggie has lived all over the State he has told us. He has seen Carhenge and Cadillac Ranch that is on our bucket list and a restaurant called I think the Big Tex or Big Texan where if you can eat the 72oz steak dinner in an hour or less it's free.(although 6lbs of steak is a bit much I would think for any human...LOL This past weekend we went to the Hill country to visit sites like the LBJ Ranch/museum, Pana Maria home of the Oldest Polish community in the US(est1854) the Catholic Church still has a Polish Mass on Sundays. We want to come back some weekend to attend the service so I can practice my Polish. We ended in Fredriksberg to checkout the Museum of the Pacific War/ The Adm Nimitz Museum and Homestead. We are hoping to make October Fest this Fall. I am loving it here in Texas and this former Yankee is hooked. Hell I'm not a football fan but we are going to checkout an Aggie football game sometime in the Fall.

We all have our moments. How about some humility around here? We're all human after all.
Was it Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Brock Obamma, or George Bush who put that lump in what you thought might be a fart? Or, was that one on you? Literally.
Seems to me there are a lot of folks here who are absolutely right at all times, and do their morning business without a trace of odor.
Get a grip yall!!

The humility here is that we are all Americans who need each other as a nation and we had better wake up to defend it from those who wish to destroy it!!

I live up here North of Amarillo. Born here, and been here my whole life. I haven't lived in town in about 38 years now, I guess. I can't, and won't live in town. I just can't imagine not being able to pee off of my porch because Bob next door is out cooking on his grill 20 feet away from me.
For me, the Big Texan, and Cadillac Ranch are just tourist places. The Big Texan has ok food, but it's pricey, and the place is busy, and not really a reflection on the history of this part of the world. The Cadillac Ranch was built by a crazy oil millionaire named Stanley Marsh. I remember when he did it, and it became an icon here.
Ole Stanley was a sorry, shameful individual who died too easy a death for my taste.
As a Northeast Yankee, one you definitely need to see is the Palo Duro Canyon. Second largest canyon in the nation. The state park part of it is just a snapshot.
I've been blessed in my life to be able to go out on the ranches, who own most of the canyon, and other places here, and see a lot of historic things that the average Joe doesn't even realize exists. It's rough, wild country with a rich history of overcoming adversity, and survival.
If yall ever come this way, I can direct you to some places other than the typical tourist places.
Sorry to ramble, but, I'm Texan from head to toe. Texas is a magical place.

Yes Archie, my daughter and I are learning that Texas is a magical place. There is so much to see still. Aggie has taken us to visit where he spent his teen years in far S Texas then we went to the beuatiful scenic city of Matamoros Mexico and all over the area we live in now, the Coastal Bend and the Hill Country. We will make it to your part of Texas soon I think. He has said Palo Duro will be a stop for a weekend or so. Don't be sorry to ramble Archie, Aggie does that quite well too he says it's a Texas Thing. We will be going to Houston this weekend to see a few of the museums then off to Galveston for a day to see the historic houses.

I've not been south a lot, but some. Been to Houston plenty, and don't like it. DFW too. The outskirts are nice, but, I'm not a city boy.
I do like the historic houses though. We have several here with plaques on them designating as historical sites.
😁 I'm lucky! Sometimes I get to walk up on the porches, and deliver the mail.
On your way up here, yall need to stop at Guthrie where the 6666 ranch is. That's a famous one. My brother has a small ranch a few miles south of there. Beautiful, rugged country.
A lot different from down south, but it turned boys into men back in the day.
While you're up here, run up to Clayton, NM. zits just a couple of hours NE, and have a steak at the old Eklund Hotel there. The bar is in the basement, with bullet holes in the wall from Black Jack Ketchum shooting up the place.
The hanged that guy, and his head fell off.
