No, no, no. Hamburger Helper is yucky. Make a triple quantity of spaghetti sauce!

The following is labor intensive unless you buy prechopped veggies:

Hamburger/Rice Skillet:
2-3 lbs hamburger
1 14ounce can diced tomatoes
1-2 jars spaghetti sauce
Bunch of red and green peppers
Bunch of chopped celery
Bunch of diced onions
Sliced Mushrooms (if you eat them)
Tablespoon of dry mustard
2 cups instant brown rice
Cook the meat, veggies and mustard till done
Add rice, cover, reduce to medium-law heat and let rice cook.

It is very freezable.

As an alternative, you can add two cups of small macaroni and cover in sharp cheese.

Do not forget the ever popular meatloaf!

I hope her recovery goes quickly and well!

Since we just bought a 1/4 side of beef we have about 55 lbs of ground beef. Thanks for the recipe(s). My wife was looking for a ground beef/rice dish. THANKS!

My timing seems fortuitous. You are very welcome.

Let me reiterate when you do the macaroni with cheese version, it changes it enough you do not feel you are consuming the same thing.

Thanks AuntiE, that sounds good I'll have to try it. My wife used to make good meatloaf and my daughters follow her recipe and it's very good, but now the Mrs. meatloaf is really bad. It's the same recipe my daughters use. Maybe I can get one of my daughters to make us a meatloaf.

My wife just made 3 lbs of meatloaf. The only ingredients she added were minced onions and Tamari Sauce... YUM!!! Just as good re-heated too.
