I find many of Trump’s comments cringe worthy. The fact is it is not truly about Trump. It comes down to policy. Mitch abhors anyone who is war adverse. If we looked at his stock portfolio, I would wager it is heavily invested in military contractor/arms corporations p. No wars. No increase in returns.

Mitch doesn't have to please anyone anymore. He can pretty much say what he wants to and it won't affect his re-election (which is a sure thing) or his political power (which he has abandoned). He was just saying out loud what a lot of Republicans are thinking, but can't risk saying.
